American comics: More proportional Characters have STRONG chizled faces with lots of muscles. Action sequences are epic as hell

the best manga artisit in my opinion, Shirow Masamune. best american (canadian actually lol) artist is Todd McFarlane. Naruto sucks js lol Bleach is cool, death note is cool, Appleseed, and my favorite, Ghost in the Shell. i love Spawn, Batman: Detective Comics, The amazing spiderman, Sin City, V for Vendetta. Watchmen is British ps.
I admit that anime looks pretty and the art style is well done (although, it doesn't appeal to me at all) but I don't actually remember every really loving an anime cartoon. Sure, the plots in anime are a lot deeper than in Western cartoons but the animation is really lacking and in a cartoon, the quality of animation is what you need to get down first.
Read a book if you want a good story. Watch a slideshow if you want pretty pictures but leave the animation to people who can actually ANIMATE.

Japanese cartoons (anime) have terrible animation quality it hurts the eye. In terms of animation American cartoons win hands down.
In terms of story I would it goes to japan mostly because cartoons here are considered for children so all the story goes into live action ><
In terms of art style...Meh. That's hard, that's really hard to say. Japan go for the more realistic approach, American goes for creative and unrealistic but still can pull off realism (justice league..etc.)

Now clearly while its still disputed how the example I'm about to use is manga it is believed that it is the basis for the right to left reading style which clearly shows manga being around since the 12th century in the form of scrolls. You're so right. There are a bunch on animes other than naruto and bleach. And death note is not only for emos. I myself prefer anime over cartoons. Some examples, death note, code geass, vampire knight, rurouni kenshin, d gray man, etc...(I've seen many more but just throwing these out.) And I do prefer the art style of anime because it's more detailed, and whatnot. But, i dont know if there is, but there could be really detailed cartoons. American cartoons are funny, its same for anime too.

Your points are very valid, but one problem still exists: Anime's animation isn't very daring and outlandish, and that many children are being sucked into this realm of limited creativity. You see, anime is making children stick to one style, rather than to use their imagination and branch off into something themselves. I feel as if it's a machine rather than an art.

To be honest I'm not sure why I like anime more then American (or British) cartoons, maybe I just like listening to the language, but I can't say that with manga! Mind you what helped me get into anime was probably getting back into liking animation, which probably started when I was watching W.I.T.C.H a few years ago and re-watching Digimon, and right now I've collection of anime on DVD and I've also recently purchased the first season of Avatar. Sadly Watchmen is the only US comic I've read.

Nick: You do recognize that you're comparing a series from 2008 to DBZ which came out in 1989. Anime will almost always have worse animation because they don't have the same amount of money that the Americans have.
I know, it was more a frame of reference for anyone that has yet to see that spiderman series and is similar to naruto fans saying DBZ has great animation. they may be great shows but a good deal of them, especally DBZ have a crappy buget. and I still wonder why for the most popular series at the time why it needed so many budget savers in every episode.
Well I can see why people would think comics are all superheros, like 90% of my collection is superheros and that other 10% is filled with zombies and secret agents. Even the WatchMen is filled with superheros (and don't lie you compare that to DeathNote all the time un our chats). I just could never really get into anime. I love the concept of heroes fighting evil too much, and their is not enough zombies in anime.

XD I'll be entirely honest when I say that I don't like American animation as much as I like anime. It is a preference, not a fact. I personally believe that the storytelling and the emotinal delivery in many of the Japanese cartoons I have seen are far more personal than in most American works. *shrugs* The entire point of this entry was that neither is superior. Now clearly while its still disputed how the example I'm about to use is manga it is believed that it is the basis for the right to left reading style which clearly shows manga being around since the 12th century in the form of scrolls. One example dates back to 1798 when the word manga first started being widely used in Japan.

So saying their would be no anime/manga without america is clearly bs considering before even the early stages of american comics were being made manga had already been produced. The modern form of manga wouldn't exsist if we hadn't occupied them is more correct than what you said.

Why can't we just like both? Each have pros and cons, neither is better than the other, they're just different. I like both, I love Marvel comics and I love manga. I LOVE Disney but I also love Princess Mononoke. There isn't anything wrong with either they are both good. Hell I even like the Winx Club and it's Italian. My point is why do we argue over something that is completely pointless? So long as you like what you're watching thats all that matters. It doesn't matter where it came from.

You're so right. There are a bunch on animes other than naruto and bleach. And death note is not only for emos. I myself prefer anime over cartoons. Some examples, death note, code geass, vampire knight, rurouni kenshin, d gray man, etc...(I've seen many more but just throwing these out.) And I do prefer the art style of anime because it's more detailed, and whatnot. But, i dont know if there is, but there could be really detailed cartoons. American cartoons are funny, its same for anime too.

Most cartoons don't really have a plot. It's just a different situation every episode.
Now anime gets you thinking what will happen next. Just think of it as a cartoonized drama.

Also, the show is way too dragged out. Hell, even MANGA fans tend to hate anime, even of shows that they like. However, I can't stand anime fans PERIOD.

I love cartoons cause if i miss a episode i dont have to watch it to catch up with the next and cartoons make me less stress and dont have cliff hangers but cartoons sometimes make me want to shoot the screen of my TV cause some of them makes no sense.

I can't stand the storytelling in anime, ESPECIALLY Japanese RPGs. It is awful. Most people that are hardcore anime fans are simply obsessed and/or in love with Japanese culture period.
Furthermore, anime is way too dragged out for the story-telling to be entertaining.

Your points are very valid, but one problem still exists: Anime's animation isn't very daring and outlandish, and that many children are being sucked into this realm of limited creativity. You see, anime is making children stick to one style, rather than to use their imagination and branch off into something themselves. I feel as if it's a machine rather than an art.

@PointsOfAuthority i agree with you sort off. it does seem like a lot of anime faces look alike and american stile comics and animation is more varied and looks real. Most of the none main streem anime like death note, tokyo 5.0, cowboy bebop, and east of eaden have very deep story and plot but that in no way goes for most of the anime. like a lot of other stuff mainstreem anime is very stale animation and story wise. ex naruto, bleach and gundum 00.

I know that. but then again the law can be said that 90% of shounen series are crap too. for thous series it's like a movie sequel, they make them into animes not only because they are popular, but alot can be longer than the usual one or two season run to make more money and if it's ongoing like Naruto all the better since that's episode after episode with guarenteed money. crap or not, loved or not, Naruto episodes get hundreds of thousands of hits a week from people all over the world.

To be honest I'm not sure why I like anime more then American (or British) cartoons, maybe I just like listening to the language, but I can't say that with manga! Mind you what helped me get into anime was probably getting back into liking animation, which probably started when I was watching W.I.T.C.H a few years ago and re-watching Digimon, and right now I've collection of anime on DVD and I've also recently purchased the first season of Avatar. Sadly Watchmen is the only US comic I've read.

Nick: You do recognize that you're comparing a series from 2008 to DBZ which came out in 1989. Anime will almost always have worse animation because they don't have the same amount of money that the Americans have.

I know, it was more a frame of reference for anyone that has yet to see that spiderman series and is similar to naruto fans saying DBZ has great animation. they may be great shows but a good deal of them, especally DBZ have a crappy buget. and I still wonder why for the most popular series at the time why it needed so many budget savers in every episode.

Well I can see why people would think comics are all superheros, like 90% of my collection is superheros and that other 10% is filled with zombies and secret agents. Even the WatchMen is filled with superheros (and don't lie you compare that to DeathNote all the time un our chats). I just could never really get into anime. I love the concept of heroes fighting evil too much, and their is not enough zombies in anime.

XD I'll be entirely honest when I say that I don't like American animation as much as I like anime. It is a preference, not a fact. I personally believe that the storytelling and the emotinal delivery in many of the Japanese cartoons I have seen are far more personal than in most American works. *shrugs* The entire point of this entry was that neither is superior. They are both great, and they are both terrible in their own ways. :) I do very much like American TV though.

In my opinion a single Marvel/DC animated show is better than 90% of worthless anime combined.
The "EMOTION" given in anime actually tends to be more annoying than pleasant. Worst case scenarios are a whining Japanese female that almost every anime show tends to have. And those crappy emo characters are why Japan RPG videogames have mediocre sales outside of asia.
A character "FLASHING in the middle of a fight for emotional stupidity is why anime has POOR RATINGS.
