you mentioned that tylose is pretty much the same as gum tex.... does that mean that in a gum paste recipe asking for tylose I can switch it for gum tex using the SAME measurements or does I have to use more or less?
im using fondant and using tylo, how do you store your characters. mine seem to sweat and go soft even after hardening when i leave them in a room to dry, what am i doing wrong?
Ive tried to make the past by adding powder to regal ice fondant, it is rubbery and wont go hard when I try to make flowers it is just like playdoe. How do you make it right? I love you tutorials
I have never have very good luck trying to use a regular fondant such as Regal Ice to do flowers...I only use a gumpaste , OR the Wilton Fondant with Tylose Powder to it and it works GREAT!
Thanks for your sweet comment Happyicer!!! I can't wait to see your flowers!
I used tylose powder in MMF and it worked great, I used 6 teaspoons to a batch of it, and I bought my tylose powder off of ebay it is called Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose CMC I paid $10 for 2 lbs. so it is really cheap to buy it from their.
I'm not sure exactly what Tylose is - could I substitute it with 10X?? Or another type of powder?? Thank you very much for your videos!!! So helpful!!
tylose powder is a gum ingrdient that helps to add strength to fondant and also helps to stop moisture issues...it is avail at cake supply stores online.
Can you add tylose to already coloured fondant?

If you are looking for Tylose, you can find it on Ebay. Look for The Bakers Stop Cake Supplies.

is gumpaste ok to eat? cuz i hear u can make certain things with it in the kitchen, and what does it taste like?
5324er 2 years ago
Gumpaste is edible, however it has a plain taste and most don't eat it because it can dry pretty hard.
donnalane626 2 years ago
yeah i found out the hard way. i made crappy candy cigarettes that were chewy and had no real taste.
