  • SKATE A BOWL TO THIS ON REPEATTTTTTTTTTT

  • My favorite(favourite for the English) Floyd Tune!

  • It appears to me that the U.S has put it's conscience to sleep. We as Americans will find human kinds end of childhood. Greed is what shall destroy us unless we realize we are the same energy experiencing itself subjectively.

  • "Is your conscience addressed, If one's put to the test."

  • I always get so emotional when the intro comes up, it's just so freaking beautiful :')

  • I wouldn't have if it hadn't been for my mum n dad! i was about 4 yrs old when i heard the wall and dark side!!! So the wall is my fave, but then animals is second with this (depending mood) coming in closely. I've since got all their albumns and love atom heart mother and of course echoes! WYWH is the ultimate albumn for me for best serving memories:D

  • I can imagine myself riding a camel to this song :)

  • @PatricKruspe I usually find myself riding a harley on an abandoned desert road with a joint in my mouth and badass sunglasses whenever I close my eyes to this song... but that's just me

  • One of the best songs by Floyd.

  • something about this song just puts me in a place I cant discribe....

  • Was dropping acid with a friend last night and we were listening to this album when a friend asked me if this cover picture is actually a video :D I think its actually meant to been seen on acid :P

Love the song, love the whole album. cheers

  • The 20 that didnt like this song can go listen the talentless morons that rule the ari waves of today. This music is too intelectual and complex for you to understand! I agree with nightprowlerful. This song deserves much air time!

  • Great song.I don't know why it's never gotten any airplay.

  • Who are you and who am I

To say we know the reason why

Some are born some men die

    Beneath one infinite sky

There'll be war and there'll be peace

But everything one day will cease

All the iron turned to rust

All the proud men turned to dust

    My favorite Floyd lyrics ever.

  • @karlmoles65 I've always felt the same about those lyrics, especially the last four lines. Very Floyd-like from that period.

  • @UnseenCaller It's especially the last four for me as well.

  • 60's and 70's is the shit

  • 20 Dislikes? Stop smoking crack

  • @BadHangnail and start smokin ganja

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Pink Floyd is not about the Ganja!

  • If i ever see justin bieber in the street il tie him up and make him listen to metallica, pink floyd, ac/dc, queen, etc. untill he realizes that his music sucks and kills himself in shame

  • wow

  • David Gilmour SHINES THROUGH!! Shines on later!!!!

  • thares alot of thick ppl on the net..........................get a fucking grip.........thisd song is finding your youth again when it its gone

  • I wonder if this song has something to do with that Arthur C. Clarke novel with the same name?

  • Yeah, and add them up and they're like evolution. 100 years from now, when you've long since shuffled off your mortal coil, someone will be listening to 'Childhood's Beginning' and the lyrics will be talking about McDonald's latest breakfast sensation. Why can't people just eliminate errors from lyrical postings and save us nitpickers a lot of work and heartache and having to explain things to non-purists such as yourself. Now go shout in YOUR sleep.

  • Some men die beneath one infinite sky.

There'll be war, there'll be peace.

But everything one day will cease.

    All the iron turned to rust;

All the proud men turned to dust.

And so all things, time will mend.

    So this song will end.

  • 20 people are fukin deaf

  • you can hear a lot of th Dark Side in this song (the intro reminds me Time a little).

  • Face meltage

  • Spirit; Prelude, Nothin' to Hide

  • hm i read the book childhoods end before i heard this song. and i would reccomend the book and this album. both are very good.

  • This album is not underrated! It scored #1 in france and #46 in the US! People just tend to overlook it. Stop saying it's underrated!!!!

  • @MitchTheDestroyer That's why it's underrated. It's overlooked.

  • ***

  • i love how all the floyd fans know so much trivia. i love them, you love them. show these to your kids.

  • i love this song soooooooooooooooo much!!

  • I thought the 90s had made people realise that rejecting corporate culture was the only way because of its inevitable stifling of innovation, creativity and surpressing culture itself. Consciousness and awareness was raised. If u wasn't there U DON'T really know how good it was. If u was. you know. Certain music is better and we ALL want to listen to it, don't feed the trolls (corporates!!!, commercialization!!!!) Its time, more than ever that we need to break away again.

  • @EphemeralShine

I was born in 1990 and I realize now...what a decade and what a change to present day.

  • masterpiece.

  • Early Floyd is pure magic. I like all Floyd but for me, nothing is better than post-Syd pre-Dark Side Floyd. At that time they were so creative and didn't seem to care about much except making their music. The result is some of the most unique and beautiful music ever made.

  • @peoman2

I love everything by pink floyd from 1967-1979. Their 80's records are pretty weak imo. And division bell is just good, not great but above average.

  • @peoman2 Oh I guess you'd be the last one to ask what it's about?

  • @peoman2 my friend you are 100% true!

  • I like songs from this album: "Obscured

By Clouds / When You're In"(live versions), "Burning Bridges" , "Mudmen" , "Childhood's End"(live versions) and "Stay". This is the soundtrack to the film La Valle. They recorded the music at two weeks, if I have a good memory. I prefer this album than The Wall and The Final Cut.

  • rediculous. this song caries so much weight. gives me goosebumps

  • Absolutely, I'm a HUGE Pink Floyd fan, but this album is not underrated. The songs are really, really occasional, mostly lacking any sort of climax or punchy lyrical / melodic lines.

I see a correlation between this album and the front side of Meddle (with the exception of "Fearless", which is epic). Obviously, Echoes on the back side initiates a linking of Floyd's branded spacey psychedelic rock and lyrical empathy of Dark Side of the Moon.

  • @mexicansmell

are you hearing this song? shame on you. shame

  • I'm raping so much the replay button.

  • Fantástica cancion, jamás me canso, los lyrics son muy bien realizados.

  • hey look! its a picture of a man in a tree unfocused

  • Oh god! such a beautiful song. i'm actually crying

  • Superb! Seen The Film Once, Bought the Album! Best Band Ever!

  • David's got the sexiest voice omg especially in this track :o

  • @elinmagg haha I went to add you as a friend but we're already friends - your picture is the hottest I've ever seen of David. Great find. :D

  • Hard to find lost friends and a joy when you meet again after a random turn

  • karellen is a beast!!!!!

  • probably one of the best pink floyd songs but there are too many of them to decide

  • This is a great antiwar song and relevant to modern America. The first verse is about PTSD. The second verse is about the romance of war fading and being replaced with longing those are who are told to "sail across the sea" (invade another country) develop for home. The third verse is about how the leaders and weapons are ultimately useless and that time - not war (which time turns to rust and dust) - is what heals all wounds.

  • @Nonlinear63043 Have you ever read the book Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke

  • @didledidle Yep! Got It on the shelf!

  • @didledidle Yes i have, wow! That is an awesome book!

  • Comment removed

  • Childhood's End, your fantasies merge with harsh realities. And then as the sail is hoist(ed) you find your eyes are growing moist, and though the fear is never voiced, soon you'll have to make the final choice.....brilliant.

  • @JonBenet6 yeah and what's even more brilliant is that David himself composed the lyrics... or so I've heard :)

  • I'm so glad dubstep is the new style of music. It makes me appreciate Floyd more then I already do.

  • @pardingo So true ..

  • 822 - 20 is a very lopsided ratio

  • obscured by clouds is an excellent album.. was before they was commercialised !!

  • 20 people realized they have to grow up one day.

  • 20 dislikes??????????wtf

  • Obscured by Clouds is Dark Side Of The Moon Part I.

And this song is Time Part I.

  • 20 people are fucking follower pussies and do not know the meaning of the word "music"

  • Great song, I need to listen to Obscured by Clouds more!

  • Fantastic fuckin tune!!!

  • great song great book

  • There'll be war they'll be peace, but everything one day will cease

All the iron turn to rust, all the proud men turn to dust...

    ---

Such a great lyric, so cosmic and so much what the Floyd was to me as a young

    lad.

  • @UnseenCaller

Right when this part came, as I was rythmically banging my head, I read your comment and the lyrics in perfect sycronization. Thank you.

  • obscured by clouds is really good!

  • Just the beating of your heart. Just one man beneath the sky just two ears just two eyes. Best lyrics ever!

  • @mcdonaldold1 you kind your eyes were growing moist! WoW! Dav! :)

  • @mcdonaldold1 I know he has the lyrics under the video but I think they sing "adjust" the beating of your heart, because you;ve just awakened with a start. Also, he writes "if once" put to the test and I think it is "it was" put to the test. oh well, my ears is gone now, all blkown out by those derned headphones in the '70's.

  • @JonBenet6: Meaningless nitpicking about lyrics -- the differences you claim don't meaningfully affect one's understanding of the song.

  • Great sound before DSOTM

  • Such an underrated album. Sandwiched between the influential Meddle and the masterpiece Dark Side of The Moon, this album is so overlooked, but a masterpiece in it's own right.

  • @skorziks i know! it's my favorite floyd album.

  • @skorziks Specially this song, I still love. But: Meddle is far better then Obscured By Clouds. My opinion. I don't know, but I heared this album just a few times completelly - and I am a great Pink Floyd Fan!!! I like more Atom Heart Mother or Meddle, of course also Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Animals. I never really like The Wall, because of the sound. There a great songs in it, but as an album I never like it. But: I never like it from a view as a fan. It is still great music.

  • @SoWirdGelogen I love Atom Heart Mother. I was playing it this afternoon(for probably 500th time). The eerie chanting section, Gilmour's awesome and passion guitar solo and the tribal section leading back into the main theme........I get a chill down my spine when I listen to it.

  • @skorziks Dont worry. Everybody that truly listens to the Floyd know of this album.

  • @EastMountain81 I am comforted by that knowledge. Now go and give Kevin Ayers' "Confessions of Dr. Dream (part 3@4)" a listen before you O.D. on Floyd.

  • @skorziks cleverly worded, little brains

  • @skorziks Agreed; one of the best parts about Floyd is that their music isn't inevitable: play this album for a listener that doesn't know their whole discography, and they peg this as pre-DSotM, maybe even pre-Meddle; this is a little bit of throwback sound compared to those highly technologically advanced albums. Which is exactly what's so cool about it. Paraphrasing Gilmore from the Pompeii shows: you need to be controlling the technology, it can't be controlling you.

  • @skorziks way to try hard in ur description....all u had to say was...."this song pwns.."

  • May the 20 who didn't like the track suffer a coma for a hundred years or so only to wake up in a gloomy London like city where they are the only living humans in this city (all humans had moved to another planet) , the problem is that all of these left out souls have lost their breeding organs and above all this track is played over and over again in the back of their lives ...

  • Has anyone noticed that this music isn't "lost"? I mean...here it is. Such talk doesn't make sense to me.

  • too bad this is the only good song on that album

  • @purplehaze216 wot's... uh the deal with you?

  • @populvuh02 Wow man, I honestly do not remember writing that. I love this album. And if I had to pick a 'best song' off of it, this would not be the one. I need to lay off some stuff...

  • @purplehaze216

    Rubbish.

    "Free Four" is a cracker!

  • @purplehaze216 Bullshit! Wots uh the deal is , the gold its in the.., and free four are all good songs.

  • @lapdism I know. It's a great album, I do not remember writing that comment and an apology is in order. Too much xanax maybe...

  • My favorite Floyd song.

  • i think this is one of the bests solos of david gilmour, and it is a great song!!!

  • Oh dear boy, where is this music lost? MY GENERATION SUCKS! :/

  • Comment removed

  • @mrranadeepghosh dont despair there is more out there TENBONES13

  • @TENBONES13 i wish

  • it's styyll exists man I'am a basement musican i play psycadelic fusion type music straight from the soul, I know there are people out there just like me the system and media wont Budge unless we all do sumthing about it we need a musical revolution more then ever

  • @mrranadeepghosh iv been sayin that ever since i was born.we need to start over lol

  • @mrranadeepghosh Are you kidding? thats what people were saying when PinkFloyd just released this album. Our genaration of music is the best yet. You just haven't heard it yet. you have to look. There are so many incredible bands out there right now. this is definiantly a generation of awesome music

  • @smeaglerG haha, name some, if you can.

  • @mrranadeepghosh Do Make Say Think, Radiohead, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Battles. It's out there man, you just gotta look for it. Mainstream music has sucked for every generation.

  • @purplehaze0120 fail.

  • @mrranadeepghosh still have a hope... BLACK KEYS

  • @mrranadeepghosh Fuck I know, it's so sad

  • @mrranadeepghosh you are right nowdays i have to listen old music because there are very few new good songs

  • @mrranadeepghosh same I agree, and Im 17

  • @mrranadeepghosh what are you talking about the song my generation is awesome.

nobody make music like that anymore.

  • @mrranadeepghosh

Greatest regret of my life.. to be born at a time when real music cease to exist.

  • @mrranadeepghosh derp derp

  • @mrranadeepghosh agreed

  • Damn that was a great song. David Gilmour is the greatest guitarist of all time, no one is on the same level. Even though pink floyd is my favorite all time band, i havnt really heard anything before darkside before this. Ive always just assumed i heard the essentials(darkside, animals, wish you were here, the wall, momentary..). but this is really good. I saw a special where they played this old video with this great song and they said then they were realy for darkside. anyone know what that is

  • @tonyss9 Yeah, the video was for Echoes, which is off the Meddle album. That was the Dark Side documentary you saw.

  • @collinschwartzesq wow, i thought it looked as if i was rambling on so i didnt think anyone would reply lol. Thank you kind sir. you are a great individual. they will write books about you someday.

  • 20 people are not fully satisfied by the content of this YouTube video...

Now pay attention to me, PLEASE! I NEED IT!

  • Great song Great solo!!!!

  • @PinkGilmourFloyd thankyou brother

  • kinda reminds me of Time in the begginning

  • 20 people are entitled to their opinion....no matter how wrong it is.

  • 20 people where made in the wrong life time!!! 20 people could go fuck off and die

  • quite possibly their best album.Every track scellent and they sound as if they were enjoying themselves.

  • I never liked this album and I think I've listened it only 2 times. But now I am listening it again it sounds a lot better to me.

  • ya know its just best music that can be made thats that !

  • 20 people better die, because their life is worthless!

  • What youtube should do is when someone dislieks a song it gives the account name and all their info. so we can find them. and break their bones xD nah jk

  • A small river..a large crane...we used to throw ourselves off it into the water. The sun was blazin, and this was playin!

    Best days of my life!

  • Musical Ecstacy

  • 20 people are about to come to their adulthood's end

  • first time hearing this song....my arms have goose bumps and my body is in a state of calmness

  • Let's get popcorn, relax and listen to this because you can not replace Pink Floyd!

  • @muddingwithjeeps haha i could not agree more wit u.

  • ok those 20 ppl who dont like this song, are you jus dickig around or are you seriously

  • I'm sorry, but who the fuck could dislike this!!???

  • Fave band, fave album by this band, fave song on this album... And now saved to favorites.

I try and try to get some people together and play this old gem. Surprising how ignorant even fans can be of the Floyd's work- like the time I went to an open jam and tried to bust into Young Lust- and nobody else knew how to play it. Most of these guys were professional musicians and Floyd fans... Sure, they could play Time or Comfortably Numb, but get two bars into Mother and they're lost. Pity.

  • @TheAtomicist42 Most people who say they're Floyd fans barely know the music. They should teach college courses on Floyd.

  • @AndyO1987 Agreed. I also think D20 character design should be available as a college course though. Hell if you could take Klingon.....

  • @AndyO1987 ya i consider myself a floyd expert, somewhat. instead of doing my real homework i end up looking up the history of pink floyd and all their music and etc. for some reason i just love reading and listening to their history. anyways i think their should be classes because if i go to college, i have no idea what id major in... if i could major in pink floyd then that be sweet lol. i taught my mom some lessons about them before i made her go to the RW the wall concert, she enjoyed it

  • Comment removed

  • this is the best Pink Floyd song ever who ever disliked this can go suck a big one

  • Don´t want to fall into the "Such underrrated whatever...." cliché, but it's true PF had it already here, as much as in Dark Side... The later maybe a tiny bit more catchy, but the success difference is hard to justify...

  • @BilisNegra These days the media decides what's gonna be a success. Wasn't around then, but did the media just latch onto DSTM more. I think they are so different as albums, but each as good in their own way.

  • @cockywatchman1976 That's true. Music has gone from being art to being a product just like anything else. It wouldn't surprise me if you within a few years were able to buy underwear lying on the same shelf as the latest Lady Gaga album

  • @cemalson - Actually...I think we'll start seeing Lady Gaga cds being sold alongside toilet paper. How is is that a talentless 20 something can re-invent the wheel of musical expression into crap? Lady Gaga most certainly isn't the first young female to come up with uinque ways of musical expression. Remember Nina Hagen anyone?

  • Best song on album, along with free four and gold-quality underated album.

  • I don't like a lot of their early work, but Obscured by Clouds is a great album. IMO, this is the second best song on the album. People never give Gilmour enough credit; I see there is no Floyd without Waters but not no Floyd without Gilmour.

  • @Polterguist haha who the fuck cares how old you are,?? shit i hate people that star their comments with their fuckin age.

  • @SHNBGB Tell me, where exactly did I post my age in my comment?

  • @Polterguist shit y meant to diss the comment below yours. youre alright, and yes, pobscured by clouds IS a great album. long live floyd!

  • @SHNBGB It's all good man. :)

  • I am 14 years old and I have all BEATLES albums. But when I was 12 and I heard this for the first time, I was so impressed. THIS IS REAL MUSIC.

In the next year I bought all PINK FLOYD albums. But this is my favorite one.

THANK YOU for sharing such beautiful music!

And all I can say to the 18 people who disliked this beautiful song is: FUCK YOU!

  • Love the lyrics! It's all about the inevitability of everything fading ... turning to rust..

"all things have an end" sings Gilmour.

Great song for those of us "non-believers" in an afterlife.

  • I've always thought this was one of Floyd's greatest tunes, though much overlooked.

Don't like the stuff they did after The Wall.

  • The album cover hurts my eyes lol. Awesome music, love PF

  • TIMELESS

  • Obscured By Clouds is Identical to the way Dark Side Of The Moon was put together as an album. Its just as good in my opinion. No doubt in my mind this track had a lot of influence on the song Time.

  • @Metalitron12

Man, I always thought that myself. To me, both albums have the same feel and same message to me. It's just more together in Dark Side of the Moon.

  • David Gilmour also on the drums on this track...

  • Comment removed

  • How can anyone hate on PF? Obscured By Clouds is a great album!

  • if you liked the song you should read the book

  • @thebobulator There's a book ?

  • this is probably my favorite song from pink floyd

  • The Russians was extremely desparate to get revenge on USA and its Western Allies for their defeat in Afghanistan and fall of soviet Union.. and they finally came up with the Filthiest, nastiest, fuckiest but a very destructive weapons "RAP" and "Hip Hop" They armed their Communist mujahideens with RAP and Hip hop weapons just like CIA armed Muslim mujahideens with RPG and AK47. They have successfully sabotaged and ravaged such magnificent and elegant Western music industry and history. Wake up

  • @PsychoScientist007is it time for yr medication now m8 rofl

  • fucking love the lyrics, fucking love pink floyd. lol

  • great track love this one
