  • what hp were those bull dog engines?

  • are all of these engines what you would call 'hit and miss' engines? If not, what were their purposes? Pumping? Fascinating!

  • Many of these are hit and miss engines, but some are also throttle governed. Hit and miss engines only fire when required to maintain RPM, and coast in between. When loaded, they fire every cycle to maintain set rpm.

    Most of these were used on farms where electricity wasn't available. Many uses: pumping water, sawing wood, threshing, grinding, corn shelling, hay bailing, etc. Portable, so could be used for all different chores any given day. Now we use them on ice cream freezers! Mmmm!
