because there really is no place for them to go when the facilities are sometimes worst than the streets, take for example the elderly lady that died while waiting in the waiting area of a mental health facility and nobody came to her aide until almost an hour after she had died. The ones on drugs, that is another issue and the professional beggars need to get a life and get a job.

I heard about that i have a family member that works at that hospital in Brooklyn N.Y...he is actually trying to go elsewhere because he know's how unprofessional some of them are...it's a shame that people go to a hospital to seek medical attention...and you can't even get the proper care...shit is crazy !!!

everybody knows her she was good ppl back in da day. There is another homeless women who won't go to the shelters because women get raped and she also has a mental illness and nobody social services will help her, so ppl give her clothes, money and food, she's been out there for almost 10 years now.

My point is ppl gotta want help in order to get help and some ppl don't think there is help, because they have been turned down or set aside. I feel for the ppl with mental illnesses

I am really upset with that lady that you said has a place to live and is pretty much a professional begger and con-artist if you ask me...but god does not like ugly...and she will reap what she sows...that is just as bad as stealing and she should be ashamed of herself !! I know alot of these people that we see asking for money...probably really need help...but it's people like her that make it bad for them...people need to just get it together...and stop being lazy !!

Speaking from own experience with the homeless in my neighborhood, most of them are not homeless. The majority of them do have a place to stay and are professional beggars, one lady in particular, I know where she lives, it's a subsidized bldg, but she gets high and thus this is where her monthly check is going. The reason she still has a place to stay is the currency exchange pays her bills first then cashes her check,

I can definately understand the shelters not being the safest place, i mean there are so many different types of people...and not all of them are bad...but then you have some who are mentally ill, on drugs, have a criminal background etc. I empathize and i don't wish that on anyone to get raped...i mean god forbid...i would be devistated..it's just a crazy situation all together!!
