I wish my ex husband would pay attention to #4!!!! I've experienced this many times my daughter trying to walk, go to the bathroom after seizure and she can barely walk. She sleeps on top bunk when visiting dad while her 8 yr old half brother sleeps on bottom. It's bad enough they needed paramedics once who could not access her there and had a hard time getting her down, she's 17. God forbid she sleepwalks out of bed or needs CPR it would be impossible!!! Why is he so stupid????
So is this a part of epilepsy or tourettes i didn't no you could have minny tics throughout the day that are classed as seziures, could anyone clarify that for me please and what do they call them and can this happen in adults ??
If anyone ever takes Keppra and gets the side effect of "being mean" or bad behavior, ask your doctor to add Vitamin B-6. It's a great stabilizer with the Keppra. I've heard many people like the combo.
Find an epileptologist. They are neurologists who specialize in seizures and seizure disorders. I also bet that if you get a 24 hour EEG you would find better results than a regular EEG, and it would probably not be normal, if she had something that day. It *might* help the doctors to know her med choices better. I stress the work might. No guarantees with tests.
I hope all is going well for her and yourself. I never really knew her condition, nor did I care to judge her on whatever she had. This girl is fucking awesome, Jim is a good person to sticking by her, and I'm still jealous of the keyboard she has. Shawn
I have Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. My autistic son does too. I get muscle twitches --he has eye movements like you show here, but he can also have grand mals.
Keppra made me MEAN. So watch. Most of the other meds made my autistic son VERY aggressive.
You have got to get glutamate out of her diet. read dogtorj.com --yes, DOGtorj he is a vet :) but his work on glutamate and seizure applies to people as well. Also check out Dr Blaylock. read his books.
let me add too... when I first tried keppra it worked 100% and I was having the arm, hand twitches/jerking, and sometimes my whole torso. But once it made me mean we switched to Lamictal --and that actually made them worse. In the end I went off all med b/c I decided they weren't worth it for me. I twitch much less now that I have cut out all Gluten and Casein and Soy --and MSG. I am also working on getting on a low glutamate diet. I hope to get my son off his meds too with help from the diet.
You know, Myoclonic, Drop, Tonic, maybe even small clonic seizures?? I have head drop seizures alot of the time as well as myoclonics and the head drops look the same as mine as well as the myoclonics when mine are bad.. Myo's were the first I had and doctors wrote it off as Anxiety!
Saw some atonic-myoclonic type seizure activity. Appears orginating from left side of brain and spreading...ie...myoclonus begins with jolts the shock like movements you see, then you;ll see a subsequent atonic head drop backwards. WIth myoclonic and atonic seizures, they come on suddenlym may remain for a few seconds, or prorgress to STATUS myolclonus (5-24mins of non stop jerking), this warrants rescue meds to stop. Meds like diazepam PR (per rectum, that doctor should have for you at home
@CDFoakley Definately strong MYOCLONIC jerks involved. Keppra best. Lamicat worst for myoclonic. Depakote best for drop seizures, but takes a awhile and is hard on liver, she should have carnitine levels and ammonia levels checked while on depakote. Wouldn't go for topomax unless all esle fails. Remember it takes time for meds to work and sometimes the seizures get worse before they get better. Drugs need to reach steady state....before they work and that may take weeks. When's next doc appt?
