always got fond memories of this fight! won a lot of money due to betting on barrera! hamed did a good job hand picking his opponents but barrera was always gonna win this even though hamed was the favourite! easy money!
Prince Naseem got schooled by Barrera. I think Barrera/Morales in their prime were complete fighter with great jab. Prince Naseem was a great entertainer but never was a complete boxer.
Prince Naseem a great boxer, he didnt get knocked out by barrera he lost, so what, all great boxers lose and come back, naseem personally coulve fought for another 10 years he was young, but left the sport, if anyone disses his faith, you people are very stupid, show some respect. A featherweight legend, who will never be forgotten from my mind.
I've got tired of telling you people that Hamed never was a boxer. If you like him beacause of his shows or something that does not mean that he was a great boxer, he was a clown, and Marco proved it
Hamed lookked as if he was gonna start throwing like he does in the first round til he got clocked good! Shit like that makes a boxer hesitant so if he wasn't the same i say its because of what happened within the first minute of the first round. People get gun shy when they get hit hard like that. so thin about it.
@farcry2isthebest cool so naz won't argue with his manager then he can outclass barerra? So naz lost his style to beat bererra because of the the argument with sweet manager then he lost his skill to fight barerra? Buddy your cool man. Thanks for the laugh.
Prince Naseem was a great boxer and it seemed he didn't even try that hard in this fight and didn't even get knocked down while Barrera put 100% effort just to avoid getting knocked out. I love prince Naseem and wish him all the best in this life and the next inshallah!
That's what a well trained boxer does, he makes aggressive fighters think twice before throwing any shots because they know they will get countered, the result is less punches thrown. This is evident in the Marquez/Pacquiao 3 fight as well.
Anybody that thinks this wasn't a masterclass from Barrera doesn't have a clue about boxing...moving up in weight and tweaking his style the way he did! Genius! Barrera, Morales and Marquez were the main men back then and as soon as Naz touched one of them he was over! No heart, no guts, very exciting when he has things his own way. But with an elite level guy like Barrera! GAME OVER!
I believe that for a period of a few years, this guy was THE best in the world NO ONE would be able to beat him, that in itself is worth recognition, even if he did lose eventually, he is a model of courage and bravery
@mastodon2806 If you watch his whole career from the beginning, you'll see that people said that all throughout his career, "first real test" and he won everytime, until he lost, but everybody loses, even muhammed ali, it's impressive he went undeafeted for so long
Morales would have been knocked this guy out in 10 rounds. Pacman will also make this guy Gone in 60 seconds. Yurioskis gamboa will also knock him in 5. Chris john will school him for 12 rounds. Juan manuel Lopez will eat him alive in 3 rounds. Donaire probably will embarass him for good.
Naseem was one of the best boxers ever - FACT. Something non british fans who didnt follow most of career is that when Naseem and his original trainer Brendan Ingle split, he wasn't fighting as good, slowly as the fights went on, you could see Naseem didn't have the heart to be in the sport anymore, he wasn't training right, he just didn't want it. To go 12 rounds against Barrera and not once get knocked down, and to fight with your hands down is something special only Naseem could do. Peace.
@FameKillusion thanks alot for the uploads, naz was the best featherweight, his style was altered by steward and he was way too straight up, but to be fair he did get too cocky, he didnt train properly for the bout and didnt have a gameplan, at his best, he would of beaten barrera, its unfortunate that most people judge him by this as it was his biggest fight, it came at the wrong time for him. He won the wbc, wbo, ibf, ibo an beat the wba champ but hopkins was the first to hold them all at once
@shoulderollHD he's the same with FMJ was the same with Nas, tried it on with Roy jones but got put in his place, staight away. he seems to have it in for any boxer thats mouthy and lets just say 'not white'.
from when nas beat kevin kelly the yanks, big george foreman aside, were praying for anyone that could put him in his place,
this fight should have took place 18 months prior to when it did, when the prince was a different fighter, but barrera morales et al said no
@shoulderollHD He's like 38 right now, the only thing he learned to do in life is knock people out, he even trained aganist heavier boxers in training, middleweights, even heavyweights, he could knock any average person out, unless you're a pro boxer, he would probably knock you out
If Hamed fought like this against any of his previous HBO opponents I believe he would've got beaten in the same fashion. It was obvious the Hamed that showed up for this fight was completely different. He rarely threw even a two punch combination. Even in the Sanchez fight, Hamed was way more aggressive and threw way more punches.
@FameKillusion This hamed that showed up lost before the fight started. I rember watching this and saying No Flip he lost. I think playing those pre fight games back fired on the prince. But either way was a great fight
@kbvilla Totally agree with you. He just needed to be more aggressive in the fight against Barerra then he would have won easily. It was so frustrating in that fight, a simple combination is all he needed.
who fought first barrera? naseem or pacquiao?
