  • Somewhere far away

there's a soldier boy who dreams a dream of home.

    Where a nightingale

sings a promise to the ones who sleep alone.

Spring is in the air with scent of cherry blossom in the glen.

    Whispering a prayer

saying bring our heroes safely home again.

  • im in love

  • She's very god singer

  • Wonderful, Faryl! You have an incredible voice and are very pretty as well as being so self composed for someone so young.

  • So the wind blows sweet and the candles burn

for there is no sleep for the ones who yearn

As I tell your story with a faithful heart

you are always in our hearts though we are worlds apart

    (chorus x2)

  • There's a hero's tale of a ship that sails Under days and stars somewhere far away and she's bound for glory on a fallbound shore But the hero's every boy who's sailed off to war. (chorus) Somewhere far away there's a soldier boy who dreams a dream of home. Where a nightingale sings a promise to the ones who sleep alone. Spring is in the air with scent of cherry blossom in the glen. Whispering a prayer saying bring our heroes safely home again.
  • @RedxEyesxarexawesome Sorry but your version of the words is incorrect. You will find the correct ones on page 2. I have checked these against the words printed in the insert of her album "Wonderland".

  • Her voice reminds me of Tarja former singer of Nightwish

  • @krzyxmonkey Yes I can hear Tarja in her voice a little bit. I would like to hear Faryl sing 'Swanheart' which is here on youtube check it out if you haven't already heard it, or just play it again. I listen to it pretty much every other day. Tarja never sang so Epic as she did on that too short masterpiece from Tuomas.

  • Did she fix her teeth?

  • @ashvic2 Exactly what I was thinking. I guess she must have.

  • @ashvic2 I'm sure she did. I have heard she's a millionaire, or multi millionaire. Even if she didn't , she's a great singer. Can't you tell by watching this Video? If you have to ask, she must have, or they would be noticeable. Even when her teeth were bad, I thought she was pretty.

  • Beautiful!

  • I didn't know Alexanra Burke did a version! No I meant some other woman, I think she's Korean?

Yeah Faryl's is the best song so far. But my favourite stays as the live piano version by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

  • @bunniesprinkles You don't mean the female Japanese pop singer utada hikaru she did a version of the song,, and I have to say, the live piano version is fantastic the one from the Tro world tour in 1996 and have you heard the guitar version by Japanese guitar wizard Kotaro Oshio that is amazing to, it was on here a 6 min live version, but its now gone. I think there is a shorter version on here though.

  • Ryuichi Sakamoto makes my life!

I thought this tune would go well with singing, Utada and some other girl I can't remember the name of covered it well too but they changed it quite a bit.

  • @bunniesprinkles

There's been at least a dozen songs based on Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" (1983), but I assume the female singer you're talking about is probably fellow UK singer Alexandra Burke?

Personally, I prefer Faryl's version to the Utada and Alexendra versions, mainly because it sounds a lot more faithful to the original version. Faryl's vocals actually match the original melody, while the lyrics match the original film's war-time setting.

  • @tybuzz67 There's a hero's tale of a ship that sails Under distant stars somewhere far away And she's bound for glory on a foreign shore But the hero's every boy who sailed off to war. (refrain) Somewhere far away there's a soldier boy who dreams a dream of home Where a nightingale sings a promise to the ones who sleep alone Spring is in the air with scent of cherry blossom in the glen Whispering a prayer, saying bring our heroes safely home again. (cont.)
  • @tybuzz67 (continued)

So the willows weep and the candles burn

For there is no sleep for the ones who yearn

As I tell your story with a thankful heart

You are always in our thoughts though we're worlds apart.

    (rpt refrain)

Where are you? Somwhere far away

We miss you more with each new day

    (rpt. refrain)

The two lines beginning with Where are you. Are only sung by Faryl on her album. She does not sing them in this vid
