Torture? Waterboarding and sleep deprivation is torture. During Basic Training we had lots of sleep deprivation, we had to go into gas chambers, live fire excersises. Were we tortured? NO!! and neither is waterboarding. Obama forgets to tell people that the Red Cross is there at GITMO to ensure proper treatment. Keep GITMO or send them all to San Fransisco.

I've never watched The West Wing, but thank you for the clarification. Also, while it is not all scripted, he certainly has an outline of what he is going to discuss. Uhhs and ummms can be expected by even the most eloquent of speakers but he can't get through 3 words without inserting one or both.

I do agree that extreme caution is needed so as not to tip the hand of this administrations socialist agenda. Just in case you were hoping for some common ground...

What he says is infinitly more important than the number of pauses he makes. I would rather have someone briefing the press who is actually thinking about what comes out of his mouth than someone who just says what comes to mind...sort of the gumball machine approach.

I believe that U.S. super max prisons would actually be more restrictive than what the prisoners at Gitmo now encounter. Aren't super max prisoners pretty much kept in isolation from one another? From the pictures I've seen of Gitmo prisoners, they seem to be able to socialize with other prisoners. I know that the argument has been put forward that they would have access to computers and other means of outside communication, but can't the courts deny that to them if they are that dangerous?

But thats bogus. Max security prisons are heavily, or at least can be heavily guarded, allow for openness of a legal process and clear up a disgusting time in our history and show the world that we can be above barbaric tactics, at least in regards to prisoners.
