dima's looping, has more hitting than spinning, thats why he had trouble with joo. his most threatening weapon is his close table backhand reaction time loop. but since he hits more than he spins it. he has less control.
ZJK got warmed up late but he had the upper hand the whole match for qualifying group. WangHao was too cocky tat he underestimated Dima last match.
congratz dima for having the confidence boost haha and improvement of coz thanks forr sharing
Wang Hao figured it out way earlier than Zhang Jike. Penhold's short game is the difference. Ovtcharov forced to play passively as he was pretty much controlled by Wang Hao's short pushes. It's always Ovtcharov pushing it high or long for Wang Hao to attack. Then it became "one of those games".
@MrLegendman13 eh, ma lin and wang hao, all look really stocky, in wang hao's case, it doesn't hurt his speed or reaction rate, in fact it probably gives him a lot more power, his shots have one of the best combinations of spin and power of any player.
@MrLegendman13 for some reason quite a few top Chinese penholders are on the heavier side, like even in his prime Liu GouLiang looks chubbier than Kong LiHui. Ma Lin and Wang Hao looks chubbier than Wang LiQin. Finally, even Xu Xin is said to be on the heavier side (remember during a new report he was complaining /joking that his coach wants another 10-15 pounds off him). On the other hand top Chinese shakehanders are mostly skinny :P say Ma Long, Zhang Jike... Was always wondering why?

that is one unlucky match for Dima, so many net balls and edge balls against him...
Opalance 3 months ago
dima played good in the first set, but then the chinese psychological advantage prevailed once again.
dima is currently good enough to beat wang hao but the chinese aura of invincibility is hard to ignore in important matches.
