  • I was never a fan of "Southern Wrestling" but hey there were some great guys from Florida-esp. the Briscos and Texas esp. the Funks.

  • what the hell is lance russell doing in smokey mountain? hes suppose to be in memphis...thats bullshit

  • anybody that thinks this is real needs help

  • Fuck me! I didnt know Lance Russell use to announce for Smokey Mountain!

  • Update for Ricky Morton's mullet nickname selection

    9.) Camaro Crash Helmet

    10.) The 1090 (10% on top, 90% out back)

    11.) The Mason-Dixon Hairline

  • @XxLiveBaitxX what about "The Calm Before The Storm"?

  • @bigdaddyreynolds I Like It!!! But what exactly would be the storm? An insane mop of hair?

  • Old School 80's and 90's wrestling outshines the product today!!!!

    Esp...VKM's company!!!!

  • @66yankeefan yeah cuz they put a lot of heart and soul in their performances in and out of the ring.

  • Damn double A could cut a promo.

  • Please select the best nickname for Ricky Morton's mullet:

    1.) The Louisiana Purchase

    2.) The Missouri Compromise

    3.) The 7

    4.) The Mississippi Mudflap

    5.) The Kentucky Waterfall

    6.) The LPGA

    7.) The Tennessee Top Hat

    8.) The Canadian Passport

  • @XxLiveBaitxX Well he's from Tennessee, so I'm gonna go with no. 7.

  • @theDyingWhale Good choice, I almost forgot the Mason-Dixon hairline.

  • @XxLiveBaitxX no.7 is perfect fit lol ..but ricky was a badass and almost had title against flair

  • classic shyt!!

  • Arn Anderson is one bad motherfucker. He would stomp anybody's ass and then drive a car behind them at 3 MPH just to make sure that they walked all the way home knowing that they got their ass kicked.

  • @Northwro yeah he is hope he's in the hall this year

  • @Northwro a fn men..aa the greatest..1flair 2aa 3hbk 4sting 5steamboat 6macho 7jericho 8angle 9taker 10hhh

  • @Northwro tell it brother tell it!!!

  • Awesome. Professional wrestling...THE OLD SCHOOL WAY!!!!!

  • Lance Russel was the Shit!!!

  • I miss Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

  • get the fuck back to memphis lance russell

  • haha i bet ricky morton knows all about DUI's

  • dutch mantel looked like a complete bad ass back then. His run for gold came too late in his career though. Had he been given a shot earlier in the awa or wwf back then he could of been a bigger star.

  • Those guys with dumbbells should be a crime! Not sure if they look more stupid using them or sound more stupid spitting out their promo. Anyway Jim Cornette knows how to run a territory!

  • This totally makes me miss good old-school wrestling.

  • Four years ago I saw Ricky Morton at a VERY SMALL local show at a flea mkt in Knoxville. He was wearing the SAME tights he was wearing in 1990......I mean the same pair and he was selling autographs for $10. He was looking rough. Too bad all that money he made in the 80's was invested in a party lifestyle instead of the future. He was awesome in his day, now he's a washed up has-been. Too bad and very sad.

  • The 4 Horseman! Arn Anderson and the boys were the SHIT! I love indie wrestling. You don't see today's wrestlers cut promos like they did back in the days.

  • Look up a bull's butt and tell you the price of butter....

  • Arn Anderson is amazing

  • Smokey Mountain was pretty good, it's a shame what killed it was not getting a national television deal.

  • I would suggest re-titling this "Smokey Mountain Wrestling Interview".

  • Funny this interview is in alot of dvd shown to rookie wrestlers on how to do a great old school 5 star promo.

  • wow i read the rock and roll express was corny from y2j's book but this is just pathetic and they were the top of the SMW come on

  • @TheHardyzfan87 Which is awfully ironic considering that the reason Jericho didn't get over in Smoky Mountain was because fans thought he and Storm were an RNR rip off...

I should also point out that the reason RNR were on top in SMW were because they were still a great tag team even into the 90s and they worked hard to stay over in the area. Cornette didn't hand anything to them, they earned it even then.

  • I watched every tv show SMW did and went to many house shows. There problem was they were awful on the mic.

  • Never knew Col. Parker was a wrestler. Still, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson made this listenable.

  • You sound like some young 23 year old DA who thinks wrestling started with the NWO. You have know clue what a great promo is.

  • I am 23 years old and I know wrestling started before the NWO. It's just where I lived, Smokey Mountain Wrestling wasn't televised. When I saw Col. Parker, he was a manager in WCW.

  • Nobody in the wrestling business can cut a promo quite like Arn Anderson. He's one of those guys that when he talks you just gotta listen.

  • Jim Cornette is a genius and should be running a major promotion today.

  • I agree Cornette is a mastermind. If TNA would have put him in control and got rid of Russo, they would have taken off.

  • Dropdeadricky is correct. Vince Russo is holding TNA back. Although Bound For Glory was pretty freakin good. CORNETTE-GENIUS RUSSO-TRASH

  • pritchard is so pathethic

has to be to copy roddy pippers voice

  • That IS Tom Prichards voice. You wanna hear someone who sounds so like Piper its creepy, you should listen to Matt Borne.

  • Morton looks like a fucking bird.

  • too bad this didnt last longer....this was probably the closest wrestling had to the good ol territory days...

  • you just witnessed 10 of the best wrestlers of that era. if you were lucky enough to c this match i bet it was a damn wild and crazy match. gotta love the old stuff. All hail memphis and smokey mt. wrestling.

  • The entire show was great. This match and the chain match with Tracy SMoothers and Dirty White Boy were great.

  • This match was a great wild bloody brawl.

  • Amen marathon. Southern wrestling is light years ahead of anything else.

  • Gotta give it to Jim Cornette he knew how to make a match seem expecting he hyped this match very well and gave the other guys their do

    Territory wrestling is the best

  • I love Arn Anderson

  • Oh Dr. Tom, I thought he'd be the next Roddy Piper, he was really really amazing back then. Not just in the ring, but his promos were fantastic.

  • I did not know that jiggalo jimmy del ray was not in the SMW heavenly bodies

  • He was about a year later.

  • Hey Arn.....With all due respect to you as The Enforcer, I thought your man Flair was "The Dirtiest Player In The Game"...

    Stop biting....

  • Fear the Mullett

  • Les Thatcher sucks. Lance Russell is the man

  • Could they have maybe waited til after the promo and match to get drunk?

  • This is considered one of the great heel interviews ever.

  • why would Dutch Mantell be in a newspaper office??

  • He was a sports writer for the dallas morning news covering college football.

  • I felt that Dutch was great with all the crazy stuff he said :-D

  • that has got to be the worse annoncer ever he is too big hes in the way of the wrestlers and he has the looks of a pile of dogshit

  • damn ricky morton is one ugly mofo

  • hey u dont know shit about ricky morton i know him really well if u have a problem with this reply and for ur info ricky morton is not a mofo

  • you're rigth, I don't know squat about morton, all I know is that he is one ugly mofo

  • congrats on admitting to being a dumbass.

  • thanks man, cheers

  • Some of the single greatest tag teams and tag team wrestlers to ever be in a match. If we could have fit The Fantastics and their partner Steve Keirn or Tommy Rich in there. It wouldve been near perfect. haha

  • I didn't know Philip Seymour Hoffman was an interviewer for SMW .

  • Did Jim own SMW?

  • yea he did stan lane had part ownership as well

  • @LeonMeekis84 Yup and Rick Rubin of Def Jam records was his money man.

  • "Tell 'em Ricko." Classic. I saw this fued on a tape in the mid 90s and I marked out big time. Seeing Ricky, Robert and Arn together was pretty sureal. During one interview all three of them threw up the four fingers. I felt like David Crocket watching Morton getting even with Jim Cornette - "WHIP HIM LIKE A DOG!"

  • HA! 1:00 makes every Kentuckian proud (sarcasm)

    haha (I'm from KY)

  • this was real wrestling i remember i was like 5 yr old waking up going to the living room getting heat from a kerosine heater tuning in for the smokey mountain wrestling every saturday morning on channel 7

  • Interesting fact: Jimmy Golden is the uncle of Katie Holmes

  • AA could cut the best damn promos, bar none

  • i met rick and rob a few years back when i worked an indy show in seattle, they love to big themselves up to the point of boring you to tears.

  • watched this every moring on channel 27 wkyt...kick ass

  • i love arn anderson especially his comment about the life you save may be your own. AA one of the few left handed wrestlers ever him and the patriot pretty much in teh time i've watched post 1990.

  • 4:16: AA abouts loses it when Morton makes the bull's butt comment. Watch as he bites his lower lip to keep from laughing!

  • chris jericho wrestled there

  • yes he did ...DID ypou read his .book...some fucking crazy ass shit

  • ya it was funny as hell

  • they have the video on line wher JIM corenete is going crazy at DAIRY QUEEN

  • So....Who won the match btw?

  • The heavenly bodies in a great match.

  • I used to love seeing Double-A do a promo.

"The life you save may be your own". Classic.

  • Tom Prichard was one of THE best talkers in wrestling...He reminded me of Roddy Piper alot...And he was the Rock of the Continental Wrestling Federation...and the Bullet was the HUlk Hogan.

  • I may be from Ohio, but old school "Southern Style" wrestling is 10000 times better than "Sports Entertainment." A pox on thee, Vince!!!

  • @jrewell816 You know, I've been getting into the more southern style, or "rasslin" because they treat it like a sport. Stories are more involved. Fans get sucked in. It's basic stuff that works everytime and gets the crowd psyched. I hope someone finds a way to do it mainstream.

  • Arn was an awesome talker. Amazing that the greatest talkers were guys who didn't have writers tell them what to say (i.e., The Rock, HHH, et al).

  • arn anderson was always very very good on the mic - one of the most underrated talkers and wrestlers at the same time !!!!!

  • LoL. If Robert Gibson and Bobby Eaton ever formed a tag team, it would be the quietest team ever. During interviews, they'd just stare into the camera and nod. And smile every once in a while.

  • I don't know I feel kina good when I don't wear underwear

  • arn anderson probably one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time. Always liked him cause like me he's a southpaw. Alwasy a good interview also.

  • That's how you cut a promo. Arn is amazing.

  • I was at this show. SMW used to have a big show at Pikeville every year and I never missed them. Right after SMW folded I quit watching wrestling.

  • Ho wmuch heat did the heavenly bodies get at this show.

  • Quite a bit if I remember correctly. I was 9 when the show happened, but I do remember the audience throwing garbage and ice during that match. The loudest pop I ever heard at a Smoky Mountain show was in 1995 when Paul Bearer and the Undertaker were both in Pikeville for Bluegrass Brawl 3.

  • Classic. Insult the town in which you'll be wrestling that night. This is so much better than WWE.

  • Ha-ha. . .Pikeville, Ky. . .my hometown!

  • yeah. man

  • Arn was an amazing talker, but I think Jake Roberts was even better and maybe the best that wrestling has ever seen. I remember being absolutely fucking terrified of that guy when I was kid. He was like the Hannibal Lecter of wrestling; so damn creepy and cryptic but still kinda likable in a weird way.

  • Arn was better in the ring than Jake period.

  • Well, yeah. Jake was a better talker (IMO), but he couldn't hold a candle to Arn when it came to in-ring work. In his prime, Jake was a decent wrestler, but Arn will always be considered one of the best.

  • I think they both were great on the mic. Jake was so dang morbid, but scary at the same time. Arn was more matter of fact. They both were good.

  • tom pritchard looks like a woman....

  • SMW kicked ass!!

  • Look up a bulls butt and tell you the price of butter--ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!!!

  • WHAT YEAR WAS THIS

  • It's in the description. It's from 1993.

  • Wow Les Thatcher is awful as a commentator. He just keeps saying "Of Course." Can't believe this crap made air

  • Anyone know who won the match? Great promos!

  • The heavenly bodies won with Bobby Eaton. Beating the RR EX to win the match. It was one the greatest old shows ever.

  • i cant stop watching it

  • Pure genius . . . .when you get that DUI

  • Arn anderson is just a weak jj dillon clone.Ha

  • Stay off and don't post and you will not look like an idiot.

  • I love Arn Anderson promos. Poetry they are.

  • i remember the smoky mtn vs uswa fued ....tracy smothers cut some great promos

  • I remember all of them. I always loved how wrestlers back then had a gimmick. unlike now where most of them just go by their "real" names. So boring. I want a character. Not a regular ass who wants a title shot.

  • Arn was one of the best on the mic. Bar none.

  • You are right The Rock outdrew Arn. But you must admit he was in the right place at the right time. I like the Rock by the way. But I still think Arn is better when it comes to pure wrestling.

  • The rock is not on Arn's level in any part of the business.

  • How about drawing money? I'd have thought that would be the most important part!

  • Smoky Mountain from early 1992 for about 2 1/2 years was great. From November 1992 to late 1993 was the high point. Too bad the glamour of WCW and WWF killed off wrestling like this.

  • I remember first seeing Smokey Mountain wrestling near the end of the promotion. I first saw it in the summer of 1996 and I quite enjoyed it. Kane wrestled there as Unibomb and teamed up with Al Snow and they were tag team champions.

  • This is old school wrestling at its best. This was a great match. Also on this card was the dirty white boy vs Tracy Smothers both were awesome matches.

  • Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden before they were Col. Rob Parker and Bunkhouse Buck.

  • Awesome, great old school promos.

  • I didn't know Joe Dirt used to be a wrestler.

  • LMAO!

  • Let me introduce you to ShoeBaby. She can stop a 1200lb. Bull and I'm pretty sure she can stop 6 other wrestlers. A great interview!

  • Yeah, because it's scripted and they have catch phrases to save them.

    Arn had neither.

  • Rock and (especially) HBK aren't fit to lace AA's boots. It's a shame that younger generations have no clue about the history of it all. They see the crap McMahon feeds everyone and take it as gospel. Shame indeed.

  • Amen. The Rock's promos were almost the same every time. HBK's promos? I can't think of any line he's said that's been all that memorable other than the repeated ad nauseum DX catch phrases. Yet, I can still remember the first interview I saw of Arn Anderson, when he stared at the camera and to emphasize how serious he was said "Look close, this ain't a toothpaste commercial." Sounds kind of dumb, but the way he delivered it made it awesome.

  • Troll.

  • arn anderson has got to be one of if not THE top promo cutting genius in the history of the game! doesnt even have to raise his voice, similar to jake roberts

  • You got that right, you can feel that he means what he says, and he don't even have to raise his voice.

  • What a crazy eyeball gibson has..

  • lmao !!! so true

  • Holy Shit Les Thatcher

  • That video should be used as a training manual to show young wrestlers how to successfully do promos. You had some of the best talkers in the business in that video: Arn Anderson, Ricky Morton, Stan Lane, Dr. Tom Pritchard, Robert Fuller and Jim Cornette (who ran SMW) at that time. Old school promos at their finest!

  • I was at that show, it was outstanding!

  • wow that was Cornal Robert Parker aka Tenesie Lee.

that was cool please post some more cool moments from Smokey Mountain Wrestling. I never got to see it I just head about them In Pro Wrestling Iliatrated. They made an aparence on wcw and WWF tv in the early 90's. you should do a hilight real.
