I've been on the Cenotaph Remembrance Day parade for the past 8 years . The two minute silence and then the sound of 'Last Post' is a real lump in the throat time .

Go Take a look at the Last Post Menin Gate Ieper over 250,000 British and Commonwealth troops gave their lives during WW1 - Every day the Belgians play the last post and for anyone who has not been there it is an amazing place, the respect shown the Belgian people is quite astonishing, when I went there the school children were stood to attention. The names of every known soldier who gave their life is inscribed on the walls. Excellent Video.

first of all do you know what brought about the magna carta??? King John had to sign it when the nobles rebelled in the country because he wanted money to go to war with france. at that time england was in debt. so the magna carta was one of the first written papers that granted the most basic freedoms. And modern democracy is a direct decendant of ancient democracies because the ancients came up with two versions. Direct and Indirect which is what most countries have today

England had and Still has a Monarchy (which is not as powerful but is still there) England was the first country to make a sort of bill of rights. but France was the first country to become a Full democracy after their Revolution. America even though they said were democratic were not because they had slavery. John Locke was one British philosopher who influenced American government but Monteque created the blueprint for a true democratic country
