his life could be worse i guess. He gets a bottomless bowl of water/food and no threat from predators.... in exchange he has to mimic the auditory sounds that human beings produce.
I wonder where he would be if he didn't feel like mimicking humans? lol
i have a macaw and he can say hello jacko(hs name) and he is working on dancing but my sister has a african grey called smirth and she can say hello, heo sharon kiss kiss, samanther,what,f-off get stuffed she learnt bad language from my sisters boyfriend he not a anima man so he shouts at her.
A friends had one of these and it used to immitate people in their home. He calls names as another doing exactly the same way. He makes phone ringing tone and then carries on as someone is answering the phone. Onyl after a while others get to knwo that is not a man. He was great.
tthomaselli2: Although it sounds nothing like it, I think she's working on saying "I'm an African Grey.... from the Congo." The reason I think this is just the inflections. She always says Congo in a very sing-songy way. But I could be wrong. Only Bibi knows for sure.
Did you hear her saying "What you cookin?" at 1:34? (I never noticed that before.)
No clue. I've listened to it over and over. She does that quite often, where she imitates someone's voice, but it's absolute jibberish. In fact she's done it so much that she usually laughs afterward (because it makes us laugh).
I love African Greys. They are the most amazing creatures on this Earth! How do you get one? I know they are uber expensive, but I have always wanted one!
best to buy a baby grey about 3-5 months old. best to buy from a breeder, pet stores only maintain birds, most birds are not hand friendly.buy from a breed that hand feeds. the can range from 700.1500.00 depending what state you are in. and depends on breeder.
She is now up to 18 languages. There is a video of her saying hello in 16 languages on another video site. Just search google for parrot 16 languages. She is working on 19 and 20. When we get them on video, we'll post a 20 language version.
She's up to 12 right now. English, Swahili, Japanese, Chinese, German, French, Hawaiian, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, Finnish, and Polish. She's working on Russian, Arabic, and Hindi.
I made a mistake on the subtitles. Ticker's video was earlier than what the subtitles indicate. Echo's video is playing when the subtitles say it's Ticker's video.
I wish I could say yes, but I'm so sorry to say that I don't have any. But believe you me, they are smart birds. The bird actually belongs to my mother of whom I live with. I can also attest to the fact that they can be a bit messy sometimes.
there is a mistake in this video, it should be asian grey talking not african xD

I think Bibi is saying "big kiss" because she enjoys hearing Ticker whistle that song. What a smart bird she is!!!
