  • Kentland is a bunch of jackasses. Everything they do is unsafe. Do some research on them.

  • @VolFireFighter34 It is a shame that you would say something like that. We, along with everyone in PG county do our jobs aggressively, but we do our jobs right. We put the fire out, and rescue anyone in danger. You are completely wrong to say that everything we do is unsafe. No disrespect to any other firefighters out there, put that is just the way things are done in PG county. Have a tremendous day

  • Had you been employed with our dept you would have lost your driving privilages and been facing a disiplinary inquiry and possible termination. Way too fast in the intersections and had that car stopped suddenly in the last intersection you would have collided.

  • I dont see anything wrong here. If you know the area and watch video, the first red light it was a Left turn only and they came up on the right side of landover rd. No reason to slow down if you have a Full view of the road left to right, And the sec red light they did slow down.

  • While I do appreciate the fact that the driver is situationally aware of his surroundings and is constantly checking his mirrors, the fact that the operator did not even appear to slow the vehicle when approaching the red signals at 0:48 and 1:49 is extremely scary and could have resulted in an accident that could have had injuries or death.

  • Not really going to dog the driving. I've lived in the DC area...PG county specifically in Landover/ Capital hts. While yes, they should drive on the left, because drivers are told to pull to the right, but if you've ever driven in DC area traffic....most don't yield anyway, they just slow down or stop in the travel lanes. I've seen Kentland and various other PGVFD in action and i gotta give them props on their driving/EVOC. But i will say..safety works on both ends..drivers and operators.

  • Does anyone realize that when he is "looking away", he is mostly checking his mirrors

  • look at the road DUMBASS

  • @InfernusClan dumbass its called checking your meriorrs... its not like hes looking off for 20 min hes just glancing in his meriorr....

  • Waaaay too fast through red lights, plus you never go to the right of traffic when running code, you always stay left... What do you tell a motorist to do when they see emergency vehicle? Pull to the right.. you'd be surprised at how many do this without looking to the right.. This guy was wreckless.. sorry just how it is.

  • thats what lights and sirens are for if you cant hear or see the big colored truck coming your, well your simply oblivious and shouldn't be aloud to drive

  • haha why does everyone bitch for fast driving? seriously.. the driver obviously knows what hes doing.. fine driving if u ask me

  • Arrive Alive!!

  • wow he blasted through some red lights. I can see an accident happening

  • There is no need for that. No matter how big a fire is or how sever an accident is, there is NO reason to endanger the lives of the general public like that. I completely agree that typically the "general public" make very bad decisions when it comes to emergency vehicles, but we as first responders need to account for that. We're no good if the truck crashes and kills a family on their way somewhere because "we" ran a red light, even code 3 lights and sirens. Ignorance kills innocent people .

  • Their driving, all I have to say is welcome to PG county MD. You can't stop and wait to clear and intersection, cars don't stop for emergency equipment here. Come down and drive just inside or outside our beltway, you will see what I mean. Props to the operator, that is one hell of a job there.

  • love the powercall and q!

  • 2:58 = Holy cross traffic.

  • 1:50 ....yikes.

  • If this is how kentland is , actions , other driving, and actions. There trash. Thats all i got to say.

  • and how many accidents have kentland gotten into. myself and everyone that i have asked have only heard of 1, when they rolled the tower. I see other departments rolling tankers and having rigs collide en-route, and they dont catch flak.

  • This is criminal, I can appreciate how many calls they run but look how many times a 60mph intersection bust happened, hope the rear seats face backwards in that tower so nobody else sees whats coming

  • The call was a natural gas odor... not immediately life threatening and completely unnecessary to drive like this. I can understand answering the call as quickly as possible, but he should be showing some more caution blowing lights like that.

  • It's still life- threatening, so wouldn't that warrant his driving?

  • I will agree with life threatning, but with driving like this, is it worth hurting the crew, civilians, damaging the truck, etc...

Yes it is an emergency, as I stated, I agree, but pay attention to the road. Some people still can't hear or see the truck

  • Your comment is gay. What is there to feel sorry about?

  • Im gonna quote my cousins, who drove the ladder truck when he was on the fire dept. "If you get the front end there, the ass end will follow."

  • What a fucking tool bag!! If he looked in front of him more than to the side..........

  • evoc , and then u smile when u almost hit the car, your chief should watch this video.

  • The driver is actually the chief

  • RIGHT

  • guess they didnt teach him not to blow intersections and pass on the right...if he would have hit a car it would have been a no contest lawsuit

  • This is absolutely the worst driving I have ever seen not slowing down for intersections. Just because your on the horn doesnt mean people will stop right away this type of driving is why people have been killed over the past couple of years

  • This is worst driving I have ever seen not slowing down for intersections.

BEFORE YOU GO IN A intersection you MUST have CONTRAL of the intersection.

  • Holy crap! That is not how you drive a fire truck. Passing cars on the right, blowing red lights!? He is asking to kill someone.

  • haha this TOWER looks like a BC on the road

  • yeah i wonder why there was a close call. it seems getting to a fire is more important then the lives of firefighters and other drivers

  • Must have been the same driver that got NAILED by Ocean City Police for speeding, etc during fire convention week.

  • At least that statie that they passed would have been first on scene for these guys plowing into that sedan if they'd have gone through that intersection a second-and-a-half-later. I admit it sure looks like they're having fun blowing through EVERY single red without hardly even slowing, but what good is a fast response (especially one, that with all the highway driving looks to be out of your first-due area)if it ends with a TA that puts the piece out of service?

  • In most states it's called VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER. EMTs and FFs all over the country are going to prison for killing innocent people driving like this.

Kentland has a great reputation but this video shoots that in the ass.

I can't believe ANYONE from that department would condone this public display of idiotic behavior.

SLOW DOWN...STAY LEFT...AND KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD!!!

    (BTW...no whacking here...FF/Paramedic...27 years)

  • This is plainly and simply (not ot mention CLEARLY) reckless operation of an appartus. Not only does the engineer recklessly run red lights at speed, but he is constantly speaking with whomever is in the officer's seat and diverting his eyes from the roadway. Any engineer in my department would be sidelined for this. Thankfully, this engineer didnt hit, hurt or kill anyone.

(No whacking here, either: Chief of an ISO 1-rated career department with 33 years on the job)

  • This kind of driving would get you immediately removed from my department.

What if in that split second that the operator was looking at the officer a van full of family couldn't get out of the way fast enough?? In a blink of an eye you could wipe out an entire family.

  • @kevinsilverado that split second of him lookin over is him checking his meroirr and how is his driving bad he did just fine

  • @kevinsilverado yea if they jumped the median..in that case their fault so gtfo

  • @kevinsilverado ya and in tthe same time a meteor could hit a mentaly disabled school but can you do anything about that....no you cant!

Keep the AWESOME work up guys

    keep Finishing what others can't

  • Nice driving skills next time STOP at Red Lights.

  • Kentland is a fine orgaization with a very dedicated group of members. Anyone who folows the fire service knows this....BUT the driver in this video did make some mistakes that need to be corrected:

1: stop talking to you officer and looking at him

2: slow WAY down at intersections and even stop which is the safest thing to do

3: pass on the left always - we tell drivers to pull to the right so never pass them there.

Remember: It was this company a few years ago that rolled this very rig.

  • Kentland has a rather large following ONLINE. Unfortunately those who know Kentland's operations and behaviors have a far lessor opinion of them. I dont personally know anyone from Kentland, but I meet fellow IAFC members all the time that do and that also work with them in Prince George's County and Metro DC.

  • This is one of the best videos I have found on Youtube of how NOT to drive an emergency vehicle. To slow down and come to a full stop would only have added about 30 to 45 seconds to the response and could in the end prevent a meager accident. If you get in to even a minor accident you are going to add a lot more then 45 seconds on to your response. Stay Safe and stop on red!

  • Ahhhhh Powercall

  • For us, we just stop for a second and then we have right away, because we have to cross an interstate a lot.

  • This video should be used as how not to drive! Blowing 3 red lights, stupid!

  • 1:20 LOL

  • Wow, all I can say, if you drive like that at my dept. you wont be driving again. RED means stop.

  • yes ur right yellow means slow down n red means stop

  • do you have any freaking common sense?!?! RED MEANS slow down

  • I thought yellow means slow down and red means stop??

  • that's what I meant...it's late. no clue what I was thinking. my bad

  • haha no worries... just had to bust your balls on that one.

  • ha i deserved it...either way...i think we can all agree that this guy drives like a maniac and should not be able to

    just throwing that out there

  • @smk3429 if he would keep his eyes on the road

  • yeah they were going a bit fast however the motorist should yield when emergency vehicles are coming thru not try to out run them, thats like playin with fire you will get burned. i know if i see i huge fire struck coming from a distance im not taking any chances i will pull over a head of time.both parties were wrong so lets not just critisize one half

  • im a fireman that responds to the scene so if i see a chief vehicle or truck coming behind me ill block off an intersection and ill tail the rig to the scene

  • agree 100%

  • I was going to post a comment about the lack of "due regard" that the engineer showed, but, it looks like everyone else already covered it... You are an idiot... An Accident waiting to happen

  • I serve as a VFF-Sergeant & CFF-FF/EMT&Driver/Operator. If I ever drove like this the least that would happen is they would pull my Engineer's ticket. Most likely I would no longer be a FF! DUE REGARD! LEFT SIDE! STOP @ REDLIGHTS! SLOW DOWN @ INTERSECTIONS! WE ARE ASKING FOR THE RIGHT OF WAY. Our Safety Officer emailed the whole department the video link for comment. My comments...SLOW DOWN B4 YOU KILL SOMEONE! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF YOUR LOVED ONES WERE ON THE SAME ROAD AS THIS CREW DRIVING?

  • I live in St. Louis and fire & rescue equipment always come to complete or near complete stops at red light intersections to ensure that inattentive idiot commuters yield. I can't believe how fast these guys go through red lights and take turns. Missour Highway Patrol does drive aggressively. I have seen them pass cars on the inside shoulders of highways at near 100 mph without missing a beat but they drive cars not huge trucks. Take some time and be safe

  • haha i like how they point out the cop car and step on it(Q).

  • This is where vid can get someone in trouble. If you notice the driver he's all ways looking to his right, talking to someone. When you drive and come to an intersection you should look to the left cause that's where the problem is going to be.

  • unless you've been up there, on the rigs, in the area, it is tough to judge the drivers.

    keep that in mind.

  • I did see th close call at the end. But Unfortunately when you aren't using due regard through the first four intersections you should expect that sooner or later there is going to be a close call or an accident. Stop at red lights and insure the intersection is clear instead of blowing through at 30mph and blaming the other drivers.

  • Arnt people suposto pull over for a firetruck? They are here in Oregon, Even if youre in the far left lane. And deffinatly not suposto inter an intersection. That's why here in Salem atleast, the traffic lights are radio contoled, They will turn red in all directions when a fire truck, police car, ambulance, ect. Aproches the intersction with it's siren on.

  • Basic grammar my man,damn!

  • It got the point across didn't It? So long as you can still read it, the message is all that matters.

  • Poor driving pracices. The officer is just as accountible as the driver.

  • I agree

  • First things first, To all those who are bashing volunteers.... Remember where you came from and 80% of the US is served by your so called "vollys" The driver of the tower should have slowed to almost a stop at that light other than that ok driving. Also remember we can NOT see what was off camera.

  • we arent bashing vollies. the vollies i know are cool. were bashing fkning kentland.

  • Why are you bashing kentland?

  • fist off i am not bashing all volunteers, i started as a volunteer. volunteers are trained and dedicated people, what i am bashing are "vollys" who dont care about the fire service are unsafe, going to get someone killed and just treat the job like a social club with no respect for it, that the difference

  • I did not say you. if you were bashing then it was for you.

  • Kentland sucks, learn to drive a firetruck dumbass

  • wow, this has turned into quite the anti-33 page. And Im sure you guys run more jobs too, right???

  • yes volly i do, the driving i saw in this clip and the response from all these hilljack volly dumbasses explain why so many firefighter die in accident every year

  • i love goin 2 calls on highways, the fastest my truck has gone is like 75 , this guys a good driver to ^

  • thats not a close call

  • the close call that is being refered to is at 2:59... bustin a redlight.

  • Where was the close call?

  • Thats a good example of driving like absolute dumbasses...

  • Wasn't it Kentland Tower 33 I saw on its side not more than a couple of years ago? HMMMMM, I wonder why?

  • exactly!

  • Wheres the close call? Every FD blows red lights like that, mine included. They slowed down enough to let the cars halfway through through, and the left lane next to them was clear, so, hows it a close call? No one even reacted to it ...

  • I agree, I didn't see the close call either, but regardless, they definietly are not using due regard.

  • You didn't see that white car at the very end cut right infront of the firetruck at the intersection?

  • That was close and you are dumb asses. Don't create another accident when responding to a most likely false alarm fire call.

  • IF YOU SCARED SAY YOU SCARED

  • typical kentland, thinking they are the gods of firefighters.

  • They were barely slowing down for the intersections. They should have slowed for the greens and markedly slowed and been prepared to stop for the red intersections. How much does that tower truck weigh? My guess is around 24 tons. You can put all the foofoo lights and sirens on you want. You can't break the laws of physics. That driver was not driving with due regard for the safety of everyone else, which is the standard of care in the fire service.

  • Sorry guys and gals but running those reds is a good way to do one of two things. Kill or injure your crew or make your department look like a bunch of asses when you kill or injure a member of the public not to mention getting into a lawsuit that just makes matters worse. I am not putting down this department because I have alot of respect for them but keep in mind that you can't help anyone if you never make it to the scene. We should be a problem solver not a problem maker! Be Safe!!!!!!!

  • i know were all guilty of not stoping at intersections but hey those dumbass's shouldnt be still going through the intersection when they see us coming

  • no opticoms? they would help.

  • Ditto- opticoms are the bomb

  • Wasn't even close

  • jsnasselin it wasn't even that close of a call, so get over it. Don't be dissen departments that run 25+ calls a day, I think they know what they're doin (just a little).

  • Does not matter how many calls a day, year, month they do. it only takes one time to hit someone and kill or hurt innocent lives and fellow brothers. Not sure about them but in my city, we have a standing order direct from the chief, that you will STOP AT ALL INTERSECTIONS. does not matter what color the light is. any disobeying of this order is immediate termination from dept. no questions asked, and yes we are a volly dept that runs over 1500 fire calls a year.

  • I agree with your 1st paragraph, but why in the world would u stop at EVERY intersection, even when it's green? That's idiotic to me. If a civilian blows a red light, that's their fault, not yours. I've heard this from a Fire Capt. in my dept (scary thought)as well, and it worries me that there are firefighters out there that don't even have a sense of urgency.

  • I did not say stop at every intersection. Why do u guys hate kentland?

  • My mistake. I thot u meant all intersections. I don't hate Kentland, I just think they are really arrogant. There's a big difference between Company pride, and plain arrogance. The House of Pain runs their ass off too, but you don't hear them making the comments that Kentland makes.

  • Oh yeah, Kentlad and their 25 runs a day. BFD... they're still a bunch of 'tards.

  • Wouldn't have been a close call had you stopped at the red light like you are supposed to do...

  • do you know how many departments are guilty of running reds? i'd say pretty much all of them.
