I think that Jimmie isnt going to win a 5th title, because he never does bad at Martinsville, and he did this time. well, worse than usual. he is now only 6 points ahead of denny hamlin, and usually hes farther ahead by now than that

im honestly doubting Jimmie Johnson's 5th consectutive title. he hasnt been very good, and even though he will be up towards the front in the chase this year, he hasnt been as good as he has been in his history from the last 4 seasons. he usually dominates, and he hasnt been very dominant. i honestly think that denny hamlin will win the championship this year. theres no doubt in my mind that jimmie isnt gonna beat him.

this is the season that made me hate jimmie johnson...this was SO jeff gordon's championship..so unfair how the chase fucks a driver over...hell i even felt bad for kyle busch last year even tho i hate him...but the chase fuckin sucks ass...whats the point of even tryin to run hard in the first 26 races...as long as u make the chase, u can run half ass for the first part of the season....it should have also been gordon's championship in 2004...he should be goin for his 7th championship this year

Yeah, but who was leading the standings by a HUGE lead when the chase started? Jimmie was pracitcally given the points lead, no way he earned it. I mean sure, he won 6 races going into the chase, but if this was still the Winston Cup, Jeff would be a SIX-time champion. NASCAR fucking changed the points system so Jeff couldn't win. Bottom line: Jeff won. It should be called not the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, it should be the NASCAR We Aren't gonna have Jeff Win Again Series! FUCKIN' NASCAR!!!!

I am a Johnson fan and I agree with you 100%. But NASCAR changed the rules because the fans were crying how Matt Kenseth won the championship with only one win while Ryan Newman had 8 wins in 2003 and finished 6th in the points. But I guess they didn't realize that Newman had 7 finishes of 37th or worse. You finish poorly that many times, you don't deserve the championship.

Consistency wins the championship in the old system but the new system is what it is. The fans have to live with it.

I guess that's another good reason to. I mean, personally, I like the chase, but I don't like how it's costed Jeff the championship. I think Jimmie's cool, too, so at least it's not like Kyle Busch won the cup or something. Jimmie's one of 5 guys I like to see win the championship. the other 4 are Jeff Gordon, (obviously), Jr., Carl Edwards, and Mark Martin. I'm excited to see Mark come to HMS next year.

fearthehawks- I was reading that Knaus has been suspended 4 times in the 6 years he's been a crew chief. On top of that he's been caught cheating a total of 6 times. Johnson wouldn't have ran away with it had there been no Chase. He was 433 points behind Gordon at the end of 26 races. If they had not reset the points Johnson would have finished 353 points behind Gordon at the end of 36 races. Gordon far outperformed Johnson over 36 races. If you think Johnson would have run away with the title under the old points system then I wonder what races you were watching because it wasn't the same ones I watched.

Gordon got screwed out of the title because of the pathetic "chase format". The media keeps talking about how awesome Johnson's team was. In all actuality Gordon outscored Johnson in 20 races and had more Top 5's and Top 10's. I am not even a Gordon fan but I just find it sad that this points system crowns a champion that had a worse season than the 2nd place driver did. Nascar has turned for the worse since they started this Chase crap.

You're supposed to be good for all 36 races of the year. Everyone is under the same chase format and all drivers know what they have to do to win the championship. Gordon didn't have the luck and the performance that Johnson did. He didn't get it done down the stretch and that is why Johnson is the champion.

Before the Chase a team had to be good for 36 races. If you look at the old system Gordon would have beat Johnson by 353 points. It's not about 36 races anymore it's about 10 races. The other 26 are just making sure you're in the top 12. Bowyer finished 3rd but should have been in 8th spot 899 points behind the leader. Playoffs work in stick & ball sports but it can't work properly in racing. Having drivers be able to catch up to teams that have out performed them is not racing in my mind.
