wow. great vid! neat place. sometimes i think i would love to live out in the desert somewhere like this.........peaceful, away from All civilization.
i went here on a fireld trip as a kid. theres another ghost town further by california/nevada border. i love being in vegas. theres so much haunted stuff here too!
Nelson used to be a true ghost town. I visited it in 1969 while bumming around the country alone on my motorcyle for a year. When I reached Nelson and shut off the engine, it was so silent that it almost hurt. Nobody lived in the town at all then. I remember a cave at the edge of town where I got some shelter from the sun. It turned out that someone was killed there long ago. There were also large chemical tanks at that time.
somebodies carefully crafted look at what a ghost town is to them....I think we have a "collector" on hand , living in the dessert making money off people traveling out of their way , to see a museum... not my idea of Ghost towns
@Toyman6000 Wrong, it is to a ghost town and one where live people still live there. Some or a couple of the barns are newer built by the new owner of the claim after it played out the most gold on record in the whole county. He has collected items over time with many of them being from the mining era and area.
You may also buy some "dessert" in this desert. lol Of course he's trying to run a business. So what?
it's not a ghost town... i've been there, and i'm pretty sure the guy who runs the tours of the mine there BUILT those buildings. they were just made to look old. and the tour of the mine was awesome, btw. :)
the mine tour is awesome..its like 10 bucks, u go deep into the mine, and see all the lil passages, and learn its history..i was very impressed, and i dont impress easily..
make a day of it and take a dip in the colarado river there the water is crystal clear and refreshing on a 110 degree day..
what makes you say that? I dont think he'd go to so much trouble considering how few tourists visit there. Nelson was an established mining town and so its hardly surprising some of these buildings remain
Also the main building is FULL of historical artifacts, its like a museum. Those are fake too huh?
I call that tresspassing, not an unguided tour. A family (very wonderful people--I must add) live there and give tours. It's a great place to go, and the tour is fantastic.

Thanks for the vid. I visited Nelson (or rather the buildings surrounding the Techatticup mine) a few weeks ago.
It was really interesting, but sadly we turned up just as the last guided tour of the day was leaving.
Its nice to see some video of it again. I always wanted to visit a ghost town

Ah! I see you found those large tanks. Part of a movie called, "They Came to Rob Las Vegas" was filmed in Nelson, btw.

That was really stupid! I didn't scared, not even once. Except for the part where there was howling, and a cat or baby crying.
