  • 1-16-2012. Happy Birthday, A.J.

  • a.j. you are the greatest but its not to late to start taking care of your body GO-VEGEN GENESIS1:29

  • Everyone knows Foyt is an asshole. I saw him in a midget at Terre Haute in 1962, he treated his dad like dirt and my dad took me away from him as he has a filty mouth.

  • @VanHoorelbeke

    seriously?!

  • Foyt is now the earliest living Indy 500 winner. How fitting? He is now the driver of the Pace car (2011).

  • 6:04 Two legends? AJ and Tom Carnegie?

  • Comment removed

  • The only reason AJ Foyt didn't win Indy *more* than 4 times was due to his giant brass balls slowing him down.

  • I'm glad I lived in the AJ Foyt era.

  • you i swear to the life of my soul.... my dad bought AJ Foyts jet! its a hawker and Foyt has had the plane for 10 YEARS OH! AND FOYTS PILOT ROBERT(HIS NAME) HE FLEW ME AND MY DAD TOO I SWEAR YOU HAVE TOO BELIEVE ME!!!!

  • Never got the honor of watching AJ race. Would have enjoyed watching him. One of the best race car drivers EVER. The man could win in anything, and did it his way to boot.

  • Hes one of the biggest assholes of alltime. I remember in Terre Haute, he treated his dad like shit at a sprint car race, I will never forget it.

  • @VanHoorelbeke The real AJ Foyt! You know. You people are lucky you don't really know AJ, you would bash him beyond belief.

  • 1-16-2010. Sakes alive, sakes alive, look who's 65. Happy Birthday to one of the greatest drivers of all time. A.J., as a NASCAR fan, I remember your exploits at Daytona, especially February 1976. You put the France's in their place. I know that you are still kicking yorself over 1979 when you slowed down and Richard Petty won, but it was over-shadowed by Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough afterwards. Many happy returns.

  • A J FOYT.......greatest driver of all time

  • By far, I would say that Foyt was tough as nails.

  • AJ the Great

  • One of the few better Sam Posey pieces.

I did a 3rd grade class speech on AJ. Just before my turn, I realized the index cards we were to use for notes were nowhere to be found! Oh NO! So I folded a piece of paper up and would look at it from time to time during my speech. The teacher and students weren't aware that I needed no help with a report on AJ Foyt. The teacher even told the kids when I finished THAT is what she meant by a good report! It was just my love for AJ, at 8 years old.

  • kjsh98, you are damned right!!

  • mnoggoh a meck!

  • i´m sorry but for me the best driver was Fangio. He was even a great driver in dirt when he racing on the 40´s.he won 24 races with cars that allways were much dangerous than the indy cars.he won five championships in the 51,54,55,56, and 57 with alfa romeo, mercedes benz , ferrari and maserati. All of you got to learn from this men too

  • "In those days, A.J. would drive ANYTHING...and he won more races in different kinds of cars than anyone ever had. The fans loved him; he was...what racing was all about: the danger, the speed, the glory."

In this current era, with it's exclusitivity contracts...I'm not sure he's 'possible'. Tony Stewart might drive in multiple series...but no matter what he was in...open-wheel, stock cars, sports cars, anything else...he was a threat to win.

The Glory, indeed. Here's to you, A.J.

  • I find it interesting that AJ's IRL career as an owner mimics his time as a driver. His team was one of the best in the early IRL years (i.e. the Kenny Braack and Billy Boat years), but over time the Penske's, Ganassi's and AGR have pushed him to the back of the grid. Hopefully, he can get his team back to the front of the pack!

  • I guess that his qualifying run was the happy end of that story. AJ really was the best amongst all drivers who ever came to indy

  • This was done for 1991, the year where he started on the center of the front row. During his stunning qualifying run, a fan was in the stands and had a sign that said it best, "A.J. HAS A BETTER IDEA." And he usually does.

  • The comeback after 1990 was well documented in this clip.

  • AJ is the best Indycar driver ever he's my insperation and I'm 10 and I know a lot about him

  • I am 11 and race sprint karts - do you race?

  • i race quarter midgets and my brother AJ is getting a micro to race

  • AJ Foyt Jr - the greatest ever ChampCar driver. 67 wins, 7 championships, 4 Indy's, Lemans, Daytona 500..... Nobody comes even close.

  • SUPER TEX is my HERO!

  • thanks for posting! what a great clip!
