Alas, my darling nevermore.....I love Poe. I hate people who act like they know everything about him, and think they understand exactly what he means in every poem/story. It just ticks me off when people are arrogant enough to believe that the literature has a different meaning for everyone...there is only 1 intended meaning!!

I actually believe that when people try to find the one meaning of any poem, and declare that their meaning is correct, are arrogant known it all's. No one, no one, can know what was going in the mind of the author unless he wrote what HE meant by it exactly.

@MakiPhoenix lol true but i looked around and there is another short story poe wrote called The Premature burial which is probably what it was based on since you can hear a person shoveling dirt onto the coffin if you turn it up loud enough and listen for it but the cask is also a story i enjoyed reading as well as the pit and the pendulum. poe is my favorite writer of all personally.
