  • Some shit just needs to be left alone and covering Fugazi would be one of them for me. And just because Billy Talent may be one of someones fave bands, does not automatically make this good. The band really should have shown some respect and refrained from playing it on this occasion given the MTV Pepsi factor. Not the worst cover of this tune but no one can hit the intensity that Fugazi delivers on this one.

  • First of all, who cares if the fans don't know Fugazi? Hence the point of playing it for a crowd. If they didn't know them, they will now.

Second: It has been widely acknowledged that Ben's voice doesn't sound like Ian's from Fugazi. Get over it.

  • and out of all those dipshit kids in the crowd, not a fucking one of them knew the words. All of them were too busy crowd-surfing (not happening on Ian MacKaye's watch), headbanging, and mugging it up for the camera. I hate MTV. I really do.

  • Why are there so many dislikes?

  • @mb73527 Billy talent play a fugazi song.

  • pedały i pepsi. no coment

  • the cover isnt as bad as most people are making it out to be, its just the idea of playing it on MTV with frat guys stickign their tongues out at the 'fan cam' that makes this kind of uncomfortable for me

  • Billy Talent should cover songs of christina aguilera or what that hoe is called...

    they sound so gay...

i guess i have to puke..

  • its terrible that this entire crowd has no idea what this is and its even worse how they completely butchered this song into peices

  • This version blows, I'm going off to listen to the original.

  • Did I just throw up in my mouth...yep, that's vomit alright!

  • wank

  • With THAT voice he shouldn´t destroy a real classic...give it up BT!

  • fuck this shit, but fugazi is great

  • Oh for fuck sake, Billy Idol, WHY?

  • those Billy Talent's fans don't even know this song...

  • lol I love how 90% of their fans don't know the words, most of them have probably never heard of fugazi, a shame.,

  • @TheOrangeLemon its sad too, i mean billy talents a pretty diverse band you know what i mean? they arent a super shitty carbon copy band like these screamo bands being practicaly manufactured like robots. but they were pretty unique hha

  • fucking horrible lead vox, the instrumentals are great though. try some public image limited cover instead.

  • Wow. Way to trash a brilliant song, Billy Talent.

  • Wow. Way to trash a brilliant song, Billy Talent.

  • A fucking great song but a bad pseudo 08/15 mainstream band on mtv ... i wanna puke!

I love Fugazi, fuck this shit !

  • This band reminds me of those people that try to be hip and edgy but just look incredibly silly doing it.

  • it makes me very very sad that ian mackaye wouldve okayed this at some point

  • the singer should be killed for ruining this song. fucking worthless.

  • doesn,t even come close to fugazi!!!!!

  • Everything about this, from the crowdsurfing to, in particular, the consumerist advertising, is the complete antithesis of what Fugazi stood for and believed in. Shocking.

  • This is a terrible rendition. The fact that this band chose to cover it on corporate Mtv with Pepsi sponsorship shows they do not understand Fugazi.

  • it's not THAT bad, and just seeing a mainstream band cover fugazi makes me happy.

  • @CaptianBlindfold

wtf mainstreamband ? I'd consider paris hilton as mainstream, but just keep 'mainstream' out of the comment section of a rockvideo geez <__<

  • This cover is about as bad as George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg raping Indiana Jones

  • los jotillos rebeldes

  • Fugazi cover with the MTV on the right upper corner and presented by Pepsi...... i am speakless......

  • @gnarvin I did hear the ranicd and rhcp version's and thought it couldn't get worse and than I heard this.. hahaa . I wonder if Lars from Rancid and Ian are still friends. Lars covered it so awful

  • murdered

  • this is the worst cover of such a epic song!

  • @doseofant you clearly haven't seen the rancid cover, thats by far the worst cover of any song ever.

  • holy shit. Fugazi had enemies and they aren't doin too bad by the looks of this

  • i wonder if half of the ppl know what is going on lol and he sounds like a little girl

  • I´m one of those stupid kids from nowadays and I say : "bad cover"

  • If one kid in that audience is moved to get into the garage and tear it up from listening to Fugazi lyrics coming out of a guy who looks like a post-pubescent Justin Beiber and sounds like Lo-Pan, I'm all for it.

  • like these kids where not even on the planet when this song came out

  • Wow. This is god-awful.

  • what is this shit?

  • oh my god this is next to rancid trying to cover this song. some songs should not have been covered and this is it. this band sux ass and so does the singer. ian should pay a visit to this guy and beat the living shit out of him and then go and pay a visit to tim and the rest of the crew of rancid and bitch slap all of them like the 3 stooges. get it right folks punk is not commercial tv i mean mtv and the bands that play there suck ass.

  • what a horrible voice..sounds like Beavis...poo very smelly.

  • The cover sucks and the singer sounds like he's puking, which is what I did when I saw this

  • personally i think I would like it more if I hadn't heard fugazi's origional first but nothing beats the original of this song. and Blueprint is still my favorite fugazi song.

  • that was pretty kickass. i love fugazi and billy talents first 2 albums but most of their fanbase pisses me off. and come on, mtv? pepsi?

  • i guess that's a matter of opinion. and a band that has videos running up and down on mtv all day is an mtv-band for me.

  • Ignoring the context, as a cover, it's really not that bad. It's pretty odd hearing it at expensive high quality.

  • yeah look at the fans none of them know the words lol

  • What I really love is seeing an MTV-band covering Fugazi on MTV.

  • @TrixiLovesYou Billy Talent isn't an MTV band...

  • @ItsCameron9 Yes they are

  • I don't listen to Billy Talent, don't plan on ever doing so .... But I accually like Rancid, and I thought that cover was BAD, and this was good.

  • I gotta say rancids cover is respectable and I'm into talent but this doesn't do it for me. I don't know if u can get fugazi without experiencing it but check out waiting room at grooveshark, you might.

  • While I agree with the comments about "fugazi brought to you by pepsi"(that is pretty fucking disgusting) it's actually not bad. What cover is better than the original? I can only think of one-little wing by stevie ray vaughn

  • this is blasphemy !!!

  • Oh my God what the fuck are yall Talking about? At first, Look at these Things wich billy talent mastered like Today? I think the original Version of the Song is pretty good As well, but i really don't mind Why this Cover should Be worse! i think bens Voice Sounds better, and also mind that These Guys have only 3 voices. How the fuck could they Be an emo band? They Look everything but Not emo.

  • @MegaBlattPapier

ITS ONE OF THE GREATEST EMO BAND EVER!!

    i love bt <3

  • @MegaBlattPapier

to be an emo band doesn't mean to look like an emo^^

  • i know, i was thinking the same shit.....

  • cry more you butthurt fuGAYZI fans lulz

  • @cbappa1 What a clever pun.

  • I like how they sang ;3

  • damn, this feels wrong... wrong!

  • 'Waiting Room', as presented by Pepsi. Fucking priceless.

  • @pigeonkill joder!

  • I think they did a great job! And guys, if you think Billy talent is an emo band, please open your eyes. They are a rock band.

  • Billy "no" Talent

  • u guys can all suck a big one billy talent is the best! who the hell is fugazi? thats what i want to know

  • Fuck this shit! A emo band covering one of the greatest punk bands of all time, they should have their face kicked in!

  • @crazyflame93

Billy Talent AND Fugazi are emo bands... take a look at wikipedia^^

  • @quederfutter Fugazi is a post-hardcore band, even though they had more melodic influences from the classic rock then other hardcore bands at the time. I stand by my statement; teeth all over the floor.

  • who the hell is billy talent!?

  • they raped it. i doubt they even know who ian is, they probably were just like "oh cool song, lets rape it"

  • ruined this song.

  • funny how I never saw any of these dudes at any of the Mississauga hardcore shows and here they are covering Fugazi :P a travesty if you ask me!

  • What a shame

  • theyve never heard of fugazi

ive never heard of billy talent

    so fuck them

  • probly none of these kids know who ian or guy is let alone fugazi....haha not even minor threat.....checkout the huge crowl sing along hahahaha its kinda pathetic actually

  • how many of those billy talent fans actually know who Fugazi is? im willing to bet not a whole lot.

  • thats so terrible

  • holy fuck this is terrible

  • I find this vocalist especially vexatious.

  • Amazing cover. Anybody who doesn't appricate INDIVIDUALITY can go die.

  • a cover... i bet my left nut you've never heard this song before this. so fuckkkkk you

  • actually i have. so you can hand over your left nut now.

  • so you listened to fugazi then heard this and thought this was good? You can stay away from my left nut!

  • yes i did, because i think billy talent is one of the best rock bands out there. and aww... no nuts :P

  • well you thought wrong

  • Comment removed

  • i just saw them covering the song again on the FUMS show a week ago, where i was. it's funny to see how time flies :D

    best band ever.

  • check the audience singing along.................. oh you can't !

There are some songs you can't cover!

    This is just ONE!

  • awful cover

  • At least they're acknowledging and respecting their roots. I don't like MTV either, but no one does, even mainstream artists.

  • geiler bass

  • i love when sellout mtv bands cover songs that are actually good. the dude sounds like a whiny little fag.

  • agreed.

  • its nice to find another intelligent person on youtube

  • So exactly what do you mean by "fag"? Are you saying that because some crappy eMpTV band plays a cover that is not that great (vocal wise) they are gay and if so what is wrong with being gay?

I hope you realize Ian is not a big fan of stupid shit like that. I know him and know he would very much disapprove of calling people fags just because. Sure he is not a fan of eMpTV but many people aren't and most people could come up with a better argument against it using less bigoted speech.

  • I hope you realize the word "fag" can mean many things. I am not referring to homosexuals in anyway. I am strongly against homophobia. Words can evolve. I hope you realize fag, originally meant: sticks used as fire wood. Then it became: anyone to gathered fire wood. Then: any awkward load to carry. Then: slang for the elderly. Then it became a horrid word to describe homosexuals. And has now become slag for anything stupid or dumb, like you my friend. Mighty quick to pull the homophobic card.

  • No the word actually still is a horrid word to describe homosexuals as someone who has experienced that word in that context, I have first hand knowledge of it. If the singer sucks than just say that no need to cover it up with anything. You can just say "The singer sucks, they cannot sing and they ruined the song" boom, simple and DONE.

I am pleased you know many of the meanings of fag throughout the years most people don't know the history.

Consider changing your language and have a nice day

  • Consider accepting the way the world is. I'm sorry you've had to go through that, many poeple in this world are just plain ignorant. But really, words will change their meaning. To me fag doesnt mean what it does to you.

  • I am not giving up and accepting the world that is not the way. I don't think Ian and the rest of Fugazi would be where they are if he followed your style of advice. I understand where the world is but if it doesn't change then we are all fucked together.

But really, words might change meanings but really most don't. Why don't you go to a black neighborhood and scream nigger and then try and say well the word changed meaning. Racism sexism homophobia don't change because you say they do!

  • As long as you let the word "fag " bother you, the longer it will be used as a horrid word. Rise up, dont let peoples twisted ideas run your life. I dont let words like, "cracker, honkey, skinny, skeleton boy etc. bother me. Who cares what the world thinks. As long as your happy with yourself, the wrolds misconceptions of you dont mean shit.

  • What I really love is seeing MTV and Pepsi logos when a band is doing a Fugazi cover. Rampant consumerism is exactly what Fugazi represented, right?

  • Yes. FUCK THIS SHIT.

  • hahah, thats a brilliant observation.

  • @chevillian2 Yeah cause it really matters in the end right? wow MTV and a logo, such a fucking big deal! oh my god wooooow!!!! I like both bands but things that you say are so useless. go learn some things about billy talent.

  • @EnokiSkai Sorry, the irony was too much.

  • @chevillian2 haha, but i'm right.

  • @EnokiSkai No, I completely disagree about MTV and logos not being a big deal. I think the intrusion of advertising in music is whorish and annoying, and I hold Fugazi's career path as highly respectable. Obviously, MTV and corporate logos actually were a "fucking big deal" to those guys, or they wouldn't have willingly avoided it.

  • @chevillian2 Alright but no need to go hating Billy Talent for that. It probably was a big thing to them, they play together since 1993 and only got famous in 2003 when releasing their first album so...

  • @EnokiSkai their first album wasnt in 2003..... -.-

  • @williamtrevormcneil As billy talent it was, If you mean Pezz than it's 1998 yeah.

  • @chevillian2 never mind what's been selling, it's what you're cover(ing).

  • @chevillian2 Haha who cares.

  • SHIT

  • like all these kids know who fugazi are

  • I' m entirely sure not a single one of them have ever heard of Fugazi before.

  • Keep in mind Waiting Room was a very popular song...so there is a chance some of them might have heard of Fugazi but only in passing.

If they actually took the time to check them out and changed their diet around kept it steady at nothing (haha) they might actually be surprised that there is good music out there that doesn't come from a major corporation but a band dedicated to music 100% not too money or anything like that. Everything in and out of Fugazi has been great and they must listen.

  • woo wicked!

  • how could they just kill a song?

  • I wanna see them perform there Pezz stuff! anyone know if theres any footage of that?

  • nope, they don't perform it..:D

  • FUGAZI! FINALLY ON (M)TV!!!!!!

never thought i'd live to see the day.

  • lol i think they're too good for this scary song xD

  • Wankers- band and audience - not sure which is worse.

Murder should be legal for such cases.

  • wow this has to be worst thing i've ever seen..

  • bad cover and bad fans who dont know shit about fugazi.

  • None of these moron fans of theirs even know who Fugazi is. If they did, they wouldn't be at this douchebag show.

  • i dont think so bastard

  • Aw, c'mon now. You don't actually believe these guys could go into an 84-era DC Hardcore show, play the white washed, cookie cutter stuff they play and actually come out in one piece, do you?

  • bwahahaha!

your turn of phrase, sir, has made me happy for the rest of the day.

add to that, you are absolutely correct.

  • fugazi on MTV hahahahahahaha NO kidding !!!

  • What a totally dumb down version. Where's the bass intro with the cowbell. Dammit, it needs more cowbell!

  • musicaly, its a fantastic cover, especially for a live performance. But billy talent seriously? not a fan.

  • what kills me the most is the MTV logo

  • what kills ME the most is the pepsi logo!

  • gayest cover. ever.

  • I bet half the audience has never heard of Fugazi.

  • @cauthoncrazy more like 2/2

  • @cauthoncrazy

erverbody who is listening to posthardcore knows fugazi!!!

  • This is a fucking disgrace to the original. Does Fugazi need to give permission for this to happen? If so, they made a huge mistake.

  • uhm no only if billy talent recorded it and sold it on a CD...

  • Billy Talent's a hard-working Canadian band that started independantly and has always made honest records, they deserve respect, man. They aren't emo mainstream crap....

  • yeah this just makes me sick.

Fugazi is not was not "emo". whoever is labeling them as such was not listening to them in the 80's, 90's....they're listening to them now and putting them into the context of todays music...glad your liking them but fuck.....never thought i'd see the day Fugazi was somehow tied to Pepsi...

  • Why don't you fucking drop your stupid Fugazi pride. These guys don't have any less merit than Fugazi.

  • how much are ticket prices for billy talent?

25$, 50$, more? Fugazi never charged more then 10$. never made a video, never sold someones product to young minds...

  • So that makes them so much better than Billy Talent? Deeming them unworthy to cover one of Fugazi's songs?

  • i didnt say they were unworthy. dont get me wrong billy talent is sometimes on my ipod & the cover itself is good. its listening to a fugazi song while pepsi is flashed on the screen that sucks since fugazi has made a commitment to be non comercial, as well as trying to inspire freedom of thought in young people, while pepsi just wants you to be a good consumer and buy their sugar-water and follow their idea of "cool".

  • artists shouldnt promote commercialism, which, unfortunately, BT is doing while playing a Fugazi song...

  • "And when I finally got to work today, I ate my Subway sandwich, and I drank my Coca-Cola Classic, and then I ate my Sunchips, and I thought about the weekend when I'd fill up my Ford van with Mobil brand gas, and drive to the Clear Channel venue, and I'd drink myself a Budweiser, and play my Fender guitar through my Fender amplifier, and tell the kids with a straight face through a Shure microphone and JBL speakers that corporate rock is for suckers... Uh.. Yeah." - Bomb The Music industry!

  • "Every Fugazi record has a catalog number and a price tag, and every independent label is selling you another goddamn product." - Bomb The Music Industry!

  • yup. so mozart is akin to coke, because they are both sold and packaged....

  • "akin"?

  • "similiar, related, sharing common origin"

  • "allied by nature, partaking of the same properties.."

  • Couldn't find it on Wiktionary. But yeah, you're seeing it clearly now.

  • wrong. mozart is nothing like coke, other then being sold. coke cant stir emotions like mozart. coke is not an attempt by a person to make something beautiful, or to express something beautiful through music, for its own sake. coke is not an expression of genius and talent. coke is not art. point being, just because something is sold doesnt automatically make it worthless, or valuable for that matter.

  • There is something fucking wrong with you. NO they aren't they same in the sense of creation, of course not you nit-wit. They DO however both have price tags and serial numbers, so in that, they are the fucking SAME.

  • thanks for clearing that. maybe you just cant see my point...so go ahead smart guy bomb the music industry.

must be nice to be safe behind a computer screen when telling someone off tough guy. enjoy high school.

  • Your retarded, make up your own mind buddy.

Fugazi sold albums, oh no! They promoted DIY, anti-consumerism. Selling a 10 buck album is not consumerism, its asking for some sustinance. uno, bartering? "I made music, you enjoy, please pay?"

    Just like

"I built house you pay now."

Thats not consumerism, thats just fair. In an anarchist society trade would exist to that extent. Selling an album does not make a band a sell out.

    Fugazi did something.

What are you standing up for? Get over it you child.

  • awesome
