  • I like how Anne and Elizabeth are shown having a warm mother/daughter relationship. It's too bad that Anne later married a man who sexually molested Elizabeth and blamed her for it when Anne caught him with her on one occasion. There was a whole investigation about it, but Elizabeth ended up leaving Anne's home and Anne's husband got off scotch-free.

  • @SenseOrSensibility That is not quite accurate. Anne never remarried after Henry VIII and her divorced. What you may be thinking of would be after Henry's death, Catherine Parr (his sixth and final wife) married Thomas Seymour, and the couple took Elizabeth into their home. Elizabeth and Thomas allegedly had an affair, and as you say, they were discovered. After this Elizabeth was sent away. But Anne of Cleves is certainly not the one you are thinking of.

  • That girls been neglected, ignored, talked about. Elizabeth and Mary both went through alot.

  • my dear elizabeth, i knew there was a reason why you were always my favorite in english history!

  • I think Elizabeth did a GREAT JOB. She's not beautiful outright, but her looks grow on you, just like Natalie Dormer when she's playing Anne. Natalie is obviously really pretty but when I first started watching, I didn't think so at the time, but by the end she portrayed her role so well it was hard not to think that! And Elizabeth did a great job of portraying some of her mother, like when she curtsies and looks up at the same time and how it seems like she is obviously very witty and sharp

  • Elizabeth was living with Anne of Cleves? Who raised Elizabeth?

  • @Serenity113 Elizabeth did not live with Anne of Cleves but Anne of Cleves often inviter her and Mary. if I am not mistaken, she was raised by Lady Bryan and then by Catherine Ashley.

  • SHOWTIME: You idiots. Don't you know you ditched out one of Elizabeth's most influential experiences. Robert Dudley's meeting at childhood. Sir Thomas Seymour's affair. You have deprived me of my Elizabeth at youth. My Queen as a girl. (by the way, totally random, but a great book of Liz's life is in "Legacy" the novel of her from birth to death, beautiful) In any case, this little red headed girl playing her was stunning - could've tried to be a little more like Natalie, lips and gracefullness.

  • I always wonder about that glance between Elizabeth and Anne when they're curtsying. Its almost like they're conspiring something between them.

  • Me too I wished that Elizabeth had a bigger role, sorry but to be honest sometimes I really didn’t like Mary she was just whinnying at someone or something if it wasn’t Anne it was Anne of Cleves (at first) or Katherine Howard, or Katherine Parr, or Cromwell…. I know that she suffered a lot but so did Elizabeth and but wasn’t bitching around

  • To those of you who say the actress who plays Elizabeth isn't exactly fantastic: true, her lines do sound very scripted. But keep in mind, she's talking to the king, the man who had her mother killed in part because of her sharp tongue. Elizabeth had to watch everything she said; one slip cound have easily ignited the king's temper. I think they potrayed this very well.

  • she looks the part and what not but she's not a particularly good actress, but i still can't get enough of this show akdjkaljdaj <3

  • I love the cute little look of surprise on Elizabeth's face when Henry tells her he has a gift for her. In that tiny amount of time, she's just a regular daughter excited about getting something special from her Dad. :)

  • i love elizabeths dress!

  • She's quite perfect as the gawky Elizabeth who is jsut starting out in life.

  • I love seeing Elizabeth on the Tudors; they really should've expanded her part rather than casting her to the shadows (although that's what they did in real life). I don't think the character really developed. Sarah Bolger had time to make Mary her own, and seperate her a bit from Catherine, whereas Elizabeth had three different actresses and never got away from being Anne's Daughter. Whatever. I still love the scene, and still think the actress portraying the future Queen is quite lovely.

  • @iluvwinterweather Elizabeth was rightly cast and it was more about Henry VIII than it was about his children, mainly Elizabeth. I personally think that Mary was right to be more prominent since she had a more prominent role in Henry VIII's life than Elizabeth really did. Elizabeth's time of prominence came quite later and I think it's better to be more accurate about the roles that Henry's daughters played in HIS LIFE rather than really make Elizabeth more prominent in his life than she was.

  • @TheNuharoo I do love that they expanded on Mary I. Most movies just claim she was evil and that's it; there's little sympathy for her.

  • @iluvwinterweather So many people don't understand the level of misery she went through and how much she lost and at the most impressionable possible age. I for one think this series finally showed the extent of what she suffered.

  • @TheNuharoo I agree completely; I would've gone mad in situation. I was also disappointed that they never even mentioned Lady Jane Grey on the show. It's kind of understandable, seeing as they never mentioned her mother Frances and pretty much screwed up the whole Mary/Margaret thing, but I would've loved to have seen a scene with her, Edward, Mary and Elizabeth as sort of a nod to the future King and Queens.

  • She is not what id call a typicale beauty but there is something about her :-) I hope we will see her in feature movies.

  • I love the moments between Henry and his children. The good, loving, sweet ones. :)

  • The girl who played Lucy in the "Narnia" movies would've been good for the part of Elizabeth.

  • @HistoryLover1550 I never thought of her for that but i agree with you. i think she would have been a bit of a better fit

  • @thena107 And she's a talented young actress.

  • @HistoryLover1550 Georgie would've been fabulous! I like Laoise too though. But Elizabeth is more known for red hair than Mary is, and I can't imagine Henley becoming ginger! :)

  • @harrypotterinnarnia I could picture Henley with auburn hair, I think she would look good. It would've been sweet if there were scenes of young Elizabeth and Robin Sudley in love. I would've liked to have seen Skandar Keynes or Noah Ringer play Robin.

  • Esta escena es muy linda... !! excelente interpretación de todos los actores!!!!! Bellos todos!!!!

  • @HistoryGirl345 I don't understand how you mean she is awful?

In history Elizabeth was portrayed as very old for her age and knew many langauge including Spanish, French and Latin. I don't understand how she does not portray Elizabeth here.

  • This is a lovely scene. The actress that plays Elizabeth is a little wooden, but I think it was because Elizabeth was mindful to behave herself now that she is in her father's good graces. Joss Stone is delightful as Anne of Cleves as always. I think Henry 8 really respected Anne of Cleves after all.

  • I love this scene with Henry and Elizabeth. I think that they did a great job casting this girl as Elizabeth That is my opinion

  • @elinheartstristin, gee I know that lol, anyway too me it is boring, but to them it was like watching a concert. Times were different...

  • I like Elizabeth in this scene! What are you peopel talking about I think she really shines in the scenes she's in!

  • @hotchick1860 I agree with you. I think she does a good job. I think she would be nervous to be around her father and probably a bit self concious, as most girls her age would be.

  • @hotchick1860 She's not bad at all. It would've been nice to have seen her being intelligent, headstrong, and a rising star as we all know the real Elizabeth was in the show.

  • @HistoryLover1550 The actress playing Elizabeth is quite good. What else do you expect from her? She can't really act like a Queen of England can't she? Her childhood was insecure, dangerous and unhappy so she was cautious, shy and quiet.

  • @ekateri28 Right, as a matter of fact when she was 6 she was shown naked to French Ambassadors cause she was being offered as a bride to one of their princes and they needed to make sure she had no blemishes or deformities on her. After her experience with Thomas Seymour, she hardly trusted men.

  • Is there a special technique used for the women to drop to the floor like that? it's very quick.

  • Elizabeth had been trained since childhood to behave a certain way and was once reported to have conversed with one of her fathers courtiers as gravely as a woman of 40. The actress here i think does a good job portraying that part of her personality. elizabeth new that her position in her fathers favor was precarious and acted accordingly.

  • @AikokoXD At age 6 she even knew how tobehave in processions and she studied languages since the age of four!

  • Anne of cleves is just a friend of the king henry or she can served him

  • i love the tudors, but theres something not right about the actress playing elizabeth.

  • The scene was wonderful, but the dance, was yawn so boring.

  • @mckfrr that's how they danced in that era and part of the world

  • I love The Tudors. The actress playing Elizabeth plays the part well and Jonathan Rhys Meyers is nothing short of hot!!

  • @HistoryGirl345 I think Elizabeth is perfect, she looks like what I'd imagine the real Elizabeth might have looked like as a child, not a Hollywood manufactured doll

  • @HistoryGirl345 I just meant she was very proper and mature for her age

  • Umm is she sitting on Henry's bad leg?

  • i absolutely love the TUDORS

  • damn it, the actress looks perfectly fine and pretty! I think she's charming!

  • I think the person who play elizabeth is a perfect match because history say when elizabeth was young but when she spoke she spoke as if u were talking to a adult

  • @ScienceGeekGurl27 Back in those times kids were expected to behave and dress like their parents.

  • @HistoryLover1550 Thats true if i was Elizabeth i would have acted like anne all the time temper and all ! lol

  • @ScienceGeekGurl27 Totally!

  • @HistoryLover1550 Thats ashame that anne of cleves saw mary and elizabeth more then henry

  • @ScienceGeekGurl27 Ikr Henry could've grown more closer to them if he saw them more often.

  • @HistoryGirl345 Well, you would probably act stiff, too, if your mother was beheaded for witchcraft and incest!

  • @TheInundation

absolutely !!! her acting is very good, I like it. I don't know what everyone's going on about. she plays the role with elegance and cautiousness.

  • also i don't mean to be anal but the crimped hair is bothering me. only parts of it are crimped so if they were going for natural i would have to say FAIL. curly would have been better or straight. also i think this is the worst casting choice for a character on the tudors since season 2 jane. she is a bit wooden. i'm sorry i shouldn't ripped the girl to shreds like that. but on another note i absolutely adore anne of cleves. she is by far the nicest of henry's wives. she loves all his kids

  • elizabeth should be around 8 i think not as old as she is being portrayed in the show. also did anyone find henry's clapping to be bit rude. like he didn't really care for what she had to say. maybe it's just me but i felt he was insincre towards her.

  • @fleurgi yes I thought his clapping was a bit odd, sort of mocking. Anne humiliated him time and time again and she very rarely said nice things to say to him. Like Henry said very little nice things to Katharine prior to divorce. I think he felt very threatened by Elizabeth because she reminds him of her mother.

  • @fleurgi Elizabeth was 13 when Henry died. I don't think he was clapping to be rude, he was just amazed by Elizabeth's dancing and wanted to surprize her and Anne.

  • The actress portraying young Elizabeth has a bio that reads that this is only her second experience acting. I believe the casting agent may have chosen her as they imagined she would be a little awkward and stiff on camera as that may be how young Elizabeth actually felt around her seldom seen and intimidating father's visits.

  • @csure09 When Elizabeth was 6 she was shown naked to the French ambassadors when she was offered as a bride to a prince. Elizabeth ws sensitive in her youth, and I think Laoise Murray played that part of her well.

  • I thought the actress did well. The real Elizabeth likely had very little interaction with her father her entire life. To have him suddenly drop in on her, someone who is such an intimidating figure to so many, and for her to handle it with such ease despite sounding so nervous I think is wonderful.

  • It would be wonderfull if Rachel Hurd Wood was playing Elizabeth!!!!! <3

  • @HistoryGirl345 It does sound like she's reading her lines for the first time, but I was wondering if she was suppose to be like that way...like she was choosing her words carefully for fear of offending Henry?

  • Henry never should have divorced Anne of Cleeves, and after Howard he should have remarried her. She is my favorite of all his queens and the one the least is known about. I also feel she was the smartest as she knew how to play her politcal hand and stay alive and in high esteem. I love the portrayal of her in this series.

  • not sure about this. i think the actress for elizabeth (anyone know who she is by the way?) is too old for how old elizabeth should've been at the time, but elizabeth wouldn't be the intelligent, fierce, warrior queen she became until much later, so yeah, i don't expect her to be elizabeth just yet.

  • It's not Elizabeth I have a problem with, if we are going to talk details, lets look at the fact Henry is missing a couple hundred pounds or so...Elizabeth looks fine. At this point in History, Henry was fat and disgusting.

  • That got heavy handed with making Charles Brandon look like his portraits but Henry is still the same? 0_o And I just can't accept this actress as Elizabeth when you look at who her parents are on the show. And the portraits of her at this time (given they made a time leap) portrayed her as a pretty young girl.

  • @LordLivius I know what you mean... it's a red-head girl whose parents are both brunettes. It makes no sense at all. And of course she looks way older than what she should.

  • You seem to be perfectly fine with the fact the Henry is not 400lbs like he should accurately be portrayed. Elizabeth is just fine.

  • @HistoryGirl345 Your right because she was only 8 or 9.. she was born in 1533 and this would have been around 1541 or 1542. Because he was only married to Kathrine Howard from 1540 to 1542.

  • @dkbcare I think what it is is nerves. I could tell just how nervous she was the whole time so that could be it. While I love Elizabeth I too, she is also my favorite queen of all time, I think the actress is doing a decent enough job at it. Maybe I'm just not as picky about it as some are. Although I have to agree with you she does look way too old. Granted, Mary's hardly aged in the last two seasons.

  • I think think she was told to act that way. Elizabeth knows what happened to her mother so she is probably thinking before she is speaking incase her father were to want to find some reason to rid of her. She is obviously much older in the show than in that time in history, so she is able to comprehend danger.

This scene makes me think he is possibly wanting Elizabeth to grow to be an intelligent woman like her mother. If only he could of seen what she would become.

  • I.... hope the acting for Elizabeth gets better. After watching Cate Blanchett, this kind of ruins it for me. :/

  • It bugs me that Elizabeth looks about eight years older than she should be.

  • What was that Anne said when he said he came for supper?

  • @MizzYoli She said, "I think we might be able to find something in the larder". The larder being where they stored food in this time period.

  • @celticstuffrox Thank you.

  • Yeah she isn't that great. Maybe they have told her to act in that way.

  • @HistoryGirl345 I like her. Why do you think she's awful?

  • Awe I love the father daughter moment between Henry and Elizabeth :)

  • @HistoryGirl345 She is kind of stiff, isn't she? I'm still puzzled as to how she jumped three years between Anne's marriage and divorce.

  • @Viorica8957 I think it's a case of "SORAS", Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.

  • @Taopuppy actually even though for us it was only 3/4 years in the series its been about 30 years? since Henry began his regin the series has so much to cover that it has to skip a few years to keep up with the majore events such as Henrys queens and wars while soaps just change the childs age over night yet keeping the same time line of its plot

  • I love this scene! You can tell that Henry really cares for Elizabeth. He looked a little bit hurt when she got up uncomfortably from his lap. I really hope their relationships strengthens!

  • i love this scene with henry and elizabeth at least it shows he cared for her more than people say
