  • That is one of those moments the little persons on that hill will never forget :-)

  • Goosebumps achieved. Tally Ho!!

  • He tipped his wing to say hello :)

  • I'm told they had a fly past at the end of WW 2, [probably over London] and I don't have this confirmed but was told there was not one Hurricane represented.

  • That plane looks JUST like a toy plane I bought the other day! Except you know, bigger...

  • What an awesome experience! I am jeolous.

  • tank buster model too

  • @randytosh

I don't have any figures but it is highly likely that hurricanes account for more 'kills' than spitfires. There is a simple reason for this. Although the Spitfire was the superior aircraft, far more hurricanes were built than spitfires. Also, hurricanes were easier to maintain and keep in flying condition.

  • even rocks its wings in salute haha

  • This people, is why we live in a free society, believe me it was hard fought by our forefathers. Never forget that...

  • Helluva WW2 fighter! Can't even tell how much I like the sound of those! Too bad we don't have such shows in Russia :(

  • YEAHHHH!!!!

  • Does not get much better than that!

  • Someone should take a Stuka and do "the drop" to scare the shit out of people :D

  • Thats a lovely mustang.

  • @IIFeelGoodII

    I hope that's a joke :)

  • @IIFeelGoodII Hurricane

  • tak a tak a tak a tak a tak

  • question to some body smarter than me,i was taught that the hurricane had more kills than the spitfire some thing like 65%, does any professional person know the true stats

  • You would shit your pants if you were German and in the 40's

  • I was preparing myself mentally for the straffing run that never occured.

  • Excellent!

  • Love how the pilot dips his wing as he flies over. "Hello."

  • Gotta Love a Hawker, I work on the 748, and its a tank i bet this Hurricane could take a beating and still fly home.

  • @andrewmunro44 Yeah, the centre section looks like a madman at a high pressure gas piping factory designed it.

  • They don't make them like this anymore

  • your not human to dislike the hurrican

  • Wow even the pilot waved back!

  • As of 03/01/2012 there is 207 like's and only 1 dislike. Who? Who on earth could dislike this short and awesome vid? Oh, maybe it's the little girl in the pink jacket, hiding behind her dad, lol.

  • @jimbobbulu When children cry and crows fly, you know its going to be a really good low flypast LOL.

  • @jimbobbulu or it could be ze Germans?

  • Planes*

  • Even though they are slower plane's than today, they sure fly way more beautifully.

  • I was at Beachy Head this year. The weather put a stop towards the end of the day, but a hurricane and spitfire did a low fly over just as I got out of the car. Fan flipping tastic it was. Thanks to those pilots .

  • favorited.

  • Hurricane IIc PZ865 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This is Beachy Head I do believe?

  • Just watched it 3 times. Wonderful aircraft, which we should all appreciate in the UK.

  • Stirring video, plus the pilot gives the people a 'wave'

  • Was part fo the Somersham Hurri restoration team for a short while, when I was working at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. It's great to know that these flying legends will be around for our children's children : )

  • Pause @ 00:15 - Is it me or is that Hurricane still packing heat?

  • The Hurricane. The forgotten hero :-(

  • I have dislike , problem ?

  • i was half expecting "dacka dacka dacka dacka" as the .303's opened up.

  • @TheYoungster17 No .303s on that baby, 4x20mm Cannons instead

  • Also a "Lump in the pants" moment for the opposition.

  • Where was this at??? Its beautiful!!!

  • What a great sound. Must have scared the crap out of a few Luftwaffe pilots. It's like a big, growling dog.

  • 22 seconds of a lump in the throat..... if it wasnt for the waving people, and the wing waggle...this would be very 'ordinary'...but instead...it's priceless!

  • I had a moment like this at an airshow in Bakersfield,CA. A P-51 went down the runway on a very low pass and I got goosebumps listening to that Merlin roar.

  • I came a little

  • they should get a f-22 to do a low flypast at supersonic speeds!

  • Hawker Uglycane ^^ XD

  • Just beautiful !!!

  • @jayci68 Yes it is beautiful, works of winged wonder.

  • Good bit of filming too ....... !

(Actually, whisper it, air displays can be a bit boring ........ but this is a very nice piece of action, by contrast)

  • good no dislikes just onemore like ^-^

  • Merlin rulez!

  • About 20 years ago I was walking on a clifftop near Cardiff when a Spitfire and Hurricane flew past at clifftop height. Absolutely magical. I recognised the Spitfires anhedral as they approached, and just stood there open mouthed as they passed. A perfect moment. And one of the pilots looked across and grinned!

  • @AlfredTupper I think when a Spitfire & Hurricane appear unexpectedly, its always a extra special moment.

  • @Wonkabar007 unless your a german

  • @Wonkabar007 Indeed you could delete the word 'unexpectedly' from that sentence and it would still be true!

  • @AlfredTupper If that Spitfire had anhedral then I hope it was soon back in the repair shop!

  • @AlfredTupper two of the most gorgeous flying machines ever built

  • @AlfredTupper I'm getting goosebumps just reading about it!

  • @AlfredTupper I know the feeling. I was at a motorcross track in the north of england when a lancaster bomber fly low over head escorted by the hurricane and spitfire when they were heading home after a local airshow. Epic moment in my life. Luck comes in threes.

  • @AlfredTupper You really are a lucky person! Those are the kind of moments better to live and tell, than recording a video. Nothing is like living those magic moments :-D

  • He waved back! :D

  • tuca999 sorry there should have been a 109 in front...............

  • Somehow this video is so emotional - it's like the modern generation acknowledging and saluting the debt that it owes to the past generation.

  • @RobCTrebor the only trouble with that is they'd probably have waved just as enthusiastically for a piper cub as well

  • Too Cool

  • Magic!

  • Anyone notice the little girl in the pink coat go to hide behind the adult as the Hurricane approaches? Lovely!

  • @MultiLoafer When the crows fly away, and kids start crying, you know its going to be a great flypast LOL.

  • @Wonkabar007 You know it's a good pass when they don't have time

  • Contrary to my youtube name, I was born a Brit, a Brit that had the luck to have a Father in the R.A.F. back in the late 60's. Luckily, R.A.F. Bovingdon was chosen as one of the filming locations for the movie, "Battle of Britain".

The sight and sounds of Spitfires and the occasional Heinkel He 111 overhead (trailing fake smoke) while I was in school is an experience that I'll never forget. Thanks for reminding me of that experience. Cheers.

  • very awesome....

  • ..to make this scenery realistic, there should be a 109 behind.....

  • @tuca999 Nope...to be realistic, the 109 should be in FRONT of that Hurricane :-]

  • Oh gods that's awesome, the sound is the best

  • Splendid is a fitting word in the title. I´ll have another cub of tea with my biscuit :)

  • just imagine being in a war WWII and having these shooting guns at you one after another....

  • One of those came over me in Hull today, commemorating 70 years of the Hull blitz, I love the engine noise

  • Mark IIC....lovely bird!

  • Wonderful.... If only the shot had lasted a little longer until the Hurri' was out of sight and sound.

  • This is that pilot that was late for the Battle of Britain

  • love the sound of the Hurricane , that's what you call a goosebump fly-past.

    feel it in the bones

  • @planecrazynl Yes its great when pilots do special flypasts for aircraft fans.

  • Class act by the pilot ...Nice wing wave ....

  • @johncolinmclay2 It was a cold grey day, I think the pilot saw the folks on the hill and decided to give them a special low flypast, a big thanks to him.

  • "White Cliffs Of Dover"; Long live the Britain!! - from Taiwan

  • Brings a lump to the throat!...Wonderful Sound..Iconic Aeroplane!

  • he dips his wings for them now thats a good man a wave back, some pilots dont its always good to see those that do

  • Probably the best man made noise ever. The Merlin

  • True Brit.

  • My daughter is only 1 and half yrs old and she really loves this clip. She sits in front of the computer and waves at the plane as it approaches, then makes an engine noise when it flies by. I'm so proud of her. She's a plane girl.

  • @Stevie0408 That would make a fun YouTube video for sure.

  • @Stevie0408 The most heartening comment I've yet seen on youtube. I hope there are wonderful air- and spacecraft for her when she's grown.

  • Let me say that this is so English! ;) you've been really lucky! Nice vid!

  • Fabulous! Thanks for pulling this clip from Pure Merlin Engine Sounds! This is the best part! Hope to be there to see and hear something like that someday! 5 stars!

  • Marvellous.

  • The wing waggle in response to the people waving was pretty awesome. Great vid, thanks for posting.

  • jealous!

  • Great vid!

  • Ok.. so now I am green.. Lucky them.. lucky you.. :) Thanks for sharing, at least I got to see it through YouTube.. :)
