  • wow ...one review on here that didn't piss me off by shitting playing or absolute bullshit.. good job dude!

  • shut up and play. we know about the amp lets hear it

  • whats better for high gain, triple xxx or 5150?

  • ritimlerde yanlış bişeyler yapmışsınız ses boğuk geliyor ama tonları çok iyi..

  • Hahaha ! I recorded my Demo with exactly the same stack. I just bring the tone down a little on my guitar and use a little compression (It's the key... compression = less gain needed. Less gain needed = more definition) Hear ! /watch?v=jCZpMJYZb4A

  • What are your settings on your clean at 2:54 and your crunch settings, great demo by the way, looking into buying one of these

  • I found the active tone controls overkill for the most part. I couldn't get the right tone even after switching to KT77s. I have been running my Digitech RP-500 into the FX Return, and it makes a killer tube poweramp. The Master volume is active when running into the FX return so you can get loud as hell with it.

  • I have this head and I play it through a Mesa at my friend's place. It absolutely kills! We used the same setup to record my band's EP. It turned out really well. I have no problem with the trucker chicks on there, but I still think it would be awesome to replace them with the diamond plate that the Dual Rec has.

  • I just got one of these off ebay for $395 shipped with a footswitch. You can get them for 450 all day long. I recommend, regardless the amp, a Boss 10 band EQ and/or a sonic maximizer. It can make such a difference. Even my Mesa Boogie Mark V doesn't have enough gain (even extreme channel) without a boost in front. The new Tubescreamers are as good as anything I've tried. If your head isn't high gain enough put a tubescreamer in front. People don't wanna spend the money but that's how its

  • Haven't been able to find out is the XXX a tube amp or solid state?

  • @ENCOREGUITARIST its a tube amp

  • @ENCOREGUITARIST 120watt class a/b tube

  • One amp does do everything....Engl Powerball II

  • whats the song from 2:55 - 3:30??

  • DAMN YOU SQUEAKY CHAIR!!!

  • it was a good demo but if you are going to demo an amp you NEED to mic the amp and NOT use the camera mic

  • what was that sexy sounding riff somewhere around 3:05?

  • this amp is pretty cheap on craiglist, about $300 to $400, is that a good price?

  • damn emg sucks on clean

  • @grigno97 EMGS are awesome on clean. That tone is the amp not the pickups.

  • sweeeeeet assssss amp.

  • I hate youtube compression.

  • @Gabriopunk77 with camera mic compression on top of it lol

  • Which Mesa cab is that? A rectifier?

  • LOL. The curse of the Guitar Player.

  • Thanks for the review man. Love your aggressive playing style!

  • sounds like a banjo

  • The compression in the camera is ruining the sound when you engage the distortion budy, you should try mic`ing the cab for a clearer demo. Thanx anyways, I`m considering buying this amp or the Peavey Valveking which has a very very nice clean tone.

  • stop looking the amp, he isn't going anywhere.

  • they are make a new triple x comes out soon

  • awesome video and sound. good for some suffocation tone.

  • I just bought one of these a few weeks ago at GC for 500 bucks. It is practically brand new, great shape, awesome sound. I'm contemplating swapping the tubes for a set of KT77s soon. Nice review, thanks!

  • BLAHBLABLABLA

  • Here are the spec of the guitar. Ibanez RG370DX Electric Guitar Features: Wizard II neck 3pc. Maple Neck Material Basswood Body 24/Jumbo frets Bound Rosewood Finger Board Edge III bridge IBZ INF3 (H) Neck PU IBZ INFS3 (S) Mid PU IBZ INF4 (H) Bridge PU Sharktooth Inlay
  • i have a peavey xxl and i love it

  • Dude can you tell us the specs on the guitar?

  • I have only played the 3120 once nice amp. I think it had El34's in it. I did not care for the build it felt like it was of a lessor build than the XXX. But it did have good tones. I would try both if you can and go with what you feel will work for you.

  • how would this compare to the 3120? cant decide between the two

  • Ive Played this Amp for 10 years and never had any problems with it other than the Stand by switch broke on me last year and had it replaced. Its been a work horse Gigs and recording and I am very happy with its tone. I wasnt too keen on the clean tones however but different 12ax7 tubes can give better clean tones. Not sure why they stopped making it as a Tripple XXX they disguised it as the 3120 but its the same amp. Good review.

  • hahaha "i guess if you dont like chicks its a problem" lmao!! haven't laughed that hard in awhile haha.

  • Dude good review! I got a 6505 combo the for Christmas and really like it. My friend has this same amp and plays in a metal band and live this thing sounds really good loud. Nice guitar too!

  • im really digging the sound of this amp...btw what kinda pedal do you normally use to switch between different number of channels

  • The Peavey XXX II will be released soon. It was presented at NAMM 2011 and just got announced at peavey.com

    It's $1399.99 MSRP

I've always wanted to get the XXX back then, so I'll definitely consider the XXX II for my next amp purchase.

  • They make it actually, under the name of Peavey 3120

  • just exchanged my laboga mr. hector with the peavey tripple x and i don't regret it! first time i played with the "new" head i fell in love with that beast! nice video dude!

  • Had that amp a few years ago This amp has much more gain and bass. But you could get some good tones out of the 6262.

  • how would you compare this to a bugera 6262 more gain and punchy bass?

  • I own the amp and it does kick ass. It is a little tricky dialing it in. The key is the effects loop, that's where you get the definition from.

  • Just messing around thanks for the + comment.

  • compression on video cam interferes on loud sounds

  • you sort of look and sound a bit like James Hertfield

  • @Destroyerrrrrr06 bollocks

  • Hey Man, nice Demo, finally I found one that really shows the amp.

    That Ibanez has EMG's?

Hows the EQ in this Demo? Seam to have a lot of Bass!

  • Would you recomend this amp for new metal, old rock and also a clean blusey sound? Thanks

  • He likes trucker girls.

  • I love these things got two of em and if u watch what ur doin with the eq u can get a shitload of old marshall and bassman tones out of the things

  • i came across this video before, and was like ehh good sound... moved on... i came back about 2 months later... and im like in love with this amp lo... go figure.. nice review bud

  • @c0d3x5 Thanks for the commet man.

  • would you put this over the valveking in the distortion area?

  • @sovietmudkip1 I have not played the valveking. But if you love lots of low end and gain this will do it.

  • @sovietmudkip1 I've played them both, the XXX has quite a bit more gain. I mean if you're looking to do metal, the Valve King will be a little disappointing, the XXX is more up your alley.

  • If you love hair metal to the most brutal of metal...This amp is for you. NO good low gain tones in this amp. Clean is lifeless.

  • It is not a real noisy amp but at much higher levels it would be a great tool.

  • would i need a noise gate?

  • Great demo man!! Nice to see some one demoing affordable amps that knows what hes talking about. Great stuff!!

  • @thewrathofraf Thanks I love checking out gear and seeing how many people dig the guitar like I do.

  • @ROBTUCSON Sweet man. If you get a chance, Ive got some higher quality JSX, 5150, and 6505 212 combo demos up. I also have a couple of videos on the VHT Deliverance D60, as well as some other random things.

  • I have a XXX also. I was wondering if you are using any other pedals besides the delay? Or is it just the delay and amp? Thanks in advance.

  • @OhMyEverHolyWorld Only the Digidelay.

  • what kind of footpedal were you using in this video? nice playing btw

  • @burryXmeXplease A Digitech Degidelay.

  • the jsx the only differance is that there is a resonance knob,a built in noise gate and a fat boost swtich on each channel

  • Hi!

    Nice video.

Have you played the JSX head, too? If actually so, how would you say the two compare in the high-gain territory?

    Regards

    J.

  • @goodbyecadillac I have owned the Jsx and it is a great Amp also I would say the Jsx was tweaked from a XXX put has more of range of tones not better or worse just some more options. If you play more in your face the xxx if you need more range then the Jsx.

  • @ROBTUCSON Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I probably don't need a gain tone as brutal as the XXX's ultra channel. I play pop punk and melodic rock.

I heard the JSX's ultra channel has about the same amount of gain on tap as the XXX's crunch channel.

Which should still be plenty if I felt like going for a 80s-90s heavy metal sound (think Maiden, Annihilator), would you agree?

  • @goodbyecadillac Yes if you have the wide range of styles I would say the jsx. The clean channel was made for the use of pedals no breakup at all that was the only thing I did not care for but for people that use lots of front end drives and pedals it great. Just more options not bad or good.

  • looks like a dual rec, how does it compare?

  • @guitarsbunch347 I would say this was Peaveys take on the Mesa. I have owned the Mesa single rec and a duel rec and great amps but I found I only would use for heavey down tunnings and never really liked the lead tones I would get. But so many have made great recordings with them. The is not the same Amp as a Mesa you can get tons of low end and more gain than you really need but can you ever have enough gain.

  • how do these compare to and run along side with a 6505+? I have been thinking of picking one of these bad boys up as they will probably be worth a lot in 20 years time lol

  • @armasiel I love the 5150 and 6505 Amps great for metal. The distortion in not the same on the two. If you are going to play out I would go with a 5150 or 6505 or now a 6534. But if you are more of a home player you will be able to go to the xxx for all You newer metal needs. One thing with both amps they can not get marshall tones from them but they are not marshalls.

  • @ROBTUCSON I already own a 6505+ head :)

  • your chair sounds like a segul... lol

  • Nice amp, In my opinion It sounds Better than The 5150

  • Do think you get more dymanics with other pickups? (NOT emgs, they dont have very much dynamics) but someting like a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker or JB?

  • @MetallicaAnders Never really have been fan of emgs but others love them. You can not clean up the chrunch or lead channel by backing of the volume. you can turn the gain down on the chrunch and then use the lead as the lead.

  • Nice amp and nice playing dude! I've got the same one and I really, really love it!

Can you tell me, what your settings are?

PS: Give us more with the Peavey XXX ;-)

  • Thanks I set high at 9 oclock and mid at 12 oclock and low at 4 oclock gain around 1 oclock master volume 12 oclock and channel volume around 10 oclock hope this helps.

  • Great review man. Lots of helpful info.

  • This amp head good for death metal? I play alot of Nile, CAnnibal Corpse, Suffocation type stuff.

  • @BeanersCanLikIt yes it would put like any amp see if you can plug into one before you buy.

  • nice demo man, I have the 2x12 combo. Great amp.

  • definitely a solid amp but as far as budget heads i think some of the bugeras are better overall. sounds like the mic on your camera's clipping the sound a bit, try moving it around.

  • @GuitarXGunz Thanks I will try messing with the Camera.
