  • That looks really good! I will be trying that receipe! Hair and Food tips...you doing it up! Love it! Stay Blessed!

  • I made this exactly like Ateyaaa, I normally make my curry from scratch, however I tried the Golden Curry and it is definitely has a different flavor than the Jamaican Curry I make from scratch, but it was very good. I also used the Po-Bubba's Video by Ateyaaa to make my jumbo shrimp. It was very good. Thanks Ateyaaa.

  • bag rice is the bomb! lol

  • God, Bless you Child! That was uplifting and inspiring!

  • MAKE SOME MORE COOKING VIDS..

  • that was fascinating!

  • im going to be in culinary school soon(with 7-8 years of cooking experience entering) ummm you dont need to cook shrimp for more then 6-7 mins. but she was making an INDIAN CURRY. not a islander curry / jamican. but there are several , several diffrent curries. yellow red orangish -yellow.....from mild to hot. that is a curry but i would just make everything from scratch but i will maybe try this recipe my way:)

  • i have the same strainer lol :)

  • OMG! I LOVE HER! I DIDN'T KNOW U MADE SHRIMP TOO! OH LAWD! HELP ME BABY JESUS! I LOVE THIS WOMAN! IN THE NAME OF YESHUA! MY MY MY! MAN FUCK IT WILL YOU MARRY ME?.... • I love this girl!!!!! Do da dam thing! I've been laughing all night...

  • Honey! I love you! You are my new fav, coz you REAL!

But I agree with Daintyvj. I would start yer curry 1st, and add the shrimp near the end.

And, if you let it sit a bit, the curry will thicken more too.

But overall, you made a FAB dinner. You have inspired me to make shrimp tomoz night.

PS - you need some greens gurl. LOL!

  • i know you love a good JUMBO shrimp time over and over good one for you yes all the time

  • Looks good Mamma. Im from Norfolk, VA and all I do is fish and throw fish frys. I use mostly seafood breader with a lil bit of flour. That way all my fish, shrimp, and fried crabs come out a lil darker golden brown. Keep up the good work.

  • those shrimps must be overcooked by now

  • damn y so much damn salt

  • that looks soooo good, but yea you should try it the curry shrimps the jamaican way. it's easier, faster, and tastes reallllly good.

  • WA'LA!!!! LMAOOOOOO GURL ITS V-O-I-L-A

who cooks shrimp for more than 15mins????

  • Ateya you would never know that you didn't know how to cook. You go!! :)

  • My Ateeya I love you, but theres just one problem, that curry cube is all wrong. if you want real curry like in the carribbean(jamaican) Betapac is the best i've experience so far. I dunno if they have it where you live. But please no more brick curry. peace and love.

  • that look sooooooooo gud, imma try that thnx.......

  • I'm going to try that! I'm not a curry fan, but it looks really good. Thanks!

  • That's looks really good Ateya! I'm a great cook myself, but I think I'm going to try the Shrimp curry tonight and I love Tony's C. seasonings. Thanks for using Heinz ketchup! I'm a Pittsburgher and Heinz is made and was invented in Pittsburgh! I'm going to get me a bottle of that wine!!

  • That salt is a killer.

  • Aside from the cooking i love this look. Her natural hair is beautiful

  • haha how funny heinz ketchup is a german product it's cool that you use it in america!! :) yaay for germany!!

  • @LuvToComment Heinz is not a German product it was started in Pittsburgh PA (that's where I'm from) but the Heinz family have several divisions of Heinz around the world Germany being one, Canada, United Kingdom, etc. u can google that...but the main headquarters and factory is in Pittsburgh...Go Steelers!!

  • to get your curry gravy thick u have to add potatoes with onions chopped pepper a little garlic powder or chopped garlic for flavor, not so much water. gravy first then cook the shrimp in cuz shrimp cooks fast. n use curry powder its official. jamaicas choice or whatever curry powder they have out there in your grocery stores seasoning isle

  • i agree with u

  • thanks for the info,,,u sound like the rapper trina a lil

  • damn girl u so sexy i wish u could cook for me every day!

  • lol i kinda get wat u mean...there's definitely a difference between the kind of curry carribeans use and the kind that ppl from the middle east use..soo...thats all i'm gonna say lol

  • you right because i dont get it..their seasoning is so loud it will blow your nose wide open...girrl so strong before i can even smell it my stomach react to it and im gagging and throwing up..thats why my husband and i had to move from florida because i was always sick..then we move to texas..i love texas...

  • The curry that this lovely lady is using is Japanese..

  • That looks so good!!

  • Just to let you know how we Jamaicans cook curry.

You will hot the butter then you add the curry powder, let the curry fry for about 20sec then you add the shrimps the butter oil will be looking like curry and that will let the curry set into the shrimps, you do not want your shrimps to look white. if you try that your curry shrimp will look and taste good too. I know what you are cooking must taste good, but I am asking you to try it this way.

    From Jamaica DAINTYVJ

  • daintyvj, yep that's how i prepare mine too. I'm not jamaican, but i have lots of caribbean friends that taught me this way and it turns out with sooo much more flavor by adding the curry to the butter first .. good tip

  • sorry for giving u a thumb down ment to do a thumb up

  • @daintyvj well jus work it girl. to hell w d turkeys.

  • @daintyvj Thats how I know it's done...

  • lol ur like me i can never just throw food on a plate and eat it it has to be all pretty and everything...

  • does anyone have any tips on how to make your rice like not mushy... I don't know if it's the type but it's just plain white rice but it never comes out fluffy like the chinnese resturants =/

  • If you are using regular long grain, Rinse the starch off the dry rice.

  • Restaurants use rice cookers.

  • I'd bet you're from Louisiana: you've got that patois. I have a neighbor from the NO area---you remind me of her.

    Good recipe!

  • shes from texas, its pretty close to lousiana though

  • lol yeah i'm from jamaica. =)

  • tip for having separated grains of rice..when cooking add drop of canola /olive oil to water. When you finish cooking rice, take top off pot and place two to three paper towels on top of pot, replace top. Steam will draw into towels and rice will separate. That's how my grandma used to cook rice. This also works with a brown paper bag cut up and placed over pot. I also use to work for a Chinese boss and he gave me some great tips! A rice cooker can be bought for $10. Set it and forget it!

  • thanks for the tip...i will try it. BTW i meant to give it a thumbs up, not a thumbs down

  • Comment removed

  • lol your very funny and i love the way you cook, but i think if you add onion, potatos, & carrot to tat curry it be better ;D.

  • Girl I love your videos, very informative and entertaining keep doing your thang

  • where are you from, because you have a accent?

  • Never had that curry before. I need to try it. Does that taste anything like Jamaican Curry?

  • oops just watched a vid. youre not married...some cats would be intimidated by you....thats a compliment...Good presentation is EVERYTHING...youre a Foodnetwork fan I see..so you know that..

    Peace and Blessings Zoe

  • YOU seem like a good wife and mother

  • nice ponytail!

  • Another great video girl. Keep the food ones coming. LOL I really enjoy them.

  • Hey girl, great vid! You're vid are fun to watch, not to mention you're hilarious as heck. I normally do a lot of curry dishes and what I usually put in my curry is a can of coconut. It gives it that authentic curry flavor and taste so much better. Next time you do curry dishes try adding a can of coconut to it and see how you like it. You can normally buy coconut cans at any asian stores or pretty much at your asian grocery aisle. Good luck and have fun making more dishes!

  • Hey ateyya you inspired me to make this dish and i loved it. Only thing i got the mild instead of hot and it wasnt hot enougn i had to had cayeene pepper. next time i will buy the hot

  • hey girl I be doing the same thing. I do not know how to cook but i watch the cooking shows and be watching them and I be cooking for my guy and he seems to like everything I tell you paula dean is the one i love to watch cook

  • i like how your channel is versatile, you do hair, makeup, and cooking..the only thing i would recommend is to season the shrimp with the curry first..and curry powder would probably be better than the sticks you were using, also curry isn't supposed to be that watery & you can add seasonings like onions and escallion or green onion to add some more flavour :)

  • Hi, Ateyaa...you are awesome...I love watching your vids...the cooking ones are my favorite, but everything I see from you is so informational and fun. Keep up the good work! Try Jasmine Rice with this dish and you will love it...

  • great video.

  • Is their anything that you cannot do...you went from hair to cooking! You go girl!

  • What curry was that she was using? I am makin that this week.

PS. I'm sure you will show up on tv one day doin something. If no one hires you then they will miss out. C Ya Ms. T

  • You cook too ?? I thought you only did makeup. I need some Ateya food !

    Ms. Spanish

  • girl..u hooked that up!

  • girl > you need to be on the food network.

  • In these hard economic times, you show how easy it is to eat good at home. The shrimp curry would be good with some cut up potatoes and carrots. Also, that curry would be great as sauce over some deep fried chicken cutlets, or what the Japanese call chicken katsu.

  • Ateya.....you did a good job, my hats off to you. However, it only takes 3-5 mins to fully cook shrimp, when they over cooked they get rubbery. If i may advise, why dont you start the curry first & then add the shrimp when you get the curry to the consistancy youre looking for?

    Thanks

  • girl, Ateya you need to be on the food network, you can really cook and you have so much personality......you're so positive and upbeat God bless you :)

  • Hint the next time you cook curry put your oil first then the curry cook the curry a little till its a little darker add your meat. to help curry thicken faster add some cut up potatoes cook on low. lol wa'la lol

  • Somebody get Food Network on the phone!!! LOL Really enjoyed this one and I love the little bloopers as well! And If yall didn't know, us women from the south can burn!!

  • I see what you're saying badazzbarbi, but I think the bags do absorb the water b/c when she poured the rice in the strainer not alot of water poured out. I'm not sure b/c i don't use that kind of rice.

  • girl i dont get y u put butter if ur using bagged rice lol, does it sink threw the bags or somthing?

  • The bag has holes in it, so it does still get to the rice.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • u r making me hungry. lol. i want some of yo food.lol jk

  • U cook like Paula Deen using so much butter.

  • lol

  • I think Paula is one of her inspirations... the house season she has listed is one of Paula Dean's recipes... she states it in another video.

  • Hey Ateyaaa, This recipe was the bomb! I made it for my 24 yr son, he loved, loved it! It was so simple. I am not kidding it was so good it had the taste of a 5 star resturaunt meal. I also prepared the fried shrimp to accompany the curry, served with a fresh green salad superb! Thanks so much for sharing! I love your videos! I am a hair care, new wig wearer to protect my hair, die hard make-up beat my face girl from way back! You are just adorable! Keep the videos coming! We love them!

  • That was awsome! I will definately try that recipe.

  • Lov the pot set!!!! Did ya Camera person get some of your slamin food? lol

  • Just do the shrimp until they are good and pink....they were good not rubbery at all. Also depends on the heat. Mines was on medium heat

  • damn im hungry

  • i love u

  • I wanted to say thanks to you for this video, I love shrimp. I cooked this for my new years eve meal. My family loved it. Big ups for the bag rice. I think i just feel in love with that. Happy New year Ateyaaa

  • Ateyaaa - The food looks good. I'm a Red Lobster regulaR. Here's a tip for the curry shrimp try adding a few pieces of potatoes chop them as if your going to put them in potatp salad. The potatoes helps make the gravy thicken faster. When the shrimps are finished you can throw some of that curry potatoes on your rice and girl ummmmmmmm good.

    BROOKLYN,NY DIVA 12/30/08

  • this all looks soo good but the curried shrimps I think are overcooked,

  • I was wondering about that. How long are shrimps suppose to be cooked? This seemed long and might come out rubbery. Oh well, thanks for the hair video Ateya!

  • they are. The key to good shrimp is to not over cook. I'd get the sauce going first, then add the shrimp... shrimp cooks very fast.

  • My family decided on something different this year. We had fish and shrimp for Christmas this year. I made the shrimp curry and fried jumbo shrimp and it was great. The Shrimp curry sauce is great. I would have never tried this if you would not have done this video. Thanks
