Try only using one string, double length, just string your first row of beads, then put the string back through your first bead and start your second row. The less knots in your finished piece, the better it'll look. You can make multi-layer cuffs with only one string if you really pay attention to how you're building it.

I usually double by taking two equal length pieces of string and having two strings go through one bead, then put three on one string then the other and put one on both again. It's neat how people find multiple ways to do the same thing =) PLUR, kiddos
