For those of you who "support the troops," do you support ALL troops hands down? What about the ones committing atrocities? Serious question. Like do you support Pfc. Steven D. Green for example?
Alone the fact that the U.N. (which laws even the mighty, mighty US is bound to, no wait: SHOULD BE BOUND TO) didn't grant permission to the war on Iraq makes it a war crime.
So it's clear that not every soldier can deceide whether a war is right or not, but when even international law refuses to accept what Bush was trying to make them believe, it's not only a moral obligation to refuse to fight an unjust war, it's perfectly in order with international law!
@undeadpresident yeah or does he realize that the US is an illegitimate nation built on treaty violations with the Indians? The illegitimacy of this war has deep roots.
@skeletonbite Agreed, the US was built upon brutality, hypocrasy, greed and lies. It "defends" itself by attacking whoever has a resource that it wants.
This is interesting. he is not allowed to speak his mind? And that is one of many reasons I will never support the military. Under the United State's Constitution, you the freedom of speech. But you forfeit these rights when you join the United State's military. According to their rules, your body doesn't even belong to you any more. You, at that time, become their property.
-
These are rediculous, nonsensical rules, which I could never go by or even support.
NONE of America's many, many wars, support for autocratic tyrants, interventions & manipulations in the Middle East have increased security one iota -- Instead, they have provoked instability, violence, insecurity. Why do gullible, cowardly Americans line up to endorse corrupt, criminal 'leaders' who betray the ideals of a free society, social justice, human & civil rights, democracy? The US tried to blackmail the UN, then ignored it when it wouldn't concede war authority.
He joined the Army after the war started,. He knew exactly what he was getting into.
If it was up to me thay would have stood him up infront of the whole 2nd ID stripped all the Rank and insignia off his uniform an d marched his ass off Ft. Lewis in disgrace
@RememberSobibor -- Spoken like a true-blue serf. Every man has a duty foremost to his God, then his family, then his nation, then his leaders. He has an obligation to be a moral, thinking individual. America's criminal imperialism depends on mindless conformity and obedience to patently criminal wars, which voluntary pre-emptive wars are by every definition. None of you apologists for illegal wars are fit to shine his boots.
@RememberSobibor / Not exactly. MANY enlistees enlisted out of patriotism and out of a desire to do what was required to support the country. Others enlisted because they believed the (now known) lies of the Bush administration. Still others enlisted because they believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Finally, still others enlisted to help the Iraqi people.
By the time Lt. Watada was ordered to Iraq, it was well known to everyone the reasons for war were all lies.
There is only one way to conduct yourself in this world They are absolute even when doing what is right may bring embarrassment or bad publicity to your unit or the service or to you. Even when doing what is right may require sacrificing personal allegiances and friendships for personal honor. In every aspect of your life. You must always maintain the courage of your convictions ...doing this involves traveling a difficult and lonely road. - Sec. of Defense Robert Gates
To hell with this joke of a war. Mr. Watada saw that this war was a cooked up story and he did the right thing. It's easy to compare this war to vietnam. Anybody who fails to recognize this I hate to say you are living in a dream world and are failing to see the big picture. And it angers me that our soldiers r dying for these web of lies. And on top of everything else alot of them who come back wounded have to fight tooth and nail to get the benefits they so rightfully earned.
firstly you can't refuse orders unless the orders break the law of war or rules of ingagment.secondly in ww1-ww2 if you refused any orders you would be shot but alot has changed sence then.
i love how soldiers are always being called cowards by people that have never fought a war or by the politcans witch are the really cowards you will never see them on the battle filed in your lives.
the only people that are noble are the workers and soldiers themselfs, but there the ones working for them
Ive been to both Afghanistan and Iraq, and have seen a need for help in both nations. While I recognize the well intentioned efforts of an idealist, I would remind him that change is most effectively exacted from within.
Protesting on street corners does very little to effect change
no offense man, although i really value your sacrifice and appreciate what you do, and i tend and see the deeper meaning of things, i would say that enrolling into a frame that decides everything for you and offers limited control over your decisions is a bad way to create the kind of change YOU want, perhaps protesting and leading a change, either by inspiring words or by actions is an effective way as well. P.S-I am a soldier myself, tho I fight with the Canadian Forces.
I believe the war is not justified, illegal, and misleading. Whatever you all want to call it, I'm for it. But what makes Watada so special that he gets to stay behind? I'm sure there are a lot of people that feel the same, but they went, they died, and seemingly for nothing if Watada gets all the limelight. Fear made him stay back. No ones that noble, not in this day and age. In the time of our fathers and before I'd believe it, but not today.
Yes. He is damn coward. He forgot his men, he forgot his oath of duty, honor and country. He is a POS.While braver men then he die and are wounded- he is AWOL. This jerk knew he was anti war- why did he ever join the Army? He wanted the benefits. This punk lied to the military. He was there for the pay check in peace, not there for hard times/war. What kind of punk is he. The worse kind of coward this nation has.
Cowards are the ones who don`t stand up and say when something is wrong . Even though he knows it will bring him great critisism and anger towards him he still had the balls to make a stand . Those who act like sheep and follow the heard will be slaughtered like sheep . His actions might save soldiers live by making it harder for future wars to come about and end this pointless war quicker .
You are either a sadly misguided youth or old fool. When a man sings up for duty- you do that damn job, He is a nothing. A zero,or all the worse this nation has.
Well you obviously swallowed the bs Bush shovelled in you direction so as to sell this illegal war of agression which you oughta know was exactly what the Nazi`s were hung for after WWII . I was just following orders was not excepted as an excuse by the court . People said after the war where were all the good germans to speak up when they seen what hitler was planning . Well Watada migth have sighned up after swallowing the Bush Bs after 9/11 but soon realsed it was lies and did his real duty .
your so fuckin stupid how do you compare killing 12 million jews to iraq. you are obv not a soldier over there we are building schools building infrastructure and helping the iraqis to get on their feet hardly the extermination of 12 million people we wouldnt go if we truely thought what we were doing their was eveil ehren watada is just a coward he abandoned his men when they needed him most
Yeh I`m stupid 12 million Jews when it was 6 million everyone knows that braindead . 50 millionon both sides not just Jews . This is what the Nazis were tried for , well you see numbers one and two that is what the Iraq war comes under .
The indictments were for
1 Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of crime against peace
2 Planning, initiating and waging wars of aggression and other crimes against peace
Some scholars maintain that the definition of the Holocaust should also include the Nazis' systematic murder of millions of people in other groups, including ethnic Poles, the Romani, Soviet civilians, Soviet prisoners of war, people with disabilities, gay men, and political and religious opponents,[3] which would bring the total number of Holocaust victims to between 11 million and 17 million people.
do some reasearch faggot and also what the fuck do you know about iraq ? you never been ther
You did`t say that braindead you said 12 million jews it there in writing . Judging by your use of the word faggot and blind devotion of policy you would fit right in to the third reich . You don`t have to have been there to know it is an illegal war of agression and occupation . It does`nt matter what you have done out there good or bad you had no right to be there under international law . What about the systmatic extermination of Iraqi children through sanction before the war 500.000 .
your one selfish mother fucker you have kids? im sure theres kids you care about. must be nice that they get to watch cartoons, eat good food, go to school. Because of us those kids have that chance not that you give a shit. this war doesnt benefit you so you could give two fucks you should be ashamed to call your self an american. If i get to free and help men woman and children by breaking your international law (which is a disguise for fear) id do it a million more times you make me sick
Don`t feed me that BS the iraq war has made the whole world unsafe it has inflamed the middle East and made Iraq a breeding ground for terrorists . Bin landen couldn`t be happier he has AMERICANS on the battle feild were they can fight them which he has always wanted . If you cared to check I aint American and were I am from I grew up from the day I was born for 25 years into a terrorist war so don`t try to patronise me about serving in Iraq mate . We have a broader view of the world here .
That a typical American attitude the laws that apply to everyone else in the world do not apply to you . Yeh keep thinking your out there to help the women and children . I tell you what would help them stealth bombers flying over head and bombing them oh right they are laser guided and only kill soldiers . It an established fact that only fifty percent hit their targets and were fired into civillian population but then thtats exceptable because the hero Americans are liberating their oil .
I am glad I make you sick because US foriegn policy makes me sick and you are a spear head of it . The US has been running round the world protecting its monetary interests under the guise of liberators for 50 years proping up and arming dictators and facists if you went through nearly every conflict you would find an American hand in it.The death toll is unimaginalble one scholar reckoned 50 million deaths could be atributed to them from the so called drug wars in south America to Vietnam etc.
you think you know so much yet you know nothing try actually doin somethin with your pathetic life and quit taking other peoples information as 100% fact. Oil ? kuwait has the oil. in 15 months in iraq i did not see ONE well. Your afraid but you dont want to look bad so you use the " this war is unjust" cloak to make yourself look noble when in fact you havent done shit in your life ,your worthless
yeh its hard to defend your position isn`t it thats why you resort to the same old tactic and thats to attack me personaly . You no nothing of what I have done so don`t even presume anything . OH by the way you should have seen the oil fields it was the first position secured during the invasion and Kuwait produces 2.6 million gallons of oil a day Iraq 2.1 go figure but Iraq has greater potential for uping production and exploration . It was not only about oil .
@alright4u If you listen to the video - the whole thing - they state that he joined the military because he wanted to defend the country. THEN later he discovered what a lying piece of scum George W. Bush is. He realized how immoral and illegal the war is and that the whole premise behind it is a lie. If you're not going to watch the entire video, why bother watching any of it?
at some point he decided that risking his life for something he did not directly believe isnt what he wants, I respect his decision from a rational point of view, not a professional one.
@jrthefreshmaker If they feel the same, they should make the same stand he is. You should listen to his entire speech on the "pinkyshow" channel on youtube. If you still believe that he is in the wrong - I feel bad for you.
He's chicken-shit! That's what I put my money on. I bet if we were able "look" into his psyche, you'd see his true reasons behind is fallout. Some people want to give it the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe he did have noble reasons not to go, but we don't know for sure. He's smart enough to use the immoralities of the war as a back drop to his reasons. Good for him cause now he's got people backing him up. Don't feel bad for me. I'm not the one pretending.
I just don't see how, just because you're for the war, you're labeled as a "Troop Supporter."
You can support the troops and be against the war, as well. The two are mutually exclusive.
Also... Watada's right. When you're sworn in, you swear to uphold and defend the constitution, first and foremost.
Just remember: our President and our appointed officials are not The United States of America. The United States of America is the Constitution. Plain and simple.
@imsno0zin Absolutely right, except nothing about the war is unconstitutional. It is absolutely difficult moral ground, but if we rely on every soldier and officer to decide whether or not they believe in the war when such a course is chosen this debilitates the capabilities of our armed forces. This is why once somebody swears into the military, they are not permitted to refuse orders unless they are expressly illegal.
@imsno0zin i agree with you and see the irony in it see it like this to support the bullet you must also see the gun that fires the bullet you dont have to like the gun or the bullet but both are responsible for the overall cause and effect
Agreed. This war is pointless and immoral and wrong.Illegal would be the word. Besides, no weapons of mass destruction in that country.Kinda crazy, huh? But bush was SO sure of it, right? Besides, why is it that we even jumped to Iraq before even finding and prosecuting the man we first held responsible? To make daddy proud that's why. He wanted to get back at him for daddy. And for the oil. The government is responsible for 9/11. Watch the fuckin vids if you disagree.Plenty of proof. Not u. ur ok
@nachoaverage Not to mention that Saddam Hussein and also Osama bin Laden were both armed, trained and funded by the U.S.A. Now they turn around and prosecute them. I am by no means saying they're good people - i don't know enough about them to make that leap - but you can't prop someone up and then later go declare war on them for what you helped them do.
Watada, like myself and everyone else in this country, has had a blanket pulled over his eyes to shield him from the truth. He enlisted before knowing the truth and took a stand when he realized that this is wrong on so many different levels. I, too, served in the military and served 15 months in Iraq...before I realized and discovered the truth for myself. I, too, took a stand...th diference between him and I? Nothing except he found out sooner. He is a true American...this was an inside job.
Watada did what he felt was best and I respect him for that. Being in the Army does not and should not in any way have any effect whatsoever in what you believe in as a man; as a human being. Bush is a liar and a bully and the military is full of shit. We are out there to " fight terrorists and communism" they say, yet there is communism all over the government and it spreads throughout this country. If anything, it should be a civil war...the people against the government. FUCK BUSH!
First of all, 'officer' and 'soldier' are not interchangeable. You are an officer OR a soldier. Period.
Secondly, the oath of a commissioned officer is different from the oath of an enlisted soldier. A soldier pledges allegiance to the President. An officer pledges allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.
He also took an oath to uphold the constitution of the country which this war and the last president tried to destroy . I think it says somewere in it about speaking out and doing what you can when they see something threatening the constitution . Stop being a mindless goverment drone and open your mind up to the possibility that he might be the true patriot here .
Lt. Watada's court-martial put the legality of the war on the table. The prosecution botched it, so Judge Head called a mistrial. Lt. Watada's defense team appealed to the next highest level, Judge Settle, who ruled that Watada cannot be tried again because of double jeopardy. The prosecution says it is anxious to appeal but does nothing. Prosecution is afraid to question the legality of the Iraq war in a fair court. Why? The Iraq war is illegal. Watada is a hero. Bush should be prosecuted as a
he let his platoon go into harms way without him, that's all that matters--its not about the politics, it's about brotherhood, doesn't matter what the fight is, you don't leave others behind
your an idiot, how does it cost a soldier's life if he's willing to serve in any other area besides iraq? he just doesnt want to serve in this mission, a mission he feels that is illegal & immoral. you act as if we are only fighting one war
burning a church or shoot a prisoner are good examples of illegal order? what do you think they are going to ask him to do? are the soldiers going to have a picnic in iraq?? it is an illegal war you asshole...the whole iraq invasion is illegal activity because it is a war of aggression!!!
We would never have an effective military if we would follow this type of thinking. What if half of the US Army "chose" disengage from WWII? We would all be speaking German. Watada may not agree with the war...but he should have thought about that before he commissioned. The war started after he joined.
The art of war is something that you might want to read up on. There is a reason why militaries have organizations and cultures. It has been tried and tested over thousands of years.
i have read it and one thing i have learned is that if half of your army goes away the leadership is not working well, besides, i dont think half of us army soldiers are stupid, so if they (or few, or one of them) walk away the leaders should study why isnt it?
i would like to ask jeff brigham what would he do if, being a soldier, his commander order hin to bend over and let other soldiers to fuck his ass...well it is as unhonorable and unlawful as asking a soldier to participate in a war of agression...what if his comander order him to kill a baby or a prisoner??? would he do it??
only those that have experienced violence know that it should be used as a last resort...the power to kill must be used with responsability and honor...watada knew it was unhonorable to participate in a war of agression
I used to support Bush, until I found out he was breaking the law, and for the people who continue to support bush, you are supporting illegal activity!!! America WAKE UP!!! the constitution is the ultimate authority, not bush.
and the Americans don't know the answer to "why they hate us"? Spreading the message of peace and liberty by carpet-bombing, by wiping out whole towns? Why wouldn't the victims of such brutality cry "Death to America!"
American wars, coups, assassinations & sabotage have killed millions of innocent people around the world! Iran 1953, Guatemala 1954, Iraq 1963 and 1968 (installed Saddam), Cuba 1961, Vietnam Laos 1962, Indonesia 1965 that installed Soeharto, Bolivia 1967, Cambodia 1970, Chile 1973, Afghanistan 1979, Nicaragua 1981, Honduras Panama 1989, Venezuela 2002. These are not "conspiracy theories", google up these keywords, the US Government calls them "covert operations" instead of "war crimes"!
Ehren Watada and ALL great WARRIORs,it is your DUTY to QUESTION UNREASONABLE authority. Especially when a President has lied. Iraq FOR OIL. NOT Terrorism. Iraq is for Bush and his Texas OIL buddies. Soldiers Die Bush and buddies get RICH.
I am a Specialist in the US Army. I am currently assigned to the 2nd BCT, 1st Armored Division out of Baumholder, Germany. I served with the 101st Airborne Division in my initial deployment to Iraq from 2005 - 2006. This man has an obligation to his word and his oath to serve and protect his country. The mission called him to iraq and he said no. A Soldier First. No mission will fail. he failed.
Blade21408 I salute you!! Thank you for your noble service!! I believe you have followed orders diligently. Officer Watada is about GREAT LEADERSHIP. I as a major TAX contributor EXPECT the constitution to be defended above all. It defines U S A. Watada you are A BRAVE WARRIOR against all ODDS. I Salute You, too!!
He's right and I support him 100% -- you want a war to spill over in to the streets of America it's going to be American against American -- what you should be looking to pick a side is the constitution, not the neo-con institution.
I doubt that he is truly Japanese. I say this because no Japanese would be such a coward, and his lack of honor suggests that he is either of Chinese ethnicity or a Korean who is masquarding as a Japanese like the Zainichis. Or he is a Zainichi who immigrated to USA.
They are ignorant and freeloaders , they want freedom, freedom of speech , all of the good things in life , that our troops are fighting for , how about and keeping our families safe while they are out there acting like stooges and protesting. They make me sick. COWARDS AND SO IS WATADA!!!
I dont give a damn to google anything ,I am talking about our troops fighting terroist for our freedom ,keeping them out of our country and trying to restore peace. If you want to read something ,read about how soldiers coming home maimed for life and those who give their life, for doing their duty. DO YOU HEAR THEM CRYING LIKE A BABY ABOUT THAT ,NO, BUT I HEAR YOU COMPLAINING LIKE A TIT BAG,so shut up and stay living like a coward that takes everything for granted ,you piece of camel dung.
Thank you dojaholic , you are very correct , and Thank you for your service for our country and keeping the terroist bastards out of America and help in controlling them .I say Kill them all and let God sort them out. oohrah
Illegal and IMMORAL!!! how old are you? Grow up and talk to me with sense not stupidity. You dont have a clue do ya, do you live in a cave ? You must be a yellow bellied coward too !! Dont reply unless you know what your talking about. He is a treasonist and should be treated that way!!
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND KEEP THEM SAFE and you should thank them too for protecting your sorry ass !!! ooh rah
Ooooh First of all, everyone knows this war is ILLEGAL. You're the one who is ignorant. Good job on proving my point. You get a medal. If Bush wants his oil so badly, then that coward should go fight his own gawddamm war. He's putting the lives of our loved ones in harms way for his own greedy gain. You're the one who needs to wake up.
And you say this from the safety of your living room ya full of shit wannabe cannon fodder moron. If more American soldiers had half the courage of Watada maybe the world wouldnt hate all your asses like they do now!!!!
Courage of soldiers like WATADA , hahahaha , your too funny , sitting at your computer a free man and babbling like an idiot. If all the troops felt like and were COWARDS like WATADA, we wouldnt have freedom , your so stupid your hair hurts. Why don you go join the terroist , you sound like one and prolly live like one , OR DO YOU ENJOY YOUR FREE FREEDOM OF SPEECH , YOU IDIOT.
son, why did you join then? you should be responsible enough that when you took that oath into military service, knowing fully what's involved in being a G.I., you should be embarrased and ashamed with the action you took. you put yourself into something you don't live by and believe in. you shouldn't have joined in the first place. sir...no, civilian.
Your comments just encouraged me to not only attend the Ehren Watada support rally but to also give $50 in your name to all of the resisters who see the truth!!
Keep up the good work!!! Keep watching FOX!! we need more comments like yours to get us to donate more money to these heroes!
Are you kidding me you black ignorant douche!!! The media slanders and lies about Bush all the time the only true news is Fox. Get off your soap box you narrow minded liberals and go to the doc to get a cure for your bush derangement syndrom. You blame Bush for EVERYTHING!!! Just for the record there is no such thing as an "illegal" war this is just a term made up by liberals to make it sound more interesting.
Ever wonder why only young kids get sent to the frontline in combat? You may think its because your reflexes are faster and you are young and in better shape. WRONG!
Its called ignorance and very poor choice of picking role models. Maturity come with age and experience and until you reach it many will take advantage of your skills and give you false hopes---this is what is happening to our military. Wake up man!
dat da war? what language is that? clearly not one of informed educated citizens. First educate yourself on just who Hitler was and what he did before you go pontificating on political policy.
Refusing an UNLAWFUL order - to fight in an illegal war - is the DUTY of every American soldier. This was drilled into our heads in basic training. We swore to defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
The perjurers in the Bush administration brought American soldiers and innocent Iraqi people into grave danger, killing more than 3000 American soldiers and up to a million Iraqis and dragging our honor through the mud. I salute LT Watada! --US ARMY VET

This guy is Kamikaze. He joined the military with the intention to speak out against the bush jr administration. He did the only thing he could think of to get his voice heard.
objection, calls for speculation as to Watada's mindset, he already declared no foreknowledge of crimes being commited until after he was in service...hypothetically though... who's lie is killing more people?
Negative. The Lt. is one of the bravest soldiers in the U.S. military because he won't commit the treasonous acts of his superiors. U.S. reasoning 4 the invasion was proven wrong, therefore, it is illegal 2 occupy the country of Iraq. 2 bad R nation's lawmakers won't admit it & the electorate is 2 frightened 2 force them.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
watada is a coward...if he really wants to make a stand, why is he not willing to go to prison for his belief???? I should get off this discussion, because no matter what you guys say watada will always be a coward and bring shame to hawaii soldiers and the people.
The U.S.invaded the Hawaiian Islands in their perpetual war to occupy & use everyone's resources. U know native Hawaiians think of Watada as a hero, having become a David of sorts, challenging Goliath(the big bully U.S.). What have U done for Ur fellow man of late?
History: The Japanese Americans that served in the 442nd were seriously motivated to show that their community were real Americans. WWII was a legal war, begun after attacks upon the U.S. Lt. Watada is following established law, military AND civilian, further strengthened in the Nuremberg judicial decisions. I saw you're a "legal analyst"--go analyze.
you are a disgrace to the japanese americans that served WWII fighting for america and died - in the 442nd. Many of their families at home were inprisoned at internment camps though their husbands and brothers went off to fight.
Watada is a coward. I agree with an earlier comment NO sense of respect for your fellow soldier.
More military people need to grow some GUTS, stand up and SPEAK OUT. Unfortunately, a large proportion of them are brainwashed to believe whatever they are told. They need to employ some CRITICAL THINKING and EDUCATE themselves. They took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. It's maddening! Ron Paul agrees. Google Ron Paul. Learn. VOTE FOR DR. PAUL-OUR LAST HOPE FOR CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT!
wow, you are smart. You really believe that majority of the military personnel are stupid and have been brain washed. If it was not for the soldiers(professionals follows orders given by the Commander-In-Chief>Voted by the majority of the United States.)risks lives, you wouldn't have this pleasure to exercise your freedom by calling most of the service members stupid. If all soldiers voice their opinions like normal citizen such as you, then I am sorry to tell you that this country is doomed.
Why would he join the Army if he wasn't willing to go to war if commanded. No sense of respect for his fellow soldiers. This guy probably would have found a reason not to fight in WWII
Um, I think I do. BTW, I did preface it as a humble opinion, so I think I know. You join the Army to preserve democracy, not to question the actions of the President of the United States and the officers appointed above you. The penalty for desertion in time of war is death. I will settle for firing squad, he doesn't HAVE to be hanged.
His order to report with his troops to an illegal war is instrinsically illegal. There is a long list of the reasons this war is illegal, starting with the fact that our membership in the UN is, as a treaty, part of American law (per the U.S. Constitution) and we breached that treaty by attacking Iraq. There's more . . . interested?
I'm sorry, but you are wrong. The war intrinsically legal, sanctioned by the UN Security Council resolution. Also sanctioned by violation of the peace treaty signed by Saddam Insane in 1990. An illegal order is an order in which a crime would occur if said order would be committed. I'm interested in the more part....please enlighten
The Security Council did NOT sanction any invasion; President Bush says so in this video. Our treaties are U.S. law no matter what Sadaam did. At the time we invaded there was sufficient intelligence to verify that Iraq had no WMDs, no means of delivering any if they did, no ties to Al-Qaida or any connection to the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. judgments at Nuremberg exclude the defense of obeying orders. And we have breached the Geneva Conventions, endangering our own military.
Go Watada, YOu stood up for humanity when it needed a man of his words and you truly are a hero for humanity, morality and ethics and yes " i was just following orders is never an excuse".
he signed a paper which includes reference to military codes of conduct which states it is a soldiers' duty to reject the orders of a commander if the deceptively and immorally put soldiers at peril with lawless intent. Bush has broken so many laws that he should be executed for lying to Congress in his capacity as a public official. Not to mention the international laws and other constitutional laws breached.
Then why dont u say France is imperial, why wont u bag on those countries, cuz u hate the US thats why! With my lack of knowledge, i seen to be keeping up with ur genuis ass pretty well dontcha think, France treats it people better, then why the fuck are Muslims running around killing everyone like little kids
Do you know the military codes of conduct? Have you ever served in the military? If you have ever served you would know that you don't go to war for the president you go to war for your brothers besides you. These brothers are the reason that America is free and, we can sit here and question the president. We have that freedom whitout the consiquences of being punished.
wow that is hilarious, I never said we didn't have freedoms here, where did you get that, please stick to the facts. For example, 47 million americans are free to be without health care in the US. Did you hear the wonderful president of Iran laugh at Mike Wallace on 60 minutes over that and US freedoms? I heard of a young boy who just died from having the freedom of no health care.
THis boy had a tooth ache without health insurance. No dentist would see him. The tooth decaying delevoped bacteria which spread to his brain and killed him. That same situation happens to 10's of thousands of americans every year because THEY ARE FREE FROM HEALTH CARE! Rich, powerful, elites don't want health care costs taking away from their corporate profits because it will result in less money available to them in salary and/or dividends.
That is bullshit! I have seen and been a poor american without health insurance and I could not get the care I needed even when there where free health clinics because the waiting period was 3 months and they don't perform many proceedures.
That happens in no other industrialized country in the world. Is that what you are fight for? Iraq is bringing nothing home to the average american except pain, death and disgrace.
Think of the country Iraq could be in a couple years, contributing to world trade economically and not having to suffer under a pyscho guy. Dont tell me the country pre-2003, had freedoms, living in constant fear of ur family getting killed isnt freedom from anything. When they cant have thier own country without help from us, it will be better for both countries, and cheaper for us
Iraq was close to a first world country, materially and socially but under tyranny, before americans destroyed it which they typically do to enable them to rap the country. Look at all the countries the US has tried to "help" they are now dictatorships, tyrannical or in worse condition. Our world trade ideas is hopeful however it will not benefit the Iraqis if the Iraqis parliament doesn't tell the US to leave, which they are currently contemplating.
We TRIED to help, WTF about Germany, Austria,France and all those fucking countries that we MADE into existence, Dude do u realize Europe is thye way it is today from us?????/ What the hell do u think Japan would have been like if the Russians woulda taken it over! It would have been screwed over with a fucked up commie goverment and people lived terrible lives, just like eastern Europe through the 80's
Why arent u talking about our SUCCESES instead of saying how we fucked it all up, which isnt even true. Dont u think the South Koreans are thankful for our peace and the end of a gun barrel as you libs call it. THEY WOULDNT have a country if it was for US and Brits, so take a goddamn look at what we did instead of how we ruin things, we'll fix Iraq and millions of you guys will have to admit you were wrong, like the ppl that said the taliban will whoop our butts
You don't understand history, in fact in Europe they joke about this, that americans have created nothing new because it all ties back the Europe. Give me a break , I am even embrassed to respond to what you worte. No wonder our military is the way it is.
Then they are wrong, yes if we go back to it, we wouldnt have a country without brittain, but I wasnt talking 200 years ago, im talk 60 years ago. The Euros are seriously delussional if they think we didnt save them, who do they think woulda liberated Western Europe, England?????? Good luck with that, it wouldf have taken them 30 years. The military the way it is????? Yes i would say since we have the best military in the world, no body else has stealth fighters or 8 carriers
Our military sucks, they can't ever beat the Iraqis third-world freedom fighters. THE FRENCH WON THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR FOR AMERICA, any historian will tell you that. The french gave ALL the arms, gun powder, ships etc.. The french had more men fighting then the americans. Your lack of education proves so many of my points. THE french won our independence first.
jesus christ man, how about we just say France gave us everything! Thats WRONG to say they gave us all of our guns, u know that man. The did help us, but im pretty sure we couldve won without them, its not like George Wash. was french. Goddam dude quit saying i dont know anything, its pretty obviouse i know more than you about history, you have probably the MOST biases anti american view ive even heard of. Ur like a conspiracy beliving anti american, thats bad thing
That is hilarious, about George, he was considered at best an average commander however for the "Official History" we had to play him up. He was only good at encouraging the troops to fight against there interest and support the elites.
It has also been proven that america purposely waited as long as it could to interven in france so europe could destroy as much as possible of itself before america would intervene limiting its casualties and so america could profit from supplying what was needed to rebuild europe.
WE profited form bulding post war Europe , that the craziest fucking thing ive heard on youtube short of Bush bombed Twin towers. NO OTHER country in existence then and now, would have rebuilt most of a CONTINent like we did, we gave u billions to make ur country modern and gave france a chgance to fight agaisnt the Soviets. They owe us at least a simple thanks instead of bitching and denying us our honor in WW2 by saying they coulda done it without us.
OH SHIT don't tell me you actually believe that we were fighting against the russians during the cold war. Well given that you live in such a shitty country I can understand how hard it is to get the truth. We were not against the Russians. Our gov't says that to americans so we can steal resources from others while making it look like we are doing something good. I can give you info on where you can get official gov't documents saying all of this.
Hey man how about take a critical look at other countries for 1% of the time u spend on US? U might know about the other countries but u fail to give US credit for fucking saving WESTERN civilz. 2 times! Goddamn man
You really don't understand the world and morality. It is cowardly to critize another country that you know can do nothing to you and who you have no effect on. I could critize Russia and it would have no effect, so I chose to critize the county I live in because I know it best. And by the way the US has negatively effected more countries than any other so it so happens I like to critize the worst also.
Ok, that last comment u made is wrong man, i think most people would agree with me. Come on man, we turned many of our ENEMIES into nice countries after we whooped thier ass, tell me how many other countries have done that, NONE other than Rome. US is the nicest country in modern times, what about Japan man, u know that it was us who stayed there and rebuilt it, and were the worse, why do u think that when MILLIONS of ppl are thankful for what weve done for them, just ask Koreans
Ok maybe its wrong morally to pick on these countries that are lower than us, but at least you admitted they cant do SHIT!!! haahaha, anyway, if there lower than us AND doin bad things (Sudan) why the fuck would it be wrong if we bullied a country, think of the people man, not your own isolatrionist idea for the US. and i know ull say were evil and all thids shit but thats just not true, its being proven in afghanistan right now by getting girls in school

For those of you who "support the troops," do you support ALL troops hands down? What about the ones committing atrocities? Serious question. Like do you support Pfc. Steven D. Green for example?
skeletonbite 7 months ago

3 War crimes
4 Crimes against humanity

Some scholars maintain that the definition of the Holocaust should also include the Nazis' systematic murder of millions of people in other groups, including ethnic Poles, the Romani, Soviet civilians, Soviet prisoners of war, people with disabilities, gay men, and political and religious opponents,[3] which would bring the total number of Holocaust victims to between 11 million and 17 million people.

It does`nt matter what you have done out there good or bad you had no right to be there under international law .
Plain and simple.
imsno0zin 3 years ago 5
@imsno0zin Absolutely right, except nothing about the war is unconstitutional. It is absolutely difficult moral ground, but if we rely on every soldier and officer to decide whether or not they believe in the war when such a course is chosen this debilitates the capabilities of our armed forces. This is why once somebody swears into the military, they are not permitted to refuse orders unless they are expressly illegal.

We are out there to " fight terrorists and communism" they say, yet there is communism all over the government and it spreads throughout this country. How are you going to be a commissioned officer, and refuse deployment and say your president is wrong.

Being an American, I believe Ehren was fighting for the right ideals and his heart was in the right place.
But...
As an Iraq war veteran, 1LT Watada was violating his oath of an Commisioned Officer and as a serviceman, both of which subject to UCMJ.
Sometimes, being a soldier is balancing on the tip of a double-edged sword.
What do you do?
You can't abandon your ideals, but you can't abandon your brothers and sisters in harm's way.
What do you do?
I still wrestle with that.
nicorelief 3 years ago
First of all, 'officer' and 'soldier' are not interchangeable. You are an officer OR a soldier. Period.
Secondly, the oath of a commissioned officer is different from the oath of an enlisted soldier. A soldier pledges allegiance to the President. An officer pledges allegiance to the U.S. Constitution.
Look it up.

DO YOU HEAR THEM CRYING LIKE A BABY ABOUT THAT ,NO, BUT I HEAR YOU COMPLAINING LIKE A TIT BAG,so shut up and stay living like a coward that takes everything for granted ,you piece of camel dung.

You're the one who needs to wake up.

son, why did you join then? you should be responsible enough that when you took that oath into military service, knowing fully what's involved in being a G.I., you should be embarrased and ashamed with the action you took. you put yourself into something you don't live by and believe in. you shouldn't have joined in the first place. sir...no, civilian.

Get off your soap box you narrow minded liberals and go to the doc to get a cure for your bush derangement syndrom. You blame Bush for EVERYTHING!!! Just for the record there is no such thing as an "illegal" war this is just a term made up by liberals to make it sound more interesting.
Semperfi2003 4 years ago
Ever wonder why only young kids get sent to the frontline in combat? You may think its because your reflexes are faster and you are young and in better shape. WRONG!
Its called ignorance and very poor choice of picking role models. Maturity come with age and experience and until you reach it many will take advantage of your skills and give you false hopes---this is what is happening to our military. Wake up man!

--US ARMY VET

palekana 4 years ago
Negative. The Lt. is one of the bravest soldiers in the U.S. military because he won't commit the treasonous acts of his superiors. U.S. reasoning 4 the invasion was proven wrong, therefore, it is illegal 2 occupy the country of Iraq. 2 bad R nation's lawmakers won't admit it & the electorate is 2 frightened 2 force them.

watada is a coward...if he really wants to make a stand, why is he not willing to go to prison for his belief???? I should get off this discussion, because no matter what you guys say watada will always be a coward and bring shame to hawaii soldiers and the people.
palekana 4 years ago
The U.S.invaded the Hawaiian Islands in their perpetual war to occupy & use everyone's resources. U know native Hawaiians think of Watada as a hero, having become a David of sorts, challenging Goliath(the big bully U.S.). What have U done for Ur fellow man of late?

Heeeeeeey Watada, Watada, Watada, Suuuuhwinnnnnng Watada!
erictherad1973 4 years ago
History: The Japanese Americans that served in the 442nd were seriously motivated to show that their community were real Americans. WWII was a legal war, begun after attacks upon the U.S. Lt. Watada is following established law, military AND civilian, further strengthened in the Nuremberg judicial decisions. I saw you're a "legal analyst"--go analyze.
cwmorse 4 years ago
you are a disgrace to the japanese americans that served WWII fighting for america and died - in the 442nd. Many of their families at home were inprisoned at internment camps though their husbands and brothers went off to fight.
Watada is a coward. I agree with an earlier comment NO sense of respect for your fellow soldier.
Why did Ehren enroll in the military?
ganjagirl1970 4 years ago
So, myself and the military are not entitled to their own opinions?
I was a lifer in the military.
I think I know what I'm talking about.
Bush wasn't elected, he was installed, twice.
The troops swore an oath to defend the constitution, not world banking.
Ron Paul's biggest supporters are indeed the military!
Get your head out of the sand.
BASSGUY01 4 years ago 3
More military people need to grow some GUTS, stand up and SPEAK OUT. Unfortunately, a large proportion of them are brainwashed to believe whatever they are told. They need to employ some CRITICAL THINKING and EDUCATE themselves. They took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. It's maddening! Ron Paul agrees. Google Ron Paul. Learn. VOTE FOR DR. PAUL-OUR LAST HOPE FOR CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT!
BASSGUY01 4 years ago
wow, you are smart.

In my humble opinion, you are a coward. You are in the Army to preserve democracy, not to practice it. Hang 'em high. Swing, Wahtada!
erictherad1973 4 years ago
Hey dumb ass eric, do you even know what you just wrote means? I doubt it.
Marly61 4 years ago
Um, I think I do. BTW, I did preface it as a humble opinion, so I think I know. You join the Army to preserve democracy, not to question the actions of the President of the United States and the officers appointed above you. The penalty for desertion in time of war is death. I will settle for firing squad, he doesn't HAVE to be hanged.
erictherad1973 4 years ago

Marly61 4 years ago

erictherad1973 4 years ago
Preserve democracy by not questioning illegal orders? I know military; that's not even close.
cwmorse 4 years ago
Since you brought it up, what is an illegal order, since you know military.
erictherad1973 4 years ago
His order to report with his troops to an illegal war is instrinsically illegal. There is a long list of the reasons this war is illegal, starting with the fact that our membership in the UN is, as a treaty, part of American law (per the U.S. Constitution) and we breached that treaty by attacking Iraq. There's more . . . interested?
cwmorse 4 years ago 2
I'm sorry, but you are wrong. The war intrinsically legal, sanctioned by the UN Security Council resolution. Also sanctioned by violation of the peace treaty signed by Saddam Insane in 1990. An illegal order is an order in which a crime would occur if said order would be committed. I'm interested in the more part....please enlighten
erictherad1973 4 years ago
The Security Council did NOT sanction any invasion; President Bush says so in this video. Our treaties are U.S. law no matter what Sadaam did. At the time we invaded there was sufficient intelligence to verify that Iraq had no WMDs, no means of delivering any if they did, no ties to Al-Qaida or any connection to the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. judgments at Nuremberg exclude the defense of obeying orders. And we have breached the Geneva Conventions, endangering our own military.
cwmorse 4 years ago 4
Go Watada, YOu stood up for humanity when it needed a man of his words and you truly are a hero for humanity, morality and ethics and yes " i was just following orders is never an excuse".

i wish that people would quit giving these people attention he signed the paper. he's just a coward, and yes i hsve been in iraq.
bristertwister 4 years ago
he signed a paper which includes reference to military codes of conduct which states it is a soldiers' duty to reject the orders of a commander if the deceptively and immorally put soldiers at peril with lawless intent.

MSVLian 4 years ago
Do you know the military codes of conduct? Have you ever served in the military? If you have ever served you would know that you don't go to war for the president you go to war for your brothers besides you. These brothers are the reason that America is free and, we can sit here and question the president. We have that freedom whitout the consiquences of being punished.
bristertwister 4 years ago
wow that is hilarious, I never said we didn't have freedoms here, where did you get that, please stick to the facts. For example, 47 million americans are free to be without health care in the US. Did you hear the wonderful president of Iran laugh at Mike Wallace on 60 minutes over that and US freedoms? I heard of a young boy who just died from having the freedom of no health care.
Marly61 4 years ago
THis boy had a tooth ache without health insurance. No dentist would see him. The tooth decaying delevoped bacteria which spread to his brain and killed him. That same situation happens to 10's of thousands of americans every year because THEY ARE FREE FROM HEALTH CARE! Rich, powerful, elites don't want health care costs taking away from their corporate profits because it will result in less money available to them in salary and/or dividends.
Marly61 4 years ago
the illegal immigrants get free hleath care the same with every poor american. you probably believe we should keep them here also
bristertwister 4 years ago
That is bullshit! I have seen and been a poor american without health insurance and I could not get the care I needed even when there where free health clinics because the waiting period was 3 months and they don't perform many proceedures.
Marly61 4 years ago
That happens in no other industrialized country in the world. Is that what you are fight for? Iraq is bringing nothing home to the average american except pain, death and disgrace.
Marly61 4 years ago
all that wasted money could have been used for improving communities and lives in the US.
Marly61 4 years ago
Think of the country Iraq could be in a couple years, contributing to world trade economically and not having to suffer under a pyscho guy. Dont tell me the country pre-2003, had freedoms, living in constant fear of ur family getting killed isnt freedom from anything. When they cant have thier own country without help from us, it will be better for both countries, and cheaper for us
MSVLian 4 years ago
Iraq was close to a first world country, materially and socially but under tyranny, before americans destroyed it which they typically do to enable them to rap the country. Look at all the countries the US has tried to "help" they are now dictatorships, tyrannical or in worse condition. Our world trade ideas is hopeful however it will not benefit the Iraqis if the Iraqis parliament doesn't tell the US to leave, which they are currently contemplating.
Marly61 4 years ago
We TRIED to help, WTF about Germany, Austria,France and all those fucking countries that we MADE into existence, Dude do u realize Europe is thye way it is today from us?????/ What the hell do u think Japan would have been like if the Russians woulda taken it over! It would have been screwed over with a fucked up commie goverment and people lived terrible lives, just like eastern Europe through the 80's
MSVLian 4 years ago
Why arent u talking about our SUCCESES instead of saying how we fucked it all up, which isnt even true. Dont u think the South Koreans are thankful for our peace and the end of a gun barrel as you libs call it. THEY WOULDNT have a country if it was for US and Brits, so take a goddamn look at what we did instead of how we ruin things, we'll fix Iraq and millions of you guys will have to admit you were wrong, like the ppl that said the taliban will whoop our butts
MSVLian 4 years ago
Not only do Europeans laugh about it but many americans do also.
Marly61 4 years ago
You don't understand history, in fact in Europe they joke about this, that americans have created nothing new because it all ties back the Europe. Give me a break , I am even embrassed to respond to what you worte. No wonder our military is the way it is.
Marly61 4 years ago
Then they are wrong, yes if we go back to it, we wouldnt have a country without brittain, but I wasnt talking 200 years ago, im talk 60 years ago. The Euros are seriously delussional if they think we didnt save them, who do they think woulda liberated Western Europe, England?????? Good luck with that, it wouldf have taken them 30 years. The military the way it is????? Yes i would say since we have the best military in the world, no body else has stealth fighters or 8 carriers
MSVLian 4 years ago
Our military sucks, they can't ever beat the Iraqis third-world freedom fighters. THE FRENCH WON THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR FOR AMERICA, any historian will tell you that. The french gave ALL the arms, gun powder, ships etc.. The french had more men fighting then the americans. Your lack of education proves so many of my points. THE french won our independence first.
Marly61 4 years ago
jesus christ man, how about we just say France gave us everything!
MSVLian 4 years ago
That is hilarious, about George, he was considered at best an average commander however for the "Official History" we had to play him up. He was only good at encouraging the troops to fight against there interest and support the elites.
Marly61 4 years ago
It has also been proven that america purposely waited as long as it could to interven in france so europe could destroy as much as possible of itself before america would intervene limiting its casualties and so america could profit from supplying what was needed to rebuild europe.
Marly61 4 years ago
WE profited form bulding post war Europe , that the craziest fucking thing ive heard on youtube short of Bush bombed Twin towers. NO OTHER country in existence then and now, would have rebuilt most of a CONTINent like we did, we gave u billions to make ur country modern and gave france a chgance to fight agaisnt the Soviets. They owe us at least a simple thanks instead of bitching and denying us our honor in WW2 by saying they coulda done it without us.
MSVLian 4 years ago
OH SHIT don't tell me you actually believe that we were fighting against the russians during the cold war. Well given that you live in such a shitty country I can understand how hard it is to get the truth. We were not against the Russians. Our gov't says that to americans so we can steal resources from others while making it look like we are doing something good. I can give you info on where you can get official gov't documents saying all of this.
Marly61 4 years ago
Hey man how about take a critical look at other countries for 1% of the time u spend on US? U might know about the other countries but u fail to give US credit for fucking saving WESTERN civilz. 2 times! Goddamn man
MSVLian 4 years ago
You really don't understand the world and morality. It is cowardly to critize another country that you know can do nothing to you and who you have no effect on. I could critize Russia and it would have no effect, so I chose to critize the county I live in because I know it best. And by the way the US has negatively effected more countries than any other so it so happens I like to critize the worst also.
Marly61 4 years ago
Ok, that last comment u made is wrong man, i think most people would agree with me. Come on man, we turned many of our ENEMIES into nice countries after we whooped thier ass, tell me how many other countries have done that, NONE other than Rome. US is the nicest country in modern times, what about Japan man, u know that it was us who stayed there and rebuilt it, and were the worse, why do u think that when MILLIONS of ppl are thankful for what weve done for them, just ask Koreans
MSVLian 4 years ago
Ok maybe its wrong morally to pick on these countries that are lower than us, but at least you admitted they cant do SHIT!!! haahaha, anyway, if there lower than us AND doin bad things (Sudan) why the fuck would it be wrong if we bullied a country, think of the people man, not your own isolatrionist idea for the US. and i know ull say were evil and all thids shit but thats just not true, its being proven in afghanistan right now by getting girls in school
