  • I don't think that there are many magicians that would make it to the end of the routine without anyone catching anything from the whole routine... Tommy Wonder is a legend! R.I.P

  • That black man with the glasses.... Is in every freaking f*cking magic video from the 90's .....

  • Simply astounding!

  • AT 2:8 YOU CAN SEE HIM TAKING THE BLUE BAG AS HE IS MAKING APPEAR THE TWO BALLS IN THE HAND OF THE LADY AT THE SAME TIME RIGHT IN THEIR NOSES AND NOBODY NOTICES WHAT A GENIUS....JA JA JA

  • His humor makes for excellent misdirection

  • Mr. Wonder's audiences saw REAL magic. A legend ~ thank you!

  • watch ->Bill malone ultimate 3 card monte in youtube.

The same black guy. Probably the audience is fake.

  • @ankan064 True, it is him. Guess he's just a major fan of magicians...

  • @ankan064 the audience is not fake, they choose people who enjoy magic and have great reactions. Imagine inviting magicians to perform for a DVD, and the audience sits there without any reactions? lmao

  • @dtextreme The L&L audience is all stooges. They use the same people all the time. They are programmed to oooo and wow in all the right places. The black guy is very annoying especially with all his fake wonderment.

  • @ankan064 try the guastoferro's brainstorm.. he also there!

  • Davids on the right!

  • the girl beside the black guy is hilarious, her reaction every time somethin happens is awesome, her eys get rounder then golf balls

  • @lfries2063 Welcome to the L&L Audience. They've rehearsed their comments and reactions for days beforehand, so they should be something special!

  • the girl in blue is cute, the girl in pink is HOT, and tommy wonder is a legend.

  • 2:09 classic sleight of hand :D

  • Omg, his version is killer..!!!

  • very kool....he got me

  • perfect

  • 2:08 you can see him take the blue thing

  • @gvcats49 did you think it did it by itself? you cant rewind in real-time.

  • @GISMCONFUSE i'm just sayin

  • @gvcats49 i rewound it hella times too lol

  • @gvcats49 1:52 he takes the magnetic blue ball (supposedly screwed on before) off the bag and inserts it into the cup in the left hand. His pinkies are extremely dexterous to be able to have that control.

  • i love L&L audience, they keep the same reaction for 20years, laugh , shock , smile and clap lol

  • @hiukiny92 Absolutely true. Bunch of hired stooges, it's all rehearsed so they oooo and aaaa in he right places.

The black guy is particuarly annoying. For example at 2.23 - 2.30 you can see him wince, rocking backwards and forwards as the balls are supposed to be penetrating with terrible ham acting. It's all completely scripted and stage managed to hype up the effect. No doubt L&L were trying to hawk it off so they have to make the spec reactions appear good.

  • @heelfan1234 Loser, have fun in your basement.

  • @wizmindfire Hahaha, I bet you don't even do this effect. Are you one of those 11 year old boys who buy everything by Elooosnerist?

  • @heelfan1234 shut up and enjoy the performance, this guys a legend

  • @rydaho1 If you want me to explain the philosophy and sleights behind the routine, feel free!

  • great routine! I still like all 3 cups at the start though.

  • this one is a jewel >>>>>>/watch?v=nYOJ5JQ4r-k

  • Probably the best routine I've seen. His misdirection and presentation is perfect. Tommy was brilliant. RIP.

  • Impeccable misdirection and presentation. I've watched this multiple times, and I still get fooled each time.

  • This is very powerful and apsolutely original routine!

  • What is interesting is that the unfair camera angle would for many magicians, catch them out and reveal the moves..But tommy is so fast and smooth, even wen you have the side view, he does it so smoothly

  • Master of masters!

  • incredibile......

  • This makes me smile every time i watch it...

  • @MagicReyme Thank you a lot for distroying the illusion. And you call yourself a magician?

  • yo that black dude must be a stooge. HES IN EVERY VIDEO!!!! hahah

  • @UnknownMagician93

There was a video production done at a show at Lake Tahoe featuring many magicians. The close-up audience didn't really change much aside from seating to keep it "varied". I think that's where this came from. Of course, there's bits and pieces of it all over YouTube.

  • Bravissimo! ho capito solo l'inizio, quando a 0:40 le prende da sotto il bicchiere e fa finta di averle tirate fuori dall'alto..

  • ....I watch i'm like wait, how did he- oh wait now h- wait but how di- GAAAH!

  • fucking amazing! im speechless.

  • I've seen that black guy in the audience in several of these videos. All different performers too. Ringer!!!!!!

  • WOW this guy's slight of hand is incredible what is really amazing about this is the misdirection. This guy is Slydini incarnate. And his funny.

  • What a loss to the magic community. This man was pure genius incarnate. I'm reading his Books of Wonder now for the first time...absolute brilliance.

  • This routine is not about whether or not you can figure it out after replaying it half a dozen times on youtube to watch his sleights, it's about the masterful misdirection employed right under the audience's nose. This version is brilliant, the final loads are relevant and astounding.

  • @pumpkinman321 true dat. The only other 'relevant' final load I have seen is Dai Vernon's. However there may be more that I am missing.

  • @yeshevishman - There's a nice version by David regal (called "Cups & Balls & Cups & Balls" I think) that has a nice surprise ending.

Also, there's a French guy (Duvivier? Something like that) who produces a fourth cup at the end - a nice shocker.

  • @TheloniousCube Funny how you mention Regal. I saw his right after leaving the above comment.

  • amazing

  • guys these are easy to figure out!

  • @ddNicKbb absolutly not, it my be easy to DO, but to do it at his caliber requires a lifetime of practice. He is truly a master of slight of hand and if you had any appreciation for this art you wouldn't just blow off such an amazing routine as "easy to do."

  • @mchkeegan OMFG!!!i said its easy to FIGURE OUT!!!!

  • HI TRIXX!

  • i just figured it out:D

  • @ddNicKbb PLease give a tutorial i will subscribe.

  • @superMagicman111 oh come i now how he did this but i cant do it myshelf:P

keep in touch i might do one although

  • @Cowbief english!!

  • SO SMOOTH!! simply the best... :O

  • And is funny too xD

  • This is awesome. I bet this guy can run his perfomance like a jazz session and work completely on the fly. With those moves there are so many routines possible.

  • Out-f@cking-rageous!!

  • The Logic is so greet

  • effin awsum !

  • R.I.P.

  • very good performance

  • awesome performance! a master of his art.

  • True but your not really going to truly learn the whys and hows of this routine if you don't have The Books Of Wonder written by Stephen Minch. There is so much more to Tommy's routine then what you see here. You try to piece it together from this clip and your just not going to be able to do it the way it was made to be done.

  • anyone know what cups he uses?

  • Viking maybe?

  • The cups Tommy used were actually custom made by Tommy himself if I'm not mistaken. But you could use whatever style cup your use to. Paul Fox, Phoenix, Sherwoods.

  • 1:28 lol O_O

  • I could watch this video a million times and never get tired of it .:)

  • Those of you saying Ricky Jay is "better". I think he's brilliant, but in a different way. He may be a better overall card handler than Tommy, but Tommy was better at misdirection. Some of the ways in which he fakes out the audience are just astounding. His stage presence was amazing. I love also the conceit that he is almost as surprised as the audience about some things that happen. Very difficult to get the audience to buy into that with him. That's TOUGH to do close up!

  • I'd have to agree with his performance...outstanding.

  • I agree with logandarklighter, you cannot (and should not?!) compare the two. Both are masters in this field and it is interesting to note how both of them have taken the oldest trick in magic and moulded it round their own personalities and capabilities as magicians.. RIP Tommy Wonder.

  • Love this one, good presentation, Tommy has a very good sense of humor he is one of my favorite magician.

  • same audience as bill malon!

  • so what?

  • It's awesome how recognizable the Dutch accent is :P

  • i watched this video billions of times..i know how he does the whole performance..but he continues to fool me all the times...genius..

  • Ricky jay only use technique but Tommy wonder.. wew.. The best misdirection I've ever seen

  • this is amazing. so original.

    -Dan

  • Einfach wunderbar.Beachtet die Misdirection.....geil!Schade das er nicht mehr unter uns ist.Für mich wird er einer der ganz großen bleiben.

  • Einfach my arse. I'd like to see you do better.

  • i know how he does exactly 'cause i bought cups and balls and a very good dvd very helpful

  • Watch his right (your right, his left) hand at 2:10. One such example of misdirection. its incredible that no one noticed. i didn't even the first time i watched it.

  • Thank you Max Maven for creating these Wonderful videos of one of the Worlds Greatest Magician. The work that Tommy Wonder put into his effect far out done anything anyone could ever begin to understand he never stopped working on them. I was Lucky to meet him in the Mid 80s, and he changed the way that I thought about magic ever since . God Bless you, Tommy Wonder may you dazzle the stars as you did for us mere Mortals, May you rest in Peace

    Russell Wagner

  • one word to descride the trick

    "misdirection"

Tommy Wonder is really awesome legend of magician~

  • I read about this in Books of Wonder - and I have to say this is one of those routines where knowing how it's done and actually doing it are totally different animals. Mr. Wonder will always be one of the greats - a master of the art - and a source of inspiration. I could watch this over and over as both a magician and a spectator and be just as entertained each time.

  • that is the best performance ive ever seen that was absolutely amazing. I do magic and got a few vids on youtube plese go to my channel watch them and tell me if they are good please. Bryson7733. THX.

  • What a wonderful routine ..The cups I like to use are the

Michael Lee millennium cups which is a larger cup that holds a big load

  • Tommy Wonder was an amazing genius! Top notch!!

  • good trick tommy, i know how you did it, but your tricks are master!

  • RIP Tommy... I still remember the first time I saw someone do this routine...I thought about it for years and literally was overjoyed to see Tommy put it out for the rest of us to enjoy....

  • all i got is when he takes them though the top

  • simply the best cups and balls rouitine..have a story, a sense..and here the magic is not only for the people..but also for the magician...

  • Hey Heelfan, its absolutely amazing how someone like you can be such a fucking moron. For the sake of humanity please dont reproduce!!

  • you burn him pretty bad lol i beleive you are good, im a magician, but not that good

  • do you think you can do that without being caught? It's easy to say "anyone can do that" but if you watch this in actual performance, I doubt it if you catch anything on this guy!

  • Heelfan

First the L&L spectators are not stooges they were very fooled by this routine and everything Tommy performed. Seeing this done on vid is much different then seeing it live. The as Tommy called it direction is lost when it comes to vids so yes his loading of the pom pom and the bag can be seen. It's obvious you like to argue and make yourself look like a fool. why is that? Remember the old saying. It's better to be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  • I think u are a really noob. Of course, you will know how this trick done becasue you can watch video again again and again. I don't believe you know how to do it when you just watch one time only..so stfu noob!!

  • If you are in live, Tommy Wonder will fool you like 3 years old kid, and we all can see you are being fooled like shit on TV lol noob..becasue you can not watch again and again in live. so stfu Trash!!

  • lol really, not much magic can fool you and I really doubt that. If you are really that good, then I want to show you some godly magic videos and tell me how magician did them. I want to see how smart you are. Please type "Cyril Money Maker" and tell me how cyril did these coin magic. You can e-mail me in private. Show me you talent, Noob!

  • amazing, this routine using such unique sleights compared to the moves i learned on my dvd. i spotted 3 moves lol, at 0:56 he drops the balls from his left to his right.

at 1:05 on the far side of the table he picks up the blue ball.

at 2:10 he grabs the blue sock thing. this guys a genius. i only spotted these coz ive seen this so many times.

  • Simply THE best C&B routine ever.

Latimier's has some nice stuff, but never have I seen one as brilliant, and entertaining as Wonder's.

    Farquar's comes close.

But if I could only do only ONE C&B routine for the rest of my life, it would be this one.

  • wow, the misdirection is just amazing!!!

    great magician, very funny routine.

  • great magican

  • were does these people come from? insane

  • is at 2:12 the guy whos laughing Davad Hasslehoff?

  • Your Trick will never be abandoned by us,magician and magiclovers. You are the one of the great magician that ever live.Good Bye and Rest In Peace The Great Tommy Wonder

  • is it possible to passible? :)

  • God, that's clever stuff. Really original take on an ancient classic. Thoroughly entertaining.

  • i agree that was incredible

  • he really is amazing,, does anyone know what kind of cups hes using???

  • magical ones?

  • I just finished reading The Books of Wonder a two volume set which teaches you how to try and be a magician, knowing the secret is not enough. Hard work, dedication and some talent is also required... with this book, Tommy Wonder has helped me become a better performer. available at your favourite magic store...

  • A classic of magic performed by a classic of magic.

  • The joke is that the third ball that appears is a decoration from his bag. He later reattatches it.

  • Really? In all actuality, only weakminded people need to know the secrets to magic tricks.

  • It's nested in between the cups.

  • and that's magic .. how many times did you watch it to find out huh .. ?

  • Two things: 1. The important part of the video is his presentation and amazing audience management. This is why Tommy is the master of "direction" since he gives you something interesting to look at while he does the "work."

    2. Yes, that lady in the pink shirt is really good looking.

  • KingofNynex stated, "it's a routine that almost every magician has done and it's been played out a lot".

That is simply not true. This is a routine that almost no magicians perform. Most magician's do the Dai Vernon/Michael Ammar routine which is much simpler because it does not require as much misdirection.

This routine is incredibly difficult to pull off which is why so few magicians actually perform it. The moves are not hard, but the misdirection is hard.

  • This is so nice :-)

  • he died?? D=

  • Yes. That's very sad. He died of cancer. As there's a saying in chinese goes, "The Heaven jealous of a talented man". If Tommy Wonder had lived, I think he will be the world's best magician and will come up with more great magic.

  • i agree.

  • We lost a great man to that damn disease. It's a crime.

  • Fantastic!

  • god this is fucking brilliant

  • that chick in the pink shirt is fucking hot

  • This is great! I like this one!

  • KingOfNynex, he's doing magic for laymen. That's what counts. Nobody really cares that you are a magician and know most of the sleights and how he does them.

  • Gratz, you're cool?

  • KingOfNynex what's your point? I watched your video, anyone can buy a trick and call themselves a magician. Compare your patter, presentation, routining and style to Tommy Wonder. I too know the sleights involved in the cups and balls as well as how your trick was done. There is simply no comparison. I could watch Tommy's performance 1000 times and never get bored. Watching your performance once was painful and as exciting as watching paint dry. I suggest you get a couple of Tommy's books1

  • Johnny Paul and tommy wonder masters at the cups and balls.

  • michael ammar too ;)

  • tommy wonder is a living legen in magic

  • unfortunately no longer living.

  • oh wow...i had to watch this 4 times to see some of how he did some tricks....amazing

  • The best i've ever seen.

  • I love his routine. It's unique, clever, and charming. I love how the humor in many of his tricks, (not just this one) comes from the idea (never said outright, but implied) that he's not -completely- in charge of his magic! That it surprises him almost as much as the audience! Of course he is a master and knows what's coming perfectly well. But very good acting on his part to act surprised and have the audience buy into it with him!

  • I love Tommy Wonder. A genuine legend.

  • Tommy Wonder es uno de los mejores magos de las Vegas... ésta es una prueba de ello
