Downham clearly teaches the day=year principle in his refutation of the Jesuit priest.

You have provided NO evidence for you position on the "Mark of the beast". Indeed, the language is found throughout the OT. For example, read Ezekiel 8:16-- what was the "last straw" before the judgment against Israel? "...they worshiped the SUN toward the east." Eze.9--tells of a protective "mark".

@patienceprence What does SDA have to do with the historical Protestant interpretation of Bible prophecy? I have never attended an SDA church, nor will I. But this has absolutely no relevance to the subject of the Antichrist or the Mark of the Beast. I am always amazed that when people can't defend their own position, they have to attack someone's religious affiliation. I agree with the SDA view of eschatology; it is their soteriology I disagree with (They're Arminian; I'm Calvinist).

The Bible was written in Greek and Hebrew. Not Latin. John wrote Revelation in Greek so the name of the beast will be in Greek. Maitreya in Greek and Hebrew both equal 666.
The Greek word for mark is charagma. Strong's Concordance defines charagma as "a scratch or etching", "a badge of servitude", "graven", and finally "mark" [5]. Strong's also notes that charagma is directly related to the Greek word charax, which means "to sharpen to a point" and "a stake" [6].

Their are two beasts in Revelation 13, the first one we call the Antichrist and the second The false Prophet. I beleive the False prophet will start the one world religion under Rome... A "beast" doesn't just represent an individual, but an empire that individual is the head of. The "sea beast" (Rev.13:1-10), is the same entity as the "scarlet harlot" of Rev.17. God always gave His people ONE final warning before the final judgment of His people (Eze.8-9), it's NO different in the time just before the 2nd Advent.

If we compare Scripture with Scripture, and view history in light of the Scriptures, the Mark is easy to figure out and understand. Actually Chuck Smith has an amazing understanding on what the Mark of the Beast is. Revelation 13:16-17 clearly states "He required everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no could buy or shell anything without that mark, which was the either name the name of the beast or the number representing his name" How is Pastor Chuck's teaching misleading? He is a great bible teacher.

He simple teaches a "pop" eschatology: Pre-trib. rapture, 7 yr. trib., a future antichrist (Antichrist has been with us for centuries), and looking toward the literal, 21st century nation-state of Israel as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Every single one of these elements is fallacious.

While i'm not sure about the rapture, i agree with both sides; i believe there could be a pre-tribulation rapture and i also believe there could be a post-tribulation rapture. Chuck Smith is an amazing bible teacher he is NOT false teacher.
@godstenrules You sound like a very reasonable person. And it sounds like you may be unclear about the rapture vs. the 2nd Advent. There should be no question that the rapture is a Biblical concept. Jn.14:1-3; 1Thes.4:16-17, for example, make this very clear. However, when we read ALL the texts concerning the 2nd Advent, it is easy to discover that the rapture and 2nd Advent are the SAME EVENT. They cannot be separated by a mythical 7 yr. period of tribulation.
I'm not sure i'm going to choose one anytime soon, i'm neutural on the issue. I believe both are possible. I believe there could be a pre-tribulation and i also believe there cold be a post-tribulation too. We'll find out when it hapens, Won't we?

Who are left behind to be "caught up together...to meet the Lord in the air"? The "wheat".
Mt.24:36-41-- Who are "taken" in this passage? The righteous? No! The ones "taken" are the wicked who are "taken" to dectruction. In Lk.17:37-- the disciples even ask Jesus where the wicked are "taken", and He answers them perfectly.
@godstenrules The 7 yr. period of tribulation is based upon a misinterpretation of Dan.9:24-27. Dispensational futurists attempt to stop the 490 year prophecy after the end of the 483 week, and then claim it will begin again in the future. This is obviously illogical because the 70th week could not logically be called the 70th week unless it followed directly after the 69th week. Daniel's prophecy is completely Messianic in nature, and has nothing to do with antichrist.

Hence Jesus seals our foreheads and in the Old Testament the Jews were commanded to wear their phylacteries and teffilin binding them to Gods word. Its about ownership- in the same way Tatooing and piercing are also ancient pagan forms of ownership that is why God forbids tattooing. Remember, if you take these verses "literally" you will miss the whole point. The mark is not a "microchip". When the bible refers to the mark it is "SYMBOLIC". Take a moment to read Exodus 31:12-17. Also remember, that the roman empire forced this "same mark" on it's people during their rule. The "Sabbath" is Saturday, God said to "keep it Holy". The mark of this beast (The Revived Holy Roman Empire) is "SUNDAY KEEPING".

I personally believe that it is by the sword because Revelation says "He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints." I take it literally that it will be swords--I never used to take it literally but with recent news of beheadings by "swords" in muslim nations of Christians and jews, then i took it at it's word. The 'Mark of the beast' has nothing to do with an RFID chip, nat'l I.D. card or anything of the sort. This is why futurism fails, because they can't read their Bibles in order to properly discern what the 'mark' really is. Would it make sense for God to give us the most stern warning in all the Scriptures (Rev.14:9-11), and then not make it clear what the 'mark' is? Or God's 'seal' for that matter? Of course not. We are meant to know, using Scripture, what the 'mark' is.

He refutes the Jesuit Bellarmine, who taught as part of the counter-reformation, that the 1260 days were a literal 3.5 years. Downham clearly teaches the day=year principle in his refutation of the Jesuit priest.

There is only one temple on earth, and it is the temple of believers (1Cor.3:16; 2Cor.6:16 Eph.2:21); . This is what Paul is speaking of in 2Thes.2:4. Antichrist was "seated" in the place of authority over Christianity for 1260 YEARS, before the blasphemous entity (church/state= woman on a beast) received its deadly wound. John speaks of the temple of believers as well in Rev.11:1,2.

@patienceprence The term "antichrist" can also mean, "in place of Christ". And this is most assuredly what the papacy does with its blasphemous teaching of the intercession of the priesthood. You have provided NO evidence for you position on the "Mark of the beast". Indeed, the language is found throughout the OT. For example, read Ezekiel 8:16-- what was the "last straw" before the judgment against Israel? "...they worshiped the SUN toward the east." Eze.9--tells of a protective "mark".

@patienceprence What does SDA have to do with the historical Protestant interpretation of Bible prophecy? I have never attended an SDA church, nor will I. But this has absolutely no relevance to the subject of the Antichrist or the Mark of the Beast. I am always amazed that when people can't defend their own position, they have to attack someone's religious affiliation. I agree with the SDA view of eschatology; it is their soteriology I disagree with (They're Arminian; I'm Calvinist).

The Bible was written in Greek and Hebrew. Not Latin. John wrote Revelation in Greek so the name of the beast will be in Greek. Maitreya in Greek and Hebrew both equal 666.

Their are two beasts in Revelation 13, the first one we call the Antichrist and the second The false Prophet. I beleive the False prophet will start the one world religion under Rome... This is in line with Maitreya's ascended Master Jesus. He will claim to be Jesus but not the Christ. Google Master Jesus Maitreya. It all lines up with scripture.

A "beast" doesn't just represent an individual, but an empire that individual is the head of. The "sea beast" (Rev.13:1-10), is the same entity as the "scarlet harlot" of Rev.17. Once again, you abandon historic Protestantism; our forefathers would be turning in their graves to hear people making the outlandish claims you're making.

@patienceprence Are you even reading my responses? The term "sign", "seal", "signet", "mark"...are all used interchangeably throughout the Scriptures. You have to look at the CONTEXT in which the term is being used. This is basic hermeneutics 101.
God always gave His people ONE final warning before the final judgment of His people (Eze.8-9), it's NO different in the time just before the 2nd Advent.

This scratch or etching would fit with the verichip that makes it possible for no one to buy who sell with out this mark. Check out my video for the close up of the chip... it has a swastika on it. The X is a mark in his name. Chi (X) -Xi-Stigma - 666. The swastika is the X with bent sides. The Maitreya buddha also has this swastika and it is on the chip.

*Notice that the Confession specifically quotes 2Thes.2:3? I am consistent in my historic biblical hermeneutic.

If we compare Scripture with Scripture, and view history in light of the Scriptures, the Mark is easy to figure out and understand. God would not leave His last-days people in the dark about this very important issue.

Actually Chuck Smith has an amazing understanding on what the Mark of the Beast is. Revelation 13:16-17 clearly states "He required everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no could buy or shell anything without that mark, which was the either name the name of the beast or the number representing his name" How is Pastor Chuck's teaching misleading? He is a great bible teacher.

He simple teaches a "pop" eschatology: Pre-trib. rapture, 7 yr. trib., a future antichrist (Antichrist has been with us for centuries), and looking toward the literal, 21st century nation-state of Israel as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Every single one of these elements is fallacious.

While i'm not sure about the rapture, i agree with both sides; i believe there could be a pre-tribulation rapture and i also believe there could be a post-tribulation rapture. Chuck Smith is an amazing bible teacher he is NOT false teacher.

@godstenrules You sound like a very reasonable person. And it sounds like you may be unclear about the rapture vs. the 2nd Advent. There should be no question that the rapture is a Biblical concept. Jn.14:1-3; 1Thes.4:16-17, for example, make this very clear. However, when we read ALL the texts concerning the 2nd Advent, it is easy to discover that the rapture and 2nd Advent are the SAME EVENT. They cannot be separated by a mythical 7 yr. period of tribulation.

Who are left behind to be "caught up together...to meet the Lord in the air"? The "wheat".
Mt.24:36-41-- Who are "taken" in this passage? The righteous? No! The ones "taken" are the wicked who are "taken" to dectruction. In Lk.17:37-- the disciples even ask Jesus where the wicked are "taken", and He answers them perfectly.

@godstenrules The 7 yr. period of tribulation is based upon a misinterpretation of Dan.9:24-27. Dispensational futurists attempt to stop the 490 year prophecy after the end of the 483 week, and then claim it will begin again in the future. This is obviously illogical because the 70th week could not logically be called the 70th week unless it followed directly after the 69th week. Daniel's prophecy is completely Messianic in nature, and has nothing to do with antichrist.
