i think they travelled back to the time when Dharma was still around before the purge from what it seems and in some behind the scenes photos it has sawyer, jin, sayid, kate and juliet just to name a few in Dharma jumpsuits at the Barracks.

when they got back on island was in past, and in episode 8 jin and the other survies cum up agenst the dharma and say there in it thats why jin was wearin a jacket cous in episode 8 on the lost wikipedia it says sawers liars 2 protect themselves from mistakes of the past
