I was curious about this vid so I got my buddy to try the same thing in his same gen TL auto. Asside from a catback (which I had too) the results were pretty similar. But having owned an auto in many pervious cars and seeing the difference between dyno, race and weight in all cases, I wasn't too surprised. Not that it matters, not many people who would buy an auto TL would ever do something like this.

k so title says tl auto and its not a type s, therefore the tl is 210 or 200 horses, the type s however has 285.

Lmao, ok I been seeing couple debates about the rims, I live in Ohio and work at GLA (great lakes assembly) been working there since 2005, we are a supplier for Honda that assembles the tire and wheel and balances the accord, acura tl, acura rdx, wheel assemblies on my line, those rims are stock came on the V6 models. Figure I help clear things up

anyone who plans on gettin a car should know, acura tl this generation and also accord v6 6 speed in this video are built on same chassis. Everything (parts) on the two vehicles will fit into eachother. get a 6 speed though in them though because its much more fun to drive. I regret getting a 6 speed!

these wheels are stock on the 2006-2007 accord 6 speed only. Yes they are just like the rims on the acura cl-s and tl-s but they are not exactly the same. I also own a 06 6speed and my old man drives a cl-s. so ive studied both and they are different looking up close indeed.

the TL-S wheels stay even thoughout the spoke. the wheels are also different widths you noob... do some homework..

you can see how the TL has more torque since its quicker off the line but the 6MT in the Accord just puts the power down much better than the 5AT

Well yeah the 07-08 type S has the 3.5L V6 with 286 hp/256 lb ft, while the Accord has 244 hp/211 lb ft. I'm not soo sure about the Accord have more aggressive cams... I would think Honda would give that to the Type S since well its the high performance version of the TL... lol

BTW I like the G35, i just wish its V6 wasn't soo rough sounding at high revs, if it was as smooth as a BMW I-6 or Honda J series it'd be top of the class.

Accord curb weight is 3109 lbs. and TL curb weight is 3498 lbs. (TL is 389 lbs. heavier!!) That's why the TL was left behind.

A TL-S would have smoked the accord no matter auto or manual.

An Accord doesn't have the J32 that was for this generation TL. All V6 Accords until 08 had the J30, 08's and up have the J35

No seriously the TL would have left the accord top end! I have both my 03 accord 6mt is governed at 135 and my 05 TL 6mt at 155! So EVENTUALLY he would have got ya! Although no matter who is driving them my accord doesnt walk away from my TL from a roll the TL is SLIGHTLY faster pulling almost completely out in front by 100mph or so. Never ran them from a dead stop wife wont do it nor will she let me in her TL.

ive got a 2007 2.4l that beat a g37. but i have alot of mods, t3/t4 turbo kit, brian crower stage 3 cams, skunk2 cam gears, ralco rz pulleys, brian crower stainless valves/titanium retainers/spring base/and springs, bdl fuel rail, skunk2 k-series intake manifold&70mm throttle body, bosch 650cc fuel injectors, aem ecu piggyback, greddy evo 2 exhaust, and ACL race piston bearings. its amazing how well the vtec engine can handle the mods

@XxFoxDiexX no, just really got into building it up, its really hard to find parts, but most of the tsx parts are interchangable, you can also go with the rbc manifold which ive switched to along with the civic si throttle body and went with smaller injectors, was getting too much fuel. if you are going with a turbo build def. go with a name brand turbo. i had a no name one and its already gone out. garrett or turbonetics is the way to go.

@azngqjai Yeah, the TL has 268-270HP vs. the Accord's 244 HP; but since the Accord is 6MT, he can get the the more aggressive shifts, and pull into the lead. After that, he can hold the lead as long as he doesn't mess up.

Notice that the TL got out first, which means that the Accord driver didn't really launch that hard, but instead when with nice smooth shifts.

@HalfBreedMix I don't think there's much of a difference in shift times between the two. Autos shift fairly quick these days. I'd guess 200-300ms for both transmissions.

The main difference is the power to weight ratio. With the revised SAE net power ratings, these TLs were rated at 258hp. The Accord was rated at 244hp after the change. Considering the difference in drivetrain loss, they're both putting down around the same amount of power to the wheels and the Accord weighs much less.

@Vincenzo51985 Actually there's still a big difference, at least when comparing the same generation Hondas. You have to remember Honda is aiming the Accords at the average consumer, not the performance crowd. So longevity and smoothness are more important than performance for their autos. The 06-07 Accord V6 autos were rated high 6s to low 7s in 0-60, where the 6MT Accords were high 5s. Launching the 6MT versions is critical and very hard to do without wheel spin.

thats wrong man. The Accord 6MT vs TL 6MT is a drivers race. They both run the same times. Same goes for Auto Accord V6 vs auto TL. Put a 6MT against a Auto like this one and the TL has no chance from a stop or a roll.

why? he's driving an auto, he just has to press on the gas and go, The tl did what it can do. Not only is the accord faster, but it still won on a really shitty launch. Don't under estimate an accord 6 speed, 0-60 5.8 sec, 1/4 mile 14.4 stock

not at all. The accord should have won and did. The TL 6MT is a great drivers race since both run the same times! The auto TL is a low 15 second vehicle on average.

Yes I should've. I forgot to turn traction control off though and the way Honda traction control works is that it cuts the fuel to the engine (if I remember correctly) causing your car to bog, cutting the speed the tires should be spinning to get a good launch.
