What is completely remarkable about Sr. Wendy is that in this day and age she can still completely remove herself from the complete illusion and lies that is everyday life. She is obvioulsly blissful and happy in her heart, unlike the viewers who feel the need to say she has a 'sad life' . How happy they must be then, come share it, let's all hear how wondeful and blissful your lives are.
She gave a good exposition on the spiritual life. As a young man I thought of taking that path, but did not. Instead God's been getting to learn the same lessons in the places I am at right now.
0:58+ "Because I have got a very small human capacity, and are, in some ways, an inadequate woman..." Does anyone know what she meant by that? I felt very sad for her when she said that, as in reality she's fantastic.
@Jennirn2u I still don't understand the comment and wish I knew in what way she felt it is true. I think most of us don't feel she is inadequate at all, so I wouldn't call it self-actualization as much as a low self-opinion.
Over a period of years of watching the sweet sister, I understand her. I can't live the life she has lived, never would consider it, but she has LIVED. She has observed the arts and seen more than a lot of us do who are free. I use Sister Wendy in my art history classes. I think she is a thoughtful art critic.
I don't think people should be judging Sister Wendy and her "sad" life. Just by watching this video, it is clear what a smart, intelligent woman she is, regardless of her religious beliefs. Don't dismiss her because her religious beliefs differ from yours.

It really makes me sad to see someone throw away their life like this. She knows very well she can't talk to any 'higher power' or anything of the sort. She knows it's not bliss being isolated from so much of life in such solitude.
I despair at the thought of people like her teaching children it is good to spend your life in denial.
She can seem to have wisdom to the simplest of minds.
That's a bit unfair; I mean, it's all relative, right? Her life might have been lived differently than we've lived (or are living) ours, but that was HER decision to make and I doubt she'd ever say that it was a waste or a mistake.
What's sadder is that more people aren't as sure about their places in life as she is. Surely that kind of conviction is something to be admired.
I was watching this as some funny joke, and as a 15 year old, I was like "whoa" watching this. She expresses her self with such grace, and such opinion. She is a very intelligent lady.

Sister Wendy's commentary on art always makes you appreciate the works on a higher level. Interesting to learn a bit about her as well. She's so intelligent and worldly.
I was dumbfounded as well. I rented this video sort of as a joke. This is so much deeper than the TV show. Get this video on Amazon or something...there is an original 3 hr transcript that comes with it. Believe it or not, they edited out some amazing moments...she even sort of disses BM.
I find different peoples` beliefs really interesting. I`m not a christian as i lost my faith some years back because of certain things but i always find christians are such positive and nice people. This lady seems so nice and i wish all the best for her.
As she speaks, "there is so much I did not know of my parents..that they argue, that there is ugliness, etc" ..
There IS so much one loses pursuing such a life. They remain in such ignorance, within an ideal that is unhealthy, irrational, and unrealistic...
At 16 what do you know? Spending ones life praying "wanting god to take possession of me"..etc.
It is fanaticism. Living in a bubble, helping nobody but her weak self..
I am not a hateful or judgmental person, but it upsets me so..

@94dgrif No reason to feel sorry. She's reached self-actualization through her spirtiual life and love of art.
