I live in the uk play basketball and studying physiotherapist at university. Our coach assigned me as captain of the team basically because of my top performance since I started collage last year and all the guy are mad at me and the majority is white am on the only black guy on the team. I agree with this whole video, my inlaws are still jealous of me and it's been 7 yrs of racial prejudice and hate. I don't have a job any more and have stationary work injuries and they still jealous, every time something good happen to me they're not happy they have attitudes and tear me down. A lack of empathy and an envious state of mind are what alot of people now a days are afflicted with. Take yourself out of your own positions and mindset to view things from another perspective. Everyday I get home I try to set aside 10-15min for self reflection on the days events. Helps you sometimes see where you may have made a mistake or misjudgement to self correct.
The HATING is not necessarily anger at you, it's anger at the world for the level of unfairness that's out there in general, and because something long overdue to you finally shows up on your doorstep, it's perceived as a gift by others. Like MLK, Jr. received resources from his ministry and speeches, and he had nice suits & took trips across the South, He had haters!!! The resources had purpose... he had to arrive at his place of sacrifice.

omg!!! I am going through this with my cousin. She was kicked out of college while I was still in high school but now that I'm in college and getting ready to graduate she and a few of my family members treat me badly. It hurt me to see that she would be that way towards me especially when she was the one that inspired me to go to college. When I'm around her and my aunt I'm hesitant in speaking about school and my success. Recently I just decided to let go and let God. It hurt me but its life.
Omg Ti you're so right about this! I had a friend that I'd k own since kindergarten and her family always had more money than mine I was borderline poor. When we got older my mom got her degree and makes over 100000 a year ski have more things now. I just recently had a conflict with my two best friends. My friends eventually cut me off completely saying that I'm never their for them. They always say that I choose my boyfriend over them everytime I don't want to do anything with them. Neither one of them have a boyfriend so I think they are just hatin'. They have also been trying to get me to break up with him for the past 3 years.They claim that they thought je was controlling me necause he is a lot older than me but I think it's jealous.

Very true...I received a promotion at work and most of the people i thought would be happy for me weren't. they were fine as long as i was helping them out and made a paycheck less than them but once things got better for me, sideeyes came from everywhere...hurt me for a min but i got over it. I suffer from various forms of anxiety, too. Especially when it comes to meeting new people. Sometimes I'm asked to sing solo, or present a poem and, despite my talent in both areas, my nerves act up. But as someone already stated, the whole "I don't think I'm good enough" or "What if I mess up" voices are the devil's lies.
As for dealing with jealous people, it's sad there are tons of fakes. God is the only one we all have. Then there's a handful, or 5 fingers of friends. That's enough for me.

At that point and time I was really upset because I was like funny how some ppl are more concern with having babies than education. I'm not gonna knock my sister though cause despite having a baby she manage to get her masters degree that year. It just made me mad the lack of pats on the back when it came to me and my getting a university degree. But st the end of the day my immediate family (mom, dad, sister) were ALL so proud. I have also learn that if you are happy for others when they accomplish great things then God will make sure that he also bring whaterver that you are asking him come to pass, that's why I don't get jealous of anyone because I always believe if God can do it for them he can also do it for me. alot of people may not know that being jealous or envy of someone you are just blocking your own blessing from God. So the buttom line is people need to quit the jealousy and envy it's not good for you.
I've dealt with anxiety as well, but coming to Durham, NC and leaving all my family and friends up in maryland, to go on the "journey", has toughen me up, and has given thicker skin.
That's how it is in the electrical field. It's mainly a white dominanted trade, and as a young black man, you have to really come into the field knowing your stuff. Sadly I deal with more discrimination from other black electricians in an open setting vs. whites, because they feel if they make look bad it helps them. The white electricians are sneaky about it, where they to set you up behind close doors. It's more about politics then anything, so you have to really know your stuff to survive.

I remember when I decided to go back to school to pursue my bachelors, my grandfather "scolded" me about spending so much time away from my children & told me I should have thought about getting my education before I decided to become a mother. I thought it was such a caveman thing to say. I thought my family would be happy for me for furthering my education when so many females from the town I live in & world wide drop out & become welfare cases once they have children. I just recently had a conflict with my two best friends. My friends eventually cut me off completely saying that I'm never their for them. They always say that I choose my boyfriend over them everytime I don't want to do anything with them. Neither one of them have a boyfriend so I think they are just hatin'. They have also been trying to get me to break up with him for the past 3 years.They claim that they thought je was controlling me necause he is a lot older than me but I think it's jealous.

Very true...I received a promotion at work and most of the people i thought would be happy for me weren't. they were fine as long as i was helping them out and made a paycheck less than them but once things got better for me, sideeyes came from everywhere...hurt me for a min but i got over it. I cherish the few real friends i have and keep it moving. Thanks for this vid Ti! you look very pretty btw.

that's right T. forget the haters. Hating must be a very tiring full time job, because fixing oneself to be mad at someone else takes a lot of energy. That is one reason I could never stay mad at my siblings for more than 5 minutes when I was little. lol

I suffer from various forms of anxiety, too. Especially when it comes to meeting new people. Sometimes I'm asked to sing solo, or present a poem and, despite my talent in both areas, my nerves act up. But as someone already stated, the whole "I don't think I'm good enough" or "What if I mess up" voices are the devil's lies.
As for dealing with jealous people, it's sad there are tons of fakes. God is the only one we all have. Then there's a handful, or 5 fingers of friends. That's enough for me.

I am going through the same thing within my junior year of college anf life I already have haters. Even my so called god parents, who did not still do not understand I am grown, keep your eyes on your house your family not me living with my mom and how she is raising the younger teenagers she does have at home.Through it all I keep a positive attitude and feed a lot of people with a long handled spoon.Thanks for the encouragement!

Hi, I just wanted to say you are gorgeous and talented. I'm happy your auditions went well. I've learned that "change" changes everything. Especially if it's positive, you're gonna notice things and ppl shifting around in your life. It goes against the grain. I hear so many ppl shout to mountains about their problems and issues. At that point and time I was really upset because I was like funny how some ppl are more concern with having babies than education. I'm not gonna knock my sister though cause despite having a baby she manage to get her masters degree that year. It just made me mad the lack of pats on the back when it came to me and my getting a university degree. But st the end of the day my immediate family (mom, dad, sister) were ALL so proud. And that and my own sense of pride is all that matters.

I have also learn that if you are happy for others when they accomplish great things then God will make sure that he also bring whaterver that you are asking him come to pass, that's why I don't get jealous of anyone because I always believe if God can do it for them he can also do it for me. alot of people may not know that being jealous or envy of someone you are just blocking your own blessing from God. So the buttom line is people need to quit the jealousy and envy it's not good for you.

I've dealt with anxiety as well, but coming to Durham, NC and leaving all my family and friends up in maryland, to go on the "journey", has toughen me up, and has given thicker skin.
But the BS does get upsetting at times.

That's how it is in the electrical field. It's mainly a white dominanted trade, and as a young black man, you have to really come into the field knowing your stuff. Sadly I deal with more discrimination from other black electricians in an open setting vs. whites, because they feel if they make look bad it helps them. The white electricians are sneaky about it, where they to set you up behind close doors. It's more about politics then anything, so you have to really know your stuff to survive.

I had 2 best friends one got jealous when I met my husband and the other one also got jealous when I bought my first house you could tell by her voice and her atitude. I drop both of them as friends cause a true friend will be happy for you. Another thing I stopped telling people what I plan on doing or what I hope to do.
