  • Wayne neither originated nor owns this technique .In his book he even says he saw a Vent called Dennis Spicer who inspired his routine.

I am surprised Jeff used the same lines " Im not ..well I am " but other vents who are doing the same routine (I suspect) a lot longer use very identical lines (Search "David Copperfield comedian")

Given his books are full of Jokes with no credits given, it begs the question did Wayne come up with the jokes in the vent routine in the first place ?

  • Apparently also Eugene Burger has a spongeball routine using squeaking on one of his DVDs!

  • There is no such thing as bad publicity.

  • Jeff fanboys are running wild.

  • Regarding the colorchanging shoelace: I've had it on almost every kid show i've done for the last few years, and it gets great reactions from the kids! Just the perfect trick where they think they've got you - and then BAM - they didn't know it anyhow.

Worker of the week - i totally agree!

Try it out! it's worth it!!!

  • @epiphyticsab @KingOfNynex2003 @oscarmelendezweb I heard it as: "No, we must have it wrong. Jeff and Wayne have (already) got on the phone you know, and (Wayne) said 'Yeah sure, that's OK. You can do it'. I'm surprised they wouldn't have. So we rang up Wayne..."

  • @KingOfNynex2003 Sorry, forgot to hit the 'sarcastic' button.

  • 1) Although magicians say want honest reviews, and opinions, comments like are being made here prove they only want selective honesty.

    2) Jeff has a tremendous amount of positive things for magic, but is HUMAN!!

    3) My first year Tannen's Magic Campers know that if something is just performed on a video, and not taught, (which is common practice on many videos, especially L&L which puts out some of Jeff's), it does not give you the right to perform it.

    4) Let them work it out and wait to see

  • oooooeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww handbags...controversy on the wizard product review haha

  • In my opinion Jeff has even improved on the vent bit, since he instant stooges the audience, via the mic technique with the wand. It's brilliant. But basing a review on a piece of it was stupid in my opinion as the DVD was about the Squeeking technique and not the vent piece.

  • Hi guys....i use the colour changing shoe laces in my kids and adult shows....and with a good story/routine it is a great bit of magic and gets great response from both sets of audiences....don't smirk boys but this is a fun and uncomplicated bit of visual magic and i would recommend it highly...worker of the week...i agree...you just didn't seem to take it seriously guys....too many card tricks i guess...please review more kids show stuff.

  • I know Wayne is in a very difficult position as he has sold the performance rights to his routine to one individual performer, for exclusive use in Las Vegas.

As soon as I hear from Wayne and Jeff that the situation is resolved we will be happy to rate the DVD as usual and comment on this matter further.

    Regards

    David Penn

  • @worldmagicshop No one cares about your rating his dvd, you owe Jeff an apology for the verbal assault and insult to his character.

  • I spoke to Wayne about this yesterday at some length and also spoke to Jeff for over an hour this morning. Jeff has already in the process of discussing the matter with Wayne and the two of them are trying to reach an amicable outcome. Jeff has also told me that he will be continuing to discuss the matter later today when Wayne is available.

  • McBride/Dobson -

Fake controversy to hike the ratings/provoke discussion - should have contacted McBride before going off half cocked.

  • Bad form Mcbride, I'll be clearing out my card manipulation tapes & buying some Dobson stuff to fill teh shelf space.

  • @russpie Don't jump to conclusion~ Jeff didn't do anything I wouldn't clear a thing He is still Jeff McBride ~

  • @Jaysink1 I agree they should have contacted Jeff & put him in touch with Wayne & that it probably got more viewings because of this however, try & look at it from Wayne's point of view. The routine he's best known for being used badly & for free is not good. Although i'm half expecting Shaun Farquar to turn up & claim it as his own next.

  • @russpie I'm friends with Shawn and I know for a fact that he would never claim it as his own, what ever happened to equal rights for everyone? We're all in the same Brotherhood here.

  • Way to overreact, Craig. You're such a drama queen.

As expected, the situation turned out to be a misunderstanding between friends that was able to be cordially resolved.

David and Craig: You guys need to stick more to reviewing the value and practicality of products and less about policing the ethics of new releases.

  • You two are pathetic guys, please stop doing Magic, do something else....

  • @warmandrunny for your information Jeff was asked to perform in Mindfreak because of his vast knowledge and experience in magical history. As far as fact are fact "Bitches" Fact is Wayne and Jeff are cool they have spoken and Jeff is making money and earned a name for himself ~ no one knows you yet! Don't let them find out your not cool before you try to make a name for yourself!

  • I'VE SAID IT BEFORE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN.

CRAIG AND PETTY ARE THE "BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD OF MAGIC"

APOLOGIZE NOW AND REMOVE THE VIDEO SEGMENT PROMPTLY.

YOU AREN'T DOING A VERY GOOD JOB OF REPRESENTING MY

    ENGLISH MATES!

    ~DEVIOUS

  • The color changing shoelaces was invented by Tom McCormick and I believe that David Ginn has the manufacturing rights. In other words, that looks like a knock-off version.

  • No No...I agree with Craig and David here. If Jeff did not check with Wayne first I think what he did was wrong. It's not like Jeff just used Wayne's Idea for a squeak here and there during a performance which would have been ok....He Marketed A DVD and gimmick from Wayne's idea to make money....... And oh..Jeff...It's not like you just performed it.....You marketed a dvd on Wayne's creative idea. Wait....Did you say that you cleared it up with him afterwards? I think I would have asked first

And oh..Jeff...It's not like you just performed it.....You marketed a dvd on Wayne's creative idea. Wait....Did you say that you cleared it up with him afterwards? Again...WTF

  • Holy cats! That stuff about Jeff McBride was a bit stuff, wasn't it? I mean, I understand what you're saying, but... Wow!

  • Why the hell didn't you contact Jeff as you did with Wayne before shooting this! That shows your lock of respect, not only to Jeff, but to us as well. Calling Jeff a thief is just too much. It is innecesarily offensive and you dont have that right. It seems like if you just dont realize the responsibilty you have in your hands when you upload your reviews. You need to take this seriously if you really care the audience you have. Many of us are really disappointed with your lack of respect and I

  • @oscarmelendezweb you know at around 19:24 they say they contacted Jeff right?

  • @KingOfNynex2003 No, they did NOT contact Jeff when this video was shot. If they did there would never had been this most unneeded mess.

  • @epiphyticsab skip to 19:24 of the video, these are their words, "No we must have got it wrong, so we called JEFF AND WAYNE and we got on the phone and he said" "yeah sure it's ok."

  • You guys should have contacted Jeff McBride prior to this review. Bringing someone's integrity into question prior to having all the facts is a shotty way to do business.

  • I'm not too sure about the commonly understood protocol, but I would assume unless otherwise stated that Jeff was technically correct in doing what he did. I'm glad to see that he has worked it out with Wayne, but I think on any additional copies of the DVD produced, there should be something added more clearly crediting/apologizing to Wayne. I think and hope it was an honest mistake. Saw Jeff perform at the age of 4, which inspired me to become a magician. He is the reason I'm where I am now.

  • It should be pronounced Prodigy or Progidy?

  • To present all of this information before having all of the facts is really doing a disservice to magic and Jeff McBride. Jeff McBride's reputation is simply impeccable and he deserves more than this. This is an issue for Jeff and Wayne to resolve in private. I know that this will be done and that it will be determined that it was an innocent misunderstanding. I have the utmost respect for Jeff McBride and zero respect for the World Magic Shop. What a couple of wankers.

  • Jeff McBride here: Protocol says that when a performer releases a teaching DVD, the material on it is available to be performed unless stated otherwise. Wayne didn't state that the vent piece on the FOURSEEN DVDs wasn't t to be performed, so I assumed it was part of the presentation. I do credit Wayne at the end of my DVD. I've spoken to Wayne & we've cleared it up; he is not mad at me. I'm waiting to hear back from the Wizards; I'd like to see the review removed or re-done. With respect, J.

  • @AbigailMcBride, Hey Jeff, I think the issue here is that you didn't contact Wayne BEFORE you released the DVD. I'm assuming that this was an oversight on your part, but you still made this bad decision and I don't think the review should be removed. Considering the information put in front of them, Craig and David dealt with your product in a more than fair manner. Hey, we all makes mistakes and we all have to learn to live with them.

    Yours respectfully,

    Marty

  • @AbigailMcBride i highly doubt you are "the" jeff mcbride, you have one subscriber and no one has watched any of your videos, zero!!! nadda!! ziltch! please dont pretend to be someone you are not!!!

  • @jobyng - I'm Jeff's wife. Have a nice day.

  • Always coca cola.

  • Nice, Blamo came out of a full yawn to bark for the treat.

  • It is not in mcbrides nature to intentionally rip off another artist I would most definitely have to see tape to make an informed judgement but my suspicion is you guys were being too harsh

  • English ventriloquist doing the same thing as a whole act. /watch?v=htU6qYsLsEE&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL5537C4A0FEFCEBAF

  • Still can't believe this... having the rights on a joke... lol

  • Are you serious about the vent piece?? It's just a piece from an incredible routine by Jeff. I have seen it life and it's brilliant. The vent piece I am sure has been done countless times before even Wayne Dobson! These are things that hinder magic!

  • gone to the dogs

  • go blamo

  • When is Wizard FX going to be updated?

  • The only think shocking about the Jeff McBride DVD revelation is Craig's hammy acting... again.

  • Great Show this week!

  • More than a bit harsh with the Jeff McBride segment! The way you attack him after lifting him up is really in poor taste! Has Mr. Dobson seen Jeff's video? Let the viewers look up the videos of Jeff McBride as Bravo and Wayne Dobson, Jeff is far from Wayne's act. You sat there idolizing his work, his history, he is your hero, he is brilliant, then you have no respect for him!

He is still Jeff McBride and does more to lift up other magicians and magic than most! "It's more important to be nice"!

  • That color changing shoelace is reaaallly coool!

  • I KNEW MIRAGE WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

  • Mirage very nice

  • Guys I sent a message to Jeff and I'm hoping he'll clear things up with you guys and especially with Wayne, I have huge respect for both Wayne and Jeff but I'm hoping this is all a big misunderstanding, if Jeff did blatantly steal Wayne's act then he should stop production of that DVD and and stop using that act until he can get the performance rights to perform Wayne's act.

  • why didn t you contact jeff as well?

  • Very surprised at this... Almost makes me loose faith in an already dying art. I really hope this was a huge mis-understanding.

  • Why are you selling Squeak Technique if you feel this way about the product? I wouldn't sell it!

  • forget Mc squeaker more Mc thiefer

  • Bit shocked about the whole Jeff McBride situation... hopefully it's just a misunderstanding of the sorts.

  • Thanks :)

  • Today's a special show, its my birthday! Glad its 12 o'clock on a Wednesday!

    Thanks guys!
