Glad Disney isn't doing these DTV sequels anymore. They were part of the Eisnerism that was taking away Disney's magic, and John Lasseter came in and saved Disney Animation from making these abominations. Now, if only Disney Channel could be saved from the teenybopper invasion.

@Insuliinikorva It's "direct-to-dvd" for a reason, and goodness knows the odds of it being a good movie are astronomical. Don't get this movie if you love the first. I mean, yeah it has some original voice actors and the animation is stunning, but ANYTHING you'd expect to see in Ariel's beginning just isn't there. Ursula isn't even there!

@animedragon123 I personally thought the animation was amazing. In The Return to the Sea the animation was at a much lower quality than this movie, which had soft lines and flowing movements typical of underwater characters. Being an animator of three years now, I feel my opinion ought to be counted here.

It's a prequel to the first movie. The Little Mermaid.

It's where Ariel & Flounder first met. It also talks about why music was originally forbidden in the underwater kingdom of Atlantica by King Triton. But of course we all know that Ariel loves music & she tries to change that.
