I literally thought this was a joke when I heard the beginning, like someone overdubbed his guitar with a crappy tone from a practice amp.. but fuck It Yngwie is still the man regardles that this isnt his best performance.

Yeah, his tone wasn't great. But that doesn't excuse his sloppy playing here. We can blame it on his tone all day long, but fact of the matter is that Yngwie did not play well at all here.

@johnland82 your correct on his tone but if you don't have great tone with lots of sustain then its virtually impossible to make this song sound good. When i use my fathers setup i can actually get yngwie's tone and i can play the song like the fuckin album but i go and use a cheap amp and guitar with awful tone and it becomes a disaster. It's like trying to vanhalen stuff with bad tone. You just end up embarrassing yourself.

@sprinkler5802 I know what you mean. Sometimes when I practice this tune, or any other shred/sweep, I purposely use a balls tone to force myself to play super clean. Then when I slap on a great tone, I sound great, haha.

I agree with him possibly being drunk... I dunno, he just looked out of it big time.

@johnland82 Tone is absolutely half the battle of becoming a good guitar player. Thats why alota people who don't have the rite equipment get discouraged easily and give up on playing like there idols. You can have immaculate technique but if your playing through a shit amp your gonna sound like shit

The guitar is out of tune to start with, I bet the TECH got a MASSIVE ear full after this. Thats why he is vibratoing almost every note so wide, to try and hide the out of tuned guitar. Easily the worst version of FBS Ive ever heard him play.

what confuses me is wouldnt fender want malmsteen to sound good? why did fender put so little effort into providing an environment that would let yngwie have a good tone? now great, yngwie has a cranky tone and everyone's appreciation for fender drops. good going fender, way to do business and attract customers.

i was just thinking that myself. yngwie has been using those old JMP 2204 since he started touring. but here he's promoting fender and fender equipment, and not using his old marshalls. a guitar player has to be comfortable with his sound to play well. maybe that's it. and also, he always set his amp to 10, and maybe the backing track couldnt match the volume.. who knows. might have been just a bad day at the office..

he had to be on that stage..agreement u know..but ıf i were malmsteen ı wouldnt accept to be on that fuckıng stage or ı d send my men to check the sound one more tıme for what mıght happen god knows:)and it happened:)he couldnt even play nicely..look at hıs face..he probably kılled the guys who organızed and made that sound after the gig:))

You're right. I'm surprised he didn't refuse to play, with a tone as shit as that! Sounds like the kinda sound you get through a 10 watt practise amp with built-in overdrive.
