@five65seven if it was because of bad strings, the problem would've been solved by putting a new set of strings on. This was a problem with several guitars, and I had put a few new sets of strings on mine as well. Definitely a construction flaw.
@naturalGTR Can you use for example only neck probucker or only bridge probucker ( I don't know much about les paul guitars but I'm planning to buy one)
I also have the Buzz on the 6th and 5th string. You get used to it, and it doesn't seem to be aproblem when it's plugged in. I think they need to figure out why it happens, and fix it. Like you said though, you get used to it. Could it be because of the chambered body?
@SpookeyEyeGhost not sure if you got my other reply, but in answer to your question about the buzz being because of the chambered body, I don't think so, just because there are several other guitars with chambered bodies that it doesn't happen to. One idea that one of the guitar techs proposed is that the nano mag is acting like an ebow and causing the strings to feed back.
Nice job. It does seem theses are hard to find. Too bad, i have an Ultra 2 and love it!! Great job showing the versatility of these bad boys. These are really sweet guitars, especially for the price. I use an Carvin X100B halfstack for the HB"S, and an fishman loudbox mini for the Nano-Mag. People don't seem to realize how great the acoustic tone is when ran through an acoustic amp or PA. Cheers and Happy holidays.
Thanks for the review.. I just picked up the faded cherry one... I love it... I still need to try the nano mag through the Bose PA we use for worship .. Hope that all goes well..
A question I have is what was your rig like during your performance when you had to switch back and forth from electric to nano mag?
@AshBrookeMusic72 I was playing the humbuckers through a Blackstar HT Dual pedal and then into a 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue, and the nano mag was going into a Marshall AS50R acoustic guitar amp.
The full version of Guitar Rig is indeed NOT freeware, but that's not what you get with this guitar. You get the LE - or Limited Edition - version, which is free.
As we know, guitar Rig is not a freeware, so as I heard that buying this guitar will give you the authority of downloading Guitar Rig free from epiphone(Dot)com. I really WANT that program but how can I believe that it is true that I can download it free if I buy this guitar?
I also have a Fender stratocaster, and I love it. Obviously, you will get completely different sounds from each, so play 'em both in a store and see which one "speaks" to you more. I am a real audiophile, so I'm SUPER sensitive to ANY kind of noise that a guitar makes. You can't really hear the buzz through the amp, and you certainly can't hear it if you're playing with crunch. I wouldn't worry too much about the buzz, but for your first guitar...I think it might be a bit much to spend.
@Neithys Yeah that buzz issue may be killing my decision to get this. I'm looking for a guitar with passive humbuckers to compliment my Schecter laden with active EMGs .. I'm strictly a studio musician ... and I don't need buzz.
Maybe the buzz is because of bad strings???

Hi,
First of all big thanks, for this review.
I'm new to the world of music and I was considering buying this one as my first guitar.
But that buzz thingy is really creeping me out, (I've also read about it on forums)
Do you think it would still be a good guitar for a total beginner ? Or is it a big issue ?
I keep going back and forth between a Fender Standard Start and this Epiphone, I really like the acoustic/electric sound of the Ultra 3 T_T
