  • Hope erik buell racing creates a lineup of new bikes for the street soon. His new race bike looks promising.

  • proud to have a dad wich has the ulysses and xb12sx

  • The motors tv Stig likes to chasing cows...

  • R.I.P. Buell

  • I had a firebolt 2005 for one year. I had fun with it even it was my first bike. But had to sell it and I was getting very upset and disappointed every time I walk in the local HD dealer and can't find even the smallest parts liek fuse carrier and battery. They keep remiding you again and again that the company stopped supporting Buells. I have to say it's heavy and rugged. Feels safer to drive than japanese bikes.

  • Bught my 2008 in nov 2007.. love it ! limited though. had it tuned at JT&S at infineon. custom map micron exhaust and of course the K&N aitfilter.. have had only one issue that i took it to HD for as it was warranty. small oil leak at the 3 piece valve cover

  • i'll tell ya this, folks. i am 57 and have been riding for 45 years now, both on and off road. i own 2 buells..a 2007 city X and a 2004 firebolt, both XB9R models. these are some of the most fun motorcycles i've ever owned. easy to maintain, reliable, rugged, great MPG, dirt cheap parts, have tons of character and a bit of rarity as well. dumping the buell division was clearly one of the stupidest business decisions the drones at H-D ever made.....ever. guess H-D doesn't need new young customers

  • Why completely dismantle the company? Terrible business move. They should of trimmed down the model line up and downsized. Shoulda kept the Lightning's, and the Firebolt's. Those had the Harley V-Twin, it would have been cost effective to keep those and make the company smaller. This way Harley would have at least 2 bikes to sell to young riders looking for an American badge. Its like cutting down a tree cause it has one dead branch, stupid. Now where do u go from here?

  • @MrTyronePimp Harley Davidson had a new guy come in and didnt like any of the racing line stuff of Buell and thought it was a waste of money for Harley, so he cut Buell altogether. Also, Buell outlets were only in Harley dealers, so you have to walk past all the leather jackets and fat gaudy chrome bags and sissy bars just to get to the Buell counter. Who wants to buy sports bikes from Harley dealers? not me! It was a bad marketing strategy that was never addressed properly by Harley Davidson.

  • @Blaylock1988 yea i get that part...but now Harley holds all of the Buell patents. Let Buell go be its own company, let it manufature and sell its bikes...scraping 35 years of work is stupid...Buell was the only American Sport bike it doesn't make sense. Luckily the engine for the 1125 was built by rotax so they can still make those...but Harley should release the patents and sell Buell the engines for the XB. The XB IMO was their most attractive model.

  • @Blaylock1988 I think Harley was pissed at Buell because they struck up a partnership with Rotax. Harley probably felt like they were being cheated, they said "Why are we selling an Austrian engine from an all American Harley dealership?". Buell was just trying to build a competitive bike and they couldn't do it with the Harley 1203cc V-Twin. Buell was all about pushing the limits of innovation, Harley is all about keeping tradition...I guess it was a union doomed from the beginning.

  • @MrTyronePimp BAHAHAHA, why is harley casting engines in an indian plant now? That's a heap of shit excuse to get rid of buell and for doing that harley WILL FALL. buell had more technology than harley had in the past 50 years!

  • @MrTyronePimp and i agree about buell wanting to be competitive. YOU DON'T restrict ideas on making a sports bike! function matters most over all and thats one thing harley seems not to realize.

  • @Blaylock1988 I would like to say that cutting Buell was a move by Harley to save money, but then why not release the patents for the XB and sell them the engines? It looks very spiteful from Harley's end. I feel like there was bad blood between them for a while, and in 2009 the political climate and economy allowed Harley to sever all their contractual obligations with Buell and bury them once and for all.

  • @MrTyronePimp Agreed. I am glad I got my XB9SX while I could. That dumb non-compete clause is stopping Eric from doing anything outside of the racing industry for 2 years. I can't wait to see what the new Buell company will come up with to replace the XB series.

  • @Blaylock1988 you speak of mr. wandell. this is what happens when you put a jew in charge of a motorcycle company.

  • The sound of the cooler is the "difference". I like it! :D

  • I miss mine.

  • I like Buell...and cows.

  • I hate british freaking accent

  • @sandis52 are you chinese or something

  • I love this intelligent British review. We usually don't see similar things on this side of the pond. INTERNET FTW!

  • Verdaderamente esta motocicleta tiene un gran estilo

  • i am just starting to ride a bike

and i want to have this as my first bike ... what do yu all think ..

can yu give me some opinions about whether i should get it or i shouldn’t...

  • @suwee75 simple answer: no!

longer answer: a 1000cc bike (which is basically what this is) is far, FAR too much for a beginner, no matter how mature or quick to learn you may think you are. 1) the bike will be heavy. makes tricky situations potentially fatal to an inexperienced rider. 2) the acceleration and power of the bike. this will out accelerate almost every car EVER MADE. that's not something you want to be wrestling with as a new rider. get a 250 and you'll thank me in 20 years.

  • @purklefluff thanks for this advice purklefluff. I started to ride a bike 2 years ago or so, i remember i was interested in this x9 then, but a friend told me it was way too physical and BRUTAL (torque) for me starting, so i started with a more gentle cb600. I tried a x9 more recently and had to admit my friend was right... but what a hell of a bike! Now that i've got bored with my cb600, i can start thinking on a x9 or ducati mostro.

  • 4:00 - 4:07 LOL

  • immo get me one soon...

  • @reddexred same here just gotta save up

  • bellixima

  • 4:20 I love the moment when the cow cleans the nose. So funny.

  • @CONDLAUR It`s the first time I ever saw that. Isn`t nature smart?!

  • @CONDLAUR That's because you are a city gay boy and never seen this before in live

  • @sandis52 For your knowing I live in the country side. Why are you so revolted, saying all those awful things? Really now, I think for you and for those which say frequently the word "gay", that you were mistreated by a a same genre person when you were little. Do you have sequels of that encounter?

Or you just wanted to say the word "guy" and did not spell it well?

  • whats up whith the background music. its like if u ride this bike it might be your funeral!?

  • Where can I test ride one of these in the UK (Hertfordshire)?

    Is maintenance expensive?

  • @rvh3 yes, very. its comparible to maintanence on a ferrari

  • @rvh3

nothing more exspenisive then any other bike, i have mine for 3 years now and only did a service once wich cost me 230 euros

  • think its exellent how buells use the frame to hold fuel, very clever idea

  • @sik1blud

    I don't understand.

  • Buell FTW

  • 0/10

  • You spelled Buell wrong...You utter cock.

  • Well Georgenfla, how ironic that you should post all your crap precisely on this video which evaluates the Buell. They actually ride it and analyze it and like it. You must be another one of those 13 year olds flexing anorexic muscles on Youtube...such a pain to put up with.

  • If you could spell, people who take what you say more seriously.

  • Apparently you are one of the only people to think so...

    Harley Davidson is discontinuing Buell.

  • Healthchunkie has a video of his victory bike not running..comment and rating are disabled. LOSER!!

  • hahaha

  • Why you looking at harleys and beull videos when you have the metric polaris bike?

  • Buell dominated the AMA this year.

    Suck my dick.

  • 1) No bike (except enduros) handles better than a Buell

    2) The Buell has a brutal acceleration just not the high speed of a 4 race bike (it's a naked bike).

But from 0-60 it will out accelerate almost everything!

    3) The brakes on the Buell are top notch

    4) Ugly? It's subjective

    5) Over priced? $9000 for a 1000cc V2 is overpriced?

You should get your facts straight before commenting on things your obviously are totally ignorant about.

  • RIP BUELL...........=-(

  • Has anyone ridden a 08 CBR 1000RR and a Buell? I am about to ride a 1000RR and may get it since it NEWand only $6999. About 170 bhp. Obviously not as upright as the Buell but lots o' power.

I've ridden a couple of Buell's and they are about instant Torque. I have a Chopper I built with an S&S 113 with more power than you can shake your wank at but she don't corner too well.

  • false fuel tank??

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, the fuel is in the frame.

  • fuel is housed in the frame and the "false fuel tank" is the airbox cover actually. Rear fork houses the oil reservoir instead. Being made of aluminium it dissipates heat very well. How clever?

  • rear fork,I think you mean the swingarm or as some call it,radius arm.

  • yeah, couldn't come up with the word. english ain't my first language.

  • i saw one of these on the road, they look amazing

  • 4min - 4.08min haha xD

    nice looking bike

  • How can a 900 feel like a toybike?

  • cause it's fucking light wight only 174kg even with 1000 cc. And it's small visually not like R1 or hayabusa with dummy plastics on sides and more stupid features that looks like half a car.

This bike is born to ride a town and it's perfect to break a neck and be invalid :)

  • I like the look, I'm parted in between this bike and the street triumph R... I don't get the hate around Buell bikes.

  • 174kg ! That's light indeed, my scooter is 160kg and the tank is 10L !

Ah, should really be a joy in town or on serpentines.

  • 174kg is not fucking light.

  • compared to a bmw it is light :D

  • Show me the similar bike with 1000 cc and more than one cylinder. Than we will talk :)

  • streetfighter?

  • thats the xb12sx

  • no it's the City X xb9sx i have one same color but with black wheels.

  • I ride gsxr but if i were to buy a v-twin next this would be the bike

  • epic musiccccccccc

  • beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think kawasakis and hondas have no character and all look very similar. Its just an opinion. The Buell lightning is one of the best handling bikes out there. Try riding one. I have a Buell XB12s lightning with the 1203 cc engine. I love it. If I were to criticise my own bike it is its Harley gearbox which is very clunky but you get used to it.

  • white cows, i need some of those

  • View my video:

LED - Motorcycle Tail light and Brake light

  • thumbs up if like me, you think this is the most badass naked and affordable V2 bike.

people who only look at horsepower haven't got a clue on what a fun bike really is and obviously has never ridden a V2.

    Nice review. good sound.

  • I've never riden one (only inline 4's) but I can tell this bike has nice linear power and a decent torque curve to pull you out of turns easily. I might buy one....we'll see!

  • obviously you've never ridden a vtwin before. try one out and you'll see they're more fun to thrash around on the back roads than any inline 4 bike.

  • Actually Suzuki,Honda,Kawasaki & Yamaha's 600cc's are at least a $1,000 more than the Buell....just a FYI

  • i will agree they are not the best looking bike but i will say they ride so nice you just look where you want it to go and as if knowing it just goes there

  • is this a good starter bike? it's almost 1000cc but it seems like it's light enough to be good for beginners

  • NO.

    way too difficult for beginners.

    250cc for you.;

  • I had one of these (until an old lady in a Mazda took me out), and even though I have never really been a "bike" person, it was great. Getting on after a rough day at work was awesome, few things can compare for a de-stress session!! Will certainly get another bike, if not a Buell then something even nicer. Was a great ride and it looked wicked!

  • Are the fans really as loud as the guy says they are?

  • Yes, they are pretty obnoxious.

  • Just imagine a fighter jet turning off the engines after coming to a stop =)

It's cool though, just pisses off your neighbors when you come home at 3 am! lol

  • louder than the engine at idle, lol...they need to redsign the fan blades, duh.

  • I love the styling on these bikes, I don't care what people think.

  • that was a great vid, very well done and the bike is just amaze looking

  • and the buell makes more torque...and i say so ?

what can it do that a jap bike cant ?

  • sounds better goes harder looks nicer lasts longer (doesnt sound like a mosquito)... most of the resons

  • Turn heads... I see more GSXRs, R1s, and CBRs than civics nowadays...

  • there are a lot of things that turn heads which are not nice....this bike is interesting but i could never justify spending money on it....id take one for free

  • Coming from a CBR 600 F2 stunt bike, and a daily driver GSXR 750, the XB12R sounds better, handles better, and gets better fuel economy, not to mention the styling has grown on me! People come up and ask me about it all the time, cars driving along side me are constantly craining their necks to check it out. Fun bike, you should go test drive one and see for yourself....

  • so you are trying to tell me that a bike with twice the displacement gets better fuel economy

  • Absolutely, that's the same engine (with minor tweeks I believe), found in sportsters. If you read the reviews from both professionals and owners, you'll see that it's not uncommon to see upwards of 50 mpg highway, and around 40 city. My cousin has squeezed over 55 mpg on his with the race kit.

  • no one qould ever give you one for free you septic piece of shit

  • i could get your mother for free though you dirty monkey

  • uh huh... watever septic yank tank

  • wow it makes 80 hp at just 750....and then it still gets smoked by any jap 600 ...another example of american POS

  • its actually just as fast as the 600 in 1/4 mile but the 600 are playing catch up right till the end.Air cooled twins still have there place and if you want to compare it to anything it would be BMW twins or Ducati air cooled monsters. Besides how often do you ride faster than 140mph on the street

  • ok its fast as a 600 with 300 more cc....thanks for supporting my point

  • everyone is so focused on the displacment being suitable for ama super bike or super stock but if you dont race what difference does it make and if you remember air cooled engine and want one there arent to many choices and good luck finding low milage gsx 1100r so all thats left is bmw ducati buell ural so cant you be happy there are other bikes to ride than just 600 750 1000 fours that would get boring. hey what do you ride a me too bike

  • Its actually 92hp at 750? second of all how much torque that that POS jap thing put out??? These bikes are full of torque!

  • torque is Americans excuse for poor performing motors....torques is good for 18 wheelers...thats where it matters...also in tractor pulls...when it comes to speed horsepower to weight matters....think about this

you can probaly put like 150 ft-lbs of torque onto something with a foot long wrench or ratchet...do that to the wheel of a car and it moves...but you can only do this a couple of times, and very slowly .... this is where hp comes in...its simply an amount of torque at a certain rpm....

  • mosquito bikes are japans excuse to make SHIT MOTORBIKES

  • and you are a rednecs exuse for reproduction

  • Your the american so technically I can't be a 'redneck' (yes thats how its spelt im sorry). Go ride your little shitty japanese road bikes instead of sitting on youtube abusing people who have different opinions to you.

  • "torque is Americans excuse for poor performing motors"

... or for people who like to have performance without having to rev up to 9k rpms. I used to have a zx6-r, loved the bike, but these days I prefer to ride differently. Specially the xb9 is a blast to ride in the city. By the time you hit your 9k you're already over the speed limit. With the Buell you have max torque right from the beginning, perfect for short acceleration bursts between lights.

  • once again...the jap bikes accelerate to 60 in like 4 seconds (or even faster for more experienced riders) so they have the "short acceleration" bursts....i like the buells but i dont see the value in getting on you know

  • Everybody is different. I like to have that burst at low rpms and I love the sound of a V2. On the other hand high speed is not really one of my priorities. The fastet I've ever riden on the Ninja was 230 Km/h (I'm sure the bike could have gone faster)

But what I like most bout the XBs are the looks.

I also like the Ducati 1198 and I would buy both if I had the money to have a racing bike and a streetfighter but unfortunately I don't. Ducati's streetfighter is nice too but too expensive.

  • i get your drift man

  • hey.. maybe its not a sport bike.

Its air cooled. "torque" if you believe in such things.. is handy.

I liked my r6 based fz.. but for tooling around in traffic, it was horrible. Only fun if you kept it up above 7-8 grand. Like ya say,.

  • Was watching this just for an idea of how long video roadtests should run to get the right amount of info across, and then got less than two minutes in to discover that the 'transmission is a fly-by-wire system" (sorry, what?), that it is a "bi-cylinder" (is that like a twin?) and that it generates "80hp at 750rpm" (that's what you call low-down power) and lost the will to continue.

Shame, it was all going so well, let down by detail: cracking bike, though, only lacking the 1200's grunt..

  • I bought one of these a couple days ago. Going to go pick it up tomorrow or the next day. I'm so psyched.. i love this bike.

  • nice supermotard streetfighter.

  • At my work there are 30-40 bikes in the lots on any sunny day....the only bikes that turn heads are a Ducati 749 and a Buell. First it is the sound then the styling. But every day I see folk doing double takes on these same two bikes.

  • Lemme guess yer a harly guy

  • No I ride a Suzuki but I would take a Buell any day.

  • Now I give credit to buell for making different looking bikes for sure, Good looking, I dono, but different, but why on earth would you go from a good bike (suzuki) to a bike that cannot hold a candle on any level?

  • Thats like asking why would you marry Suzie if there are taller gals, or gals who have bigger dimensions, or who have more money or nicer hair or better looks or nicer clothes. You just dig Suzie.

  • first of all its ''harley'' not harly,

Second of all and i quote ''but why on earth would you go from a good bike (suzuki)'' so u say buell is a bad bike ?

obviously u never driven a buell nor u know anything about it mako7828, everyone has his own taste and idea about motorcycles,i owned a lot of bikes all bikes had there own qualitys, i prefer the buell cause of lots of reasons, but saying a buell is not a good bike to handle, is like saying i dont know anything about motorcycles.

  • I came off a Suzuki GSXR 750 to a Triumph Speed Triple, I like the power curve better, the look is ten times better, and the comfort is ten times better while still maintaining clip ons and sporty positioning. The Buell seems like a dirtbike in terms of maneuverability for me, I wish the Triple was a little lighter in that respect but I love it all the same. I also dig Suzie!

  • When they say, it doesn't handle well at high speeds, how high do them mean?

Are they talking racing speeds, or high way speeds?

I couldn't imagine ever needed to go faster then 140 km/hr on a bike.

  • will be fine, at normal highway speeds.

  • these bikes handle great right up to top gear red line top speed is 140mph 220kmph even though it has a steep head angle the front wheel set up makes all the difference the wheel is lighter but the disc is huge and its gyro effect is like a speed driven steering dampner so different from every thing.reliability 26000km one fix under warranty , oil, tires front break pads, hydro lifters NO valve adjustment

  • wait a minute... this bike has NO necessary valve adjustments? I have a 2001 speed triple and talked to a guy who has a 2003 buell lightning and frankly very impressed with the more "dirtbike" feel of the Buell. I have valve adjustments every 12000 miles though.

  • No it has hydraulic self adjusting valves.....very Harley-ish in that respect. Although many bikes have had hydraulic valves over the years.

  • it looks cool.. i think your a peice of shit

  • ditto....

  • mother fucker i would

  • at a Ducati Monster, (Heavy more expensive), Triumph triple speed, (more expensive). I decided on a Buell XB12s. I got mine for $2,000 off sticker, it was an 2004 in 2005 with 1 mile on it ($9,200 out the door with helmet and bike cover) Ive driven it over 10,000 miles with absolutely no problems. It is fun, comfertable and gets 55 miles to a gallon, if you take it a little easy. If I wanted the fastest crotch rocket, ZX10, at the time I would have bought that bike. I didn't want it.

  • Wow, either some of you guys never owned a motorcycle or are extreme idiots. 1st, to me, I love anything on 2 wheels, second, when your buying a bike, be real about your decision. my first bike was an old nighthawk 650, loved it but it constantly broke down, second bike was a cbr f3, loved it. but (1) I wanted a naked bike (new standard if you will) with (2) handle bars, lower foot pegs. (3) wanted something different, not a belly button bike. (4) American made if I could. So after looking...

  • OK....I'll have fun with what I earn at work. You do whatever you want.

  • We are cheap and hard working

  • If you like bikes, buy one and go ride. Respect the sport enough to respect other people's rides. I've owned and loved bikes from 3 continents - most recently an XB12s. I'm not racing anyone and don't give a damn who can go faster. I love this thing - it's a blast to ride, has tons of torque. I like the feel and sound of the big twin. You have to pay attention at high speed, but it's fine.

Go out and ride; that's what is is all about.

Damn, this thing is fun...did I mention that?

  • Been looking at these bikes but torn between a jap sport bike & a buell. I have been riding enduro for sometime & never had a "Big" road bike before (although have road some before) Keep looking at the lightning there is something about it that floats my boat so too speek. Any advice???

  • The lightning is a great bike, had an xb9 now gettin an xb12. I would definately recommend it!

  • Been looking at these bikes. I find them very comfortable. I think I'll probably make the purchase in the next month or so.

I've been riding Suzuki bikes until now, grew out of my supersport phase. I love the distinctive look and the practical powerband. What good is ultra-high top end on the street? Give me low down pull any day.

  • at 80 is the engine screaming and vibrating?

  • I just recently bought an 08XB12R. The only time you really notice vibration from the engine is at idle, once you start moving it is smooth not inline 4 smooth but it is barealy noticeable. 80mph puts you around 3700rpms in 6th gear, so it is a little loud but if you are cruising is isn't uncofortable, wind noise in the helmet is still louder than the exhaust, on top of the bike anyways.

  • the new xb12r is so sweet my friend and i just went to arizona on it at an average of 80 mph and it didnt flinch. extremely good bike

  • does anyone know how well this bike holds the highway at around 80 MPH?

  • It holds nice and steady at 80..

I did some traveling on mine and held it at around 80-85 for about an hour straight and there were no issues.

    I Love it

  • 750 revs/minute?? what??

  • 750 revs per minute eh?

  • i like this motors tv :)

  • My Buell parked outside my work gets about 10 times the gawkers than any of the jap bikes parked next to it. And when I fire it up with my D&D exhaust, even Harley riders turn and look. Excellent bike if you don't want to be part of the masses.

  • I find the XB9 SOOOO much more comfortable than my Katana. Unfortunately I don't have the cash to upgrade just yet :-(

  • i agree. i dont have a lightning, i have a buell blast. i ride with a bunch of zx-6r's and other "big 4" bikes. every time we stop and chat somewhere everyone walks past all the other bikes to ask me questions about mine. true buells dont go 200mph but its kinda cool when a 35hp 500cc bikes leads the pack through town cause nothing else can corner like a buell.

  • i have the new xb12r and it is pretty damn fast. it handles good and has a clean gear shift. i had the one in the video but it wasnt for me it was too short and the tires didnt hold up on tight roads

  • @pizzameetcha then buy new fucking tires for fuck sake? its one of the best handling bike on the road of it's type

  • low range bike....that´s a pity

  • It doesn't compare with my blown 650 twin. Her head shakes like hell at around 120 but,put your head down and your heart into it and she pulls through with never a wobble at around 160-I am talking miles, not your poofs kilometres.I've ahd 166 max on the clock with following wind. How's that BUell(shit)?

  • fuck you...

  • Why the Hate?

  • i dont know why so many compare this bike to some zx10 its next closest bike would be a ducati monster not that anyone here can actually ride a zx10

  • It says it's unstable at high speeds... so how bad is it at 60-70 mph?

  • Buells are ridiculously sensitive to suspension setup, mostly because of the short wheelbase.

My guess is that the bike was not setup properly for the rider's weight.

When I first got my XB9SX it would also become unstable at 100mph, but after setting up the suspension as per the manual it is perfect at any speed.
