I have Hi-points original 9mm model, bought it back in '05 for ~$150... I thought it was to cheap toi be true. I have shot thousands of rounds through it without cleaning it, and it is still as accurate as the day I bought it. I can not recall it misfiring, and during a recent scare at my house in the middle of the night I grabbed it vs my Mossberg, my AR, or my .380.. I would fight with this weapon over many others I have used! Great review, your a crack shot!
Thank you Jeff for what you do your video reviews are short and sweet and to the point unlike some jokers who just preach nowadays and your writen reviews are well composed and informative. From one lefty to another much love and respect.
I'd say that, within the confines of your own castle, you can use any darn thing you can lay your hands on. Some jurisdictions would take issue with that, but they are just plain wrong.
For anybody interested in buying: Just throwing it out there from somebody who owned one. The 995 is a great value. Extremely reliable (3 ftf the whole time i owned it) Keep in mind, the sights are a tad akward and the gun is a little uncomfortable. Other than that, it really is great.
sniperguy...hunting deer with a 9mm isnt a great idea unless you are in a very tight spot if thats what u plan on buying this gun for atleast get the 45 . these are outstanding guns for the money . I picked one up used for 250 at a gun show and all the extras are fairly cheap so tricking them out is easy on the old wallet .great gun for when the zombies come lol
This is a very affordable, reliable gun. Take it from somebody who has one, it really is the best for the money. Pretty darn decent for hunting if i might add. If you're on the fence for a pistol carbine, this really is the most economical choice. Also look at the sub2k from keltec. Decent. Nice video, buddy. Keep em coming
You give great reviews...why anybody would even comment/dislike the opening and closing music is beyond me. First of all, it adds character. Secondly, what does it have to do with a gun where you actually have to comment on it? Geez...I know you cant please anybody, but thats like serving a guy steak and he says...I hate the way cows smell. Good job
so if it get this gun in the .45 you think it would be any good for hunting? and hipoints are ugly as hell... but they are worth every penny and reliable. my friend trusts his life with his

For what it's worth, these carbines are very accurate, and feed & fire just fine. I have zero issues with my older model 995. I bought and installed the ATI stock for the 995, and it really dresses up this horror show of a carbine! :) Next step is the 17" top rail for the 995/ATI platform and then flip up front and rear sights. I haven't quite decided if I want to install a red dot optic.
@BassmanSW i agree, really for the price they cant be beat for a fun, cheap to feed plinker that could be used in more serious circumstances if god forbid it ever came to it.
I have considered picking one up but hesitated since I have never heard anyone say anything nice about there pistols. Looks to me like the carbine does just fine. Is it gas or blow-back operated?
The firearm is just a tool. It has no will of its own. Some tools are used for good, and some are misused for evil. There is evil in this world. It would have been much better if those teachers had also had firearms within their reach; instead, they were obeying the law, and were slaughtered. The punks did not obey the law, and were allowed to freely kill all they wanted, because the teachers were not armed, and the cops were afraid to go inside.
@Gunblastdotcom sadly true! Guns should only be open and allowed to those who use them for target practice and competition and even hunting. this world is a sick place. and great channel, i subscribed! :)
@ShaneThompson94 I don't agree with you on who should be able to have them. If you are a law abiding person, then you should be able to have one if you choose. Yes, sadly, there are some sick individuals out there who use them to kill. And, yes, the gun was invented for that reason. That does not mean all of us who own one will use it to kill another human being. The gun is a tool; it depends on the person wielding it as to how it is used. I hunt and target. why do u not have the mkuzzle break aka flash surpessor on while firring but on durring the talking portion, just wondering, i just bought a brand new 995 ts nea $420 out the door in california,
@baine1976 yea i know its pretty bad out here, especially in sacramento ca, so how loud is the 995ts compared to say .17hmr?? soon after i pick this up next week im getting either mossberg 500 $300 / or kel tech su-16ca $599, or warsr 10/63 ak47 $599 idk yet im going to get at least to shotgun and rifle, which one next tho hmm???/?
@saclve the 995ts is louder, but not by much, than the 17hmr. I have one of those, too, and really like it! You have to get the Mossy!!!! I love mine. I put the six position stock on it, a scope (I got mine with a cantilevered rifled barrel and shot barrel for $350), and a few other items on it. I use it to hunt bear out here. The Rem 870 is a beauty too. I have both. Pick your poison on the rifle, I'm partial to 308 and 30-06. Happy shooting with your choices!
@baine1976 im thinking bout the ar15 right now out here i kan get a decent set up for around $800 out the door, mossberg 500 i kan get for $350 out the door
@saclve go for it! I wouldn't turn any of them down. You can def get the AR cheaper than i can out here. Their popularity has pushed base models up to around $1200. I want one in NATO 308 and the 50 Beowulf. The misses would kill me if I spent 3 grand on two rifles though! LOL.
Some gunsnobs think anything that cost less than 1000 with the exception of glock is junk, they are unrealistic and petty and should be ignored...Most of them buy expensive guns and still can't shoot...It's hilarious
One of my co-workers owns one of these. We headed to the range, and when I fired it, my teeth began to hurt. I can't be sure, but it might have something to do with the HP's overall form and design, considering we fired his .30-'06 Remington 742 afterwards and my teeth felt fine.
I'm thinking of getting one of these when I have the money too. I did have a question to anyone who owns one I know it comes with a 10rd mag but I heard they make a 15 for it. I hate reloading so I just wanted to know if it takes the 15rd mags without any trouble.
Some people never pull a trigger on anything, but want to tell others what is best. Do what works best for you. Personally, I do better work with a scope, even at 25 yards.
@Gunblastdotcom i like the way the 995 ts looks over the sub 2000,. but i think im going to go with the sub 2000 for reason that it can be folded and fit into a possible go bag if whatever situation hits and your not sure if you'll need a weapon or not but will have it,and also the 32 round mag!!
2) Look for Shannon Hayes' "The Gateway" (sometimes referred to as "The Getaway"). It used to be available on CDBaby. If you have trouble, contact my brother Boge, who produces our videos - his email address is boge-at-gunblast-dot-com.
I bought this gun a few months ago and put many rounds through it with no problems , great gun great deal , I got it with the lazer and 2 ten shot clips for about 250.
Oh and not to mention, advanced technologies makes a very good "Beretta CX4" style stock kit, it looks great on this gun and feels a little more solid. It can be had for around $60 shipped.
Good review Jeff. I too avoided this gun because the words "you get what you pay for" came to mind. This gun is the exception. I got mine slightly used with foregrip and laser for $219 shipped ($240 total after ffl transfer). WOW. Impressive accuracy, no recoil, great ergonomics including the shock absorbing stock butt. Have put 1000 rounds of 9mm (200 of which were +P) and no hiccups. Also picked up a 15RD extended magazine. What a steal, and it comes in 3 flavors: 9mm, 40 S&w, and 45 ACP!
I just purchased the 995 Saturday, took it out Sunday and put 150 rounds plus thru it.....didn't jam once.....held 4" at 50 yards with stock sights.......This gun is sooooo much fun.......what a good deal. I just mounted a red dot scope to it and will really try out the accuracy, but I can tell you that you will NOT find a better gun for the money ANYWHERE! Way to go HIGH-POINT I will buy more from them, I wished they made rifles.
I really respect the way you are willing to admit that you underestimated the 995 due to its low price. There are SO many mindless HiPoint haters out there!
Iraqvet88888 did a touture test on the C9 and there 380 I always thought they where crap but I was wrong after I saw that review they still might be crap but they're good crap
Maybe there are some manufactures for gun smithing who offer a barrel in 357sig. For example there are no berettas 92/96 in 357sig. But Barsto for example offers also barrels in 356sig because if you have an 96 (40sw) you just have to change the barrel. Its the same cartridge you can use the same receiver even mags just the caliber is different, so you only need another barrel.
And btw, xan you do a one-year reliability follow up on your 995 (Including hollow point ammo for feeding issues). I am working on a social work degree and need your input.
@Dechthem If you mean the IMI (Israeli Military Industries) black tip 9mm parabellum made for the Uzi, then no. The IMI stuff is loaded for carbine/SMG use only and would likely degrade or impair function on a conventional 9mm handgun. I'm uncertain of the SAAMI specs on it, but the IMI 9mm is a lot hotter and higher pressure than +P loads.
@deussolinvictus Thank you but no it is not the IMI I was wondering about, rather the swedish army standard 9mm M39b I can use it in a glock 17 and it works great with my cz 85 combat. I am not sure what their rate is.
@HiPointMan In my opinion, Hipoint is one amazing company. excellent product, excellent price, and like you said, excellent customer service! I Have NEVER had a problem with any of my hipointS that wasn't user inflicted, they flat out run and don't stop.
Would this gun in 9mm be adequate enough for defense purposes, and does it have enough stopping power? Or should I get the 45 acp version. The 9mm version costs 250$ and the 45 acp costs 330$.
@andrewvanrhoberts Though supposedly you could get regular .45 single stack 1911 mags and modify them so you can have a 15 round mag for the 4595 cheaper.
I have taken my Hi-Point carbine hunting, the 9mm is phenomenal for deer within 100 yards! A red dot helps turn the Hi-Point into a very accurate, mid distance weapon!
I am debating between the .40 hi-point carbine or the kel tec plr 16. It is only for home defense. I have a sigma for conceal carry. I just need something for the house. I also like your use of the term social work. I might have to steal that from you. Do you mind If I put this up on my facebook page?
Looks like a decent gun for pest control and small game hunting. Unfortunately I do not think I would be allowed to buy one because "military looking" firearms are not allowed to be used in hunting, so the police will not give out any license on those "evil black rifles". This is why Swedish hunters are allowed to use a Ruger mini 14 but not a AR-15 for hunting.
ive owned two of these guns in the past and have to say they are the worst pieces of crap i've ever had. I'd say they even come close to being totally unsafe to shoot. Mostly plastic, easy to jam, and after a short time shooting them they would start to come apart. I will never waste money on these cheap plastic guns. Just my review on this crap.
@tscotty32 not true...i dont own one but i own a 9mm pistol hipoint and its very reliable.the carbines are even better.my uncles is 4 years old and has never had to go back to the factory hasnt fallen apart or jam..3000 rounds n countin wit it bro
@GunNut12680 Maybe so brotherman.. i dunno.. i just haven't had any luck with the two i bought. I tried to take them to a gun smith and he wouldn't even work on it. He told me these were cheap guns you use and throw away. So I just haven't had good luck with them. But thats just been my experience though..
What kind of accuracy do you think it could provide at 150 yards? I'm looking for about 3", and deciding between a SU-16, a Thureon Defense Carbine, and the Model 995.
ihave used the cheapest brown bear, reloaded ammo, whitebox, extreme shock air freedoms, in mine, standing up upside down, aying down picking my nose, and never sticking.
This gun is the only one that i know that makes an AK47 seem complicated.
Would you reccomend this gun for a first gun or get something else

@saclve I feel bad for those who buy firearms in Cali. I bought mine with all the goodies for $275 new here in PA.
baine1976 6 months ago
@baine1976 yea i know its pretty bad out here, especially in sacramento ca, so how loud is the 995ts compared to say .17hmr?? soon after i pick this up next week im getting either mossberg 500 $300 / or kel tech su-16ca $599, or warsr 10/63 ak47 $599 idk yet im going to get at least to shotgun and rifle, which one next tho hmm???/?
saclve 6 months ago
@saclve the 995ts is louder, but not by much, than the 17hmr. I have one of those, too, and really like it! You have to get the Mossy!!!! I love mine. I put the six position stock on it, a scope (I got mine with a cantilevered rifled barrel and shot barrel for $350), and a few other items on it. I use it to hunt bear out here. The Rem 870 is a beauty too. I have both. Pick your poison on the rifle, I'm partial to 308 and 30-06. Happy shooting with your choices!
baine1976 6 months ago
@baine1976 im thinking bout the ar15 right now out here i kan get a decent set up for around $800 out the door, mossberg 500 i kan get for $350 out the door
saclve 6 months ago
@saclve go for it! I wouldn't turn any of them down. You can def get the AR cheaper than i can out here. Their popularity has pushed base models up to around $1200. I want one in NATO 308 and the 50 Beowulf. The misses would kill me if I spent 3 grand on two rifles though! LOL.

i just bought this gun from a friend for $200 ....i think its a pretty good gun.... i like that its comes with rails
edwincastro19 7 months ago
Some gunsnobs think anything that cost less than 1000 with the exception of glock is junk, they are unrealistic and petty and should be ignored...Most of them buy expensive guns and still can't shoot...It's hilarious
salembadass 7 months ago
One of my co-workers owns one of these. We headed to the range, and when I fired it, my teeth began to hurt. I can't be sure, but it might have something to do with the HP's overall form and design, considering we fired his .30-'06 Remington 742 afterwards and my teeth felt fine.

I'm thinking of getting one of these when I have the money too. I did have a question to anyone who owns one I know it comes with a 10rd mag but I heard they make a 15 for it. I hate reloading so I just wanted to know if it takes the 15rd mags without any trouble.

@Gunblastdotcom im seeing people saying its only good for 100 yds and heckling people for putting a scope on theirs, what do you think jeff?
shinnecockwarrior 10 months ago
Some people never pull a trigger on anything, but want to tell others what is best. Do what works best for you. Personally, I do better work with a scope, even at 25 yards.

@Gunblastdotcom i like the way the 995 ts looks over the sub 2000,. but i think im going to go with the sub 2000 for reason that it can be folded and fit into a possible go bag if whatever situation hits and your not sure if you'll need a weapon or not but will have it,and also the 32 round mag!!
shinnecockwarrior 9 months ago
1) just got a 995 and can't wait to shoot it. Nice video!
2) where can I find the whole song that you used in the intro? that fella has got some skills on the ax

1) Thanks!
2) Look for Shannon Hayes' "The Gateway" (sometimes referred to as "The Getaway"). It used to be available on CDBaby. If you have trouble, contact my brother Boge, who produces our videos - his email address is boge-at-gunblast-dot-com.

Oh and not to mention, advanced technologies makes a very good "Beretta CX4" style stock kit, it looks great on this gun and feels a little more solid. It can be had for around $60 shipped.
jpap967 11 months ago
Good review Jeff. I too avoided this gun because the words "you get what you pay for" came to mind. This gun is the exception. I got mine slightly used with foregrip and laser for $219 shipped ($240 total after ffl transfer). WOW. Impressive accuracy, no recoil, great ergonomics including the shock absorbing stock butt. Have put 1000 rounds of 9mm (200 of which were +P) and no hiccups. Also picked up a 15RD extended magazine. What a steal, and it comes in 3 flavors: 9mm, 40 S&w, and 45 ACP!
jpap967 11 months ago
I just purchased the 995 Saturday, took it out Sunday and put 150 rounds plus thru it.....didn't jam once.....held 4" at 50 yards with stock sights.......This gun is sooooo much fun.......what a good deal. I just mounted a red dot scope to it and will really try out the accuracy, but I can tell you that you will NOT find a better gun for the money ANYWHERE! Way to go HIGH-POINT I will buy more from them, I wished they made rifles.

Do you know of a carbine in 357SIG caliber?
frankgon4 1 year ago
I do not.
Jeff
Gunblastdotcom 1 year ago
@frankgon4

Anyone know if this gun can use high powered 9mm? like military grade armour percing? I mean with out drasticly deminnish it's time of service.
Dechthem 1 year ago
@Dechthem It's rated for +P ammo.
jwash3rd 1 year ago
@jwash3rd sorry but I am unfamilijar with that term. what does it mean?
thanks for answering me!
Dechthem 1 year ago
@Dechthem If you mean the IMI (Israeli Military Industries) black tip 9mm parabellum made for the Uzi, then no. The IMI stuff is loaded for carbine/SMG use only and would likely degrade or impair function on a conventional 9mm handgun. I'm uncertain of the SAAMI specs on it, but the IMI 9mm is a lot hotter and higher pressure than +P loads.
deussolinvictus 1 year ago
@deussolinvictus Thank you but no it is not the IMI I was wondering about, rather the swedish army standard 9mm M39b I can use it in a glock 17 and it works great with my cz 85 combat. I am not sure what their rate is.
Dechthem 1 year ago
@HiPointMan In my opinion, Hipoint is one amazing company. excellent product, excellent price, and like you said, excellent customer service! I Have NEVER had a problem with any of my hipointS that wasn't user inflicted, they flat out run and don't stop.
haman2486 1 year ago
Would this gun in 9mm be adequate enough for defense purposes, and does it have enough stopping power? Or should I get the 45 acp version. The 9mm version costs 250$ and the 45 acp costs 330$.
andrewvanrhoberts 1 year ago
The 9mm has plenty of power.
Jeff
Gunblastdotcom 1 year ago
@andrewvanrhoberts Though supposedly you could get regular .45 single stack 1911 mags and modify them so you can have a 15 round mag for the 4595 cheaper.
armypenguin 1 year ago
I have taken my Hi-Point carbine hunting, the 9mm is phenomenal for deer within 100 yards! A red dot helps turn the Hi-Point into a very accurate, mid distance weapon!
haman2486 1 year ago
I am debating between the .40 hi-point carbine or the kel tec plr 16. It is only for home defense. I have a sigma for conceal carry. I just need something for the house. I also like your use of the term social work. I might have to steal that from you. Do you mind If I put this up on my facebook page?
4Tcal 1 year ago
Don't mind at all. Also consider the Kel-Tec Sub-2000.
It uses standard cheap and plentiful Glock magazines.

JimBoopLoop 1 year ago
The best thing they ever did was to change that ol' ugly stock. ATI is going to be pissed. I liked to get the .45 acp version though.
pveg65 1 year ago

What kind of accuracy do you think it could provide at 150 yards? I'm looking for about 3", and deciding between a SU-16, a Thureon Defense Carbine, and the Model 995.
The price just seems too good to be true!
Shrantic 1 year ago
I did not shoot it that far, but getting less than one inch at 50 yards, the accuracy should hold very well.

ihave used the cheapest brown bear, reloaded ammo, whitebox, extreme shock air freedoms, in mine, standing up upside down, aying down picking my nose, and never sticking.
This gun is the only one that i know that makes an AK47 seem complicated.
