  • Right okay i may have a problem, the Android folder section in the preferences just isn't there what have i done wrong?

  • just to throw my opinion on the Mac OS thing goin on here.....Macs are like a Toyota Prius...They get you where your going if you don't know how to drive something with 650 hp under the hood

  • Real men dual wield operating systems...

  • STFU about mac and pc, it doesn't matter!!!!

Anyway, the freakin Android API is taking forever to download through the sdk manager!! wtf...

  • no this is not going to work, I have done everything you have shown us but unless everything has been updated nothing in windows looks anything like your videos it's way out. I am going to have to look for a windows verson tutorials.

  • When I go to window> preferences is still dont see "android"

  • @chaotic778 looks like your using a mac..click onto eclipse and then click pref..

  • @jayjaycreativevlog I'm actually using a PC

  • Unexpected Error installing 'SDK Platform Android 2.2, API 8, revision 3': org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Widget is disposed

need help i have v 2.1 and 4.0 but i get this we i try to get 2.2

  • I cannot get the android tab to show up. I have installed Eclipse, Android SDK, Java JDK, and I have set up the other thing, but it won't show up. It would be a great help if you could respond. Thanks.

  • i rather watch this than porn..cause i might get a job developing for android...then i can find a real gal cause i will have money to buy things wil my new skills. YEY i love this stuff.

  • I like other people don't see that 'Android' folder. Any help, please?

  • Hi, nice video but i have a problem. When you got to preference you had a android in left box to choose, i do not have it. Do you know what is the problem ?

  • Cool new voice Bucky!

  • ompen

  • Download the new DRESS CASEY ANTHONY APP. Very fun to play and very funny. Guy who come up with it is genius

  • If you guys cant run the emulator use C:\PROGRA~1\Android\android-sdk instead of C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk

  • Be sure you actually UNPACK the android-sdk-windows folder in the android-sdk_r12-windows ( or mac versions ) and place it somewhere. If you install the sdk using the manager while it is still inside the .rar, the addon and platform folders will not be filled by the install/update.

So unpack the rar, THEN use the sdkmanager.

If you do that you'll find the android map ( the one you unpacked ) and it will show the platforms installed like you did in prevous video.

  • I love how people who THINK they know anything about computers think that a pc and mac are completely different computers because their cases and OS's are different. My friends a Rolls Royce is only better than a Honda because they use better parts to make it but you will the price.

  • can u help me out i cant find the android folder in the preference and i have done everything exactly they way u said it am using pc is there anything else am suppose to do . thanks

  • I have an idea for an app. Just need someone to make it. If interested PM me or email me at teenmastersbowling74@yahoo.com

  • @TheDirtMan74 ......

  • Thanks for this, you are a wonderful person for sharing this knowledge with us.

We all in here should be thankful, even if you use a mac ;? This is too good to be free.

  • Cant find the android thing...

  • Hey Travis I love this project of yours. I am planning on following all 200 tutorials... I got a problem when setting up the preferences. I located my folder (c:\android-sdk_r12-windows), but when I select the folder it simply does not recognize any platform that I've downloaded during the 3rd tutorial. Do you happen to have any hint for me?

  • I'm disappointed that you aren't using a linux distro

  • @Farizard Why do u want them to use Linux. Most of us are Windows or Mac users. Linux is good but not popular , and these videos are not made for guru. So they expect to have a lot of windows users. If you need extra help for Linux , plz check the android developer site.

  • I preffer Linux or in other case Windows not the dummy "cool" mac

  • I dont see android folder

  • my emulator is way too big.. is there something to do with it ???

  • Comment removed

  • @BENNN121

Yes, you can change it by going to:

    Run > Run Configurations,

Choose New_Configuration (Or whatever you called it), go to the Tab 'Target' and scroll to the bottom.

It should say 'Additional Emulator Command Line Options'

    Put this inside that box:

    -scale 0.90

the 0.90 is the size compared to the original 100%.

So that will make it 10% smaller than the original.

keep changing the number to make it best for you.

  • @ViperSniper100

that works !!! thanks so much !! :-)

  • Thank you

  • I did what you said, but I haven't had an “android” tab, so I followed a guide on the android developer website, and downloaded the ADT Plugin

If you have the same problem, follow the guide over here:

google > Downloading the ADT Plugin > first link

  • You seem like a smart person. Why on earth do you use a mac?

  • @WPGxSpork Agree :D

  • @WPGxSpork bucky has macs too

  • @WPGxSpork He said it was his friends...

  • Comment removed

  • @WPGxSpork I think because he can only develop iPhone apps from Mac but generally I agree with you.

  • @WPGxSpork you seem like a dumb person from your question.

  • @WPGxSpork You're an idiot.

  • @WPGxSpork There's nothing wrong with mac, windows, chrome or linux. They all depend on what you prefer and what you use your computer for.

  • @WPGxSpork Lol fuck you ^_^

  • @UnexpectedCamel agreed.

  • @WPGxSpork They are built better

  • @emes85 Are you that misinformed? Macs are built with the exact same parts 90% of other prebuilts are, and are put together by foxconn in Taiwan, like 90% of other prebuilts are. Don't believe Apple's marketing bullshit. If you want a quality computer, you should put one together yourself.

  • @WPGxSpork actually Chinese/Taiwanese factories never turn back someone based on their budget, thats their business strategy, if a guy wants to build a device for $100 and if another guy wants the same device for $1000 both will be manufactured but for the $100 device they will use cheap components.

  • @WPGxSpork another fanboy...

  • @WPGxSpork Exactly...he should be running Linux right? :)

  • @eff4eye Wrong

  • @WPGxSpork because smart people use a Mac!

  • @Tusharchutani not really, smart people that know what they are doing with their computer usually use Linux!

  • @WPGxSpork lol

  • @WPGxSpork Last time I checked it was perfectly acceptable to run whatever OS you wanted regardless of your intelligence. I run Linux, Windows and Mac. I, for one, don't care what you or anybody else thinks about my intelligence because Mac happens to be one of the platforms I use. I don't need your permission or blessing. This video is about android development and not which platform he's developing on.

  • @WPGxSpork Most likely he's a student or he was recently studying. Clearly Mac's got the lead in laptops. While there's not a huge difference they're the optimal choice.

If it's a stationary Mac, I think we missjudged him.

  • @WPGxSpork Because on a Mac you can develop ANY software? Idiot.

  • @ThomasRojan

It's more limited than a windows. Plus macs are way over priced for their shitty hardware. My 1000 dollar PC can make my friend's 2400 dollar Mac bite the mud

  • @ObliviuxProductions See that's the kind of dumb thinking we do not need in this field. Macs are not overpriced, there is only one overpriced Mac and thats the Mac Pro which no one buys. It is NO way more limited than Windows, infact it is MORE powerful and superior than Windows. Windows doesn't even have native disk mounting. Macs have superior hardware, better support, no bloatware, better UI, higher quality apps.

  • @ThomasRojan

Show me any mac and I bet I can find you any PC that is 1000 dollars cheaper. Windows doesn't have bloatware either, and about support- windows 7 is great. UI is all about opinion, and the quality of the applications don't matter as long as they work as intended.

  • @ObliviuxProductions Find me a MBP equivalent. No one else does the same build quality, IPS display, unibody, 7+ hours battery life, OS X, Linux, Windows whatever. Same for the iMac, 27in IPS display which costs £800+ alone, plus the innards of a high-end PC, although it does have a mobile GPU I admit. But Macs are not gaming machines but workstations. They have some of the best Intel CPUs and they come out with it earlier than Windows OEMs can due to Intels relations with Apple.

  • @ThomasRojan

Whatever, I can build a PC that is much more powerful than a mac with 2/3 or less of what a mac would cost.

AND I can upgrade it in the future.

  • @ObliviuxProductions No it's not whatever. I have a custom built PC too. But they are for different purposes, one is a professional workstation the other is a gaming computer. Go look at HPs workstations. Who says you can't upgrade Macs? If you have a Macbook it's like any other laptop, and if you have iMac you can still upgrade RAM, HDD, sometimes even GPU. But then again what AIO PC can upgrade? The Mac Pro is upgradable.

  • @ThomasRojan

Anything a mac can do, a PC can do. So yes - whatever. I use my PC for gaming AND as workstation.

  • @ObliviuxProductions Well no, it can't. You can't run Mac OS X in any legal way. You don't get legendary support, you don't get unrivaled build quality, you don't keep cheap OS updates.

  • @ThomasRojan

Why would anyone want to run the Mac OS in the first place? Why would you want "legendary support" if it's not needed? My PC is better build quality than any Mac because I built it my self. Sounds to me like ignorance is the only reason people would want to get a Mac.

  • @ObliviuxProductions Theres 2 reasons why i got a Mac. 1. Mac OS X, it is the best OS out there that can play games as well as being an awesome OS. 2. Great support, my Mac had to get a battery replacement, and Apple basically upgraded my entire computer, new motherboard and everything... it was all FREE, i didnt even have warrenty. Beats any PC in my opinion. Once you have a Mac, you don't go back

  • @jichaelmackson1958

Actually I had a Mac and I still got a PC as a second computer, because it was cheaper and more powerful. and it did anything a mac could do plus more. and the Mac OS is hardly the best OS. It's the same as windows, except everything is arranged differently and the names of the functions are different. It looks shiny too, big whoop. Anyway- no sense in arguing anymore since you lost since the start. PC will always be better than Mac it is no accident that its more popular.

  • @ObliviuxProductions I lost at the start... LOL, anyway, PC's are more popular in numbers, but that is changing rapidly, Mac has had the largest growth of any computer company in the world for the past 5 years, continuing that trend the Mac will be 50/50 with the PC in 5 years. It's clear that you prefer a system with outdated core functions, RAM eating services and Virus infested over a Clean, safe and Modern system

  • @ObliviuxProductions The way you talk implies you've never used Mac OS X. I'm not biased man, I've used Windows PCs since 1998 and I still do but Mac OS X is my preference.

  • @jichaelmackson1958 I bought a Macbook about 4 years back, it had a dodgy battery. Which they changed due to it being in warranty. The next battery broke, which I had to replace myself, that one then broke, then the charger. While all of this was happening the bezel around the keyboard and monitor was literally crumbling away. I look after my things so this was not due to me being careless. The pc I built 3 yrs before is still going, flawlessly. So yes, I have gone back.

  • @ObliviuxProductions You realize Mac OS is from the 80s right? I don't think you know what your talking about. Because in all seriousness, aside from gaming Mac OS X trumps Windows. It doesn't even have native disk mounting, Mac OS X has far better window management, resource management, power management, better UI IMO, way way more stable, app resume, auto-save, iCloud, AirDrop, AppleScript, Spotlight and so much more I'm not going into it. Your PC IS NOT better build than a Mac it cannot be.

  • @ObliviuxProductions You have no idea what your talking about sorry if you think a custom built PC is better build than a Mac. If use this argument you can only compare to the Mac Pro. And that will shit over any PC you build, simply because it's a workstation. No wires, all plug and play. Check it out. Thanks.

  • @ObliviuxProductions I apologize for being a bit snarky earlier.

  • @WPGxSpork Because Macs are for creative professionals.

  • @WPGxSpork if he's developing for ios like xcode :P

  • @linkinparkfan007 It better be a hackintosh then :p

  • What if we're using windows and downloaded the exe because we cant choose that in the C:

  • @TheRandomMan20111 If you installed the sdk in its default location it should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk for 64-bit operating systems or C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk for 32-bit operating systems, however another problem will arise because of the white space in the folder name "program files" or "program files (x86)" so i suggest using C:\PROGRA~1\Android\android-sdk for 32-bit os or C:\PROGRA~2\Android\android-sdk for 64-bit os.

  • @TheRandomMan20111 download the zip and inside there will be a folder called "eclipse" click that and there will be an .exe file called eclipse click that and there you go :0

  • @thenewboston great stuff!!!

  • Watching the video, a new came up. And so it's go on :D

  • 1st to get laid

  • @c0decub Threesome?
