The key is getting a good quality sharpener like the Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker and knowing how to use it properly. I know there are other sharpener that some will prefer but getting a decent sharpener will keep your blade sharp and your knife very functional and enjoyable to use. Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaws, SOGs, are some of the best knives around. Nice video, thumbs up.
I agree CRKT is a good value but, personally, I think the Ti-Lite is way over priced. I like my Kudu from Cold Steel: about 1/20 the price of a Ti-Lite, same scale material, excellent lockup, it can be made razor sharp and it will keep that edge quite a while. It is not a one-hander for opening, but I can live with it.
@lazarra101 Take a look at the sanrenmu knives. they are chinese made but they come from the same factory as most chinese buck, spyderco, boker etc. they also use the same steel. they are very cheap but can compete with a lot more pricy knives. but you do have to import them since they are only for the asian market ^^ i buy mine of ebay, i am from the eu and it takes only 2 weeks (most of the time) for my knives to get here. (i use them as beater knives)
@Gonen64 I live in canada, amd I can fill you in. Basically, that cold steel Ti-lite is a 4" model, which is legal in canada. Any longer and it is illegal to carry concealed. That being said, I carry my 6" Ti-lite everywhere. Best damn knife I have ever owned(and I own a lot). I suggest the real TiLite with the aluminum handle rather than the other modle with the plastic(i think they call it zypher or something). As far as leingth, it is up to the carrier. Just dont get searched with the 6"!
coold steel scimitar and spyderco military are my both knifes. for 2 awesome knifes. both about 200€ i even cut trees with them for firewood. i dont think that a cheap knife would do this over years. : )
When it comes to fixed blade knives, it's all but impossible to beat Mora of Sweden for overall performance at a great price. I did recently pick up a couple of Marttiini of Finland knives that I'm quite impressed with, both for under $25.00 each.
The less expensive knives are great for experimenting with, changing scales, file work or learning how to sharpen without messing up a good blade. Everyone should own a few.
@cutlerylover hey about the lock. you said that you dont realy need it if you handle it correct. but what if you stab something? you dont want to find out that the knife has trouble penetrating and closes on your fingers. so I think you do need a lock, always.
@xXxblqzxXx I agree a grand is a lot to spend, but if you take into account the amount of the work that goes into a hand made blade, it is worth it. You are buying a one of a kind functional work of art. Bargains can be found, but if you like it, it may be worth it to you.
I used to not care about knives, only guns. And then I got into butterfly knives and the name Benchmade got thrown up as a good butterfly knife mfg, now I have sunk $1200+ in knives in the past year thx to TNP and Cutlery Lover
@JDxBiUE Wrong. Spyderco manufactures all parts of their knives in Japan. They have a subsidiary corporation called byrd that uses parts made in Japan, but it is ASSEMBLED in china. SOG manufactures in america and Japan, Gerber and Kershaw both are all over the place, And Benchmade manufactured in Japan and assembled in america, with a few exceptions. So it is the opposite. Check the individual websites of these companies if you want any other information.
now i feel like a spoiled brat with mine ZT 0350... which costed me around 130 dollars, however i had it for almost a year and its a great knife and i love it
what do you think of the gerber 650? have used one for four years whacking and hacking and have gotten good service except i have to work pretty hard to put a good edge on it
@cutlerylover i wonder what your thoughts are on smith and wesson knives. i had one for a stretch of time till i traded it off (would have preferred to keep it but it was a really good deal and it was a deal breaker). it had a chisel edge and was very cheap ($5 new no joke). man i used to cut wire and card board plastic, you name it and it took it like a champ. good video, no doubt many have learned a thing or two from it.
@ssswami6998 Yes AUS8 is a good strong steel imho. vg10 is also a good steel, generally alittle more expensive. The nice thing about buying good brands like those listed in other posts is they almost always use good blades. Spyderco and Benchmade's steel picks are usually my favorites.
i prefer carbon steel blades to stainless because the carbon steel is easier to sharpen and also holds the edge and sharpness of the blade longer than stainless steel.
@Meixafuhellzman2 Kershaw... Victorinox.... Benchmade... Spyderco.... Much better knives in the affordable option category with far better steel and better designs. IMO.
As someone who's carried 30 dollars knives on a camping trip with guys using 300 dollar knives, I can tell you with absolute certainty that cost is NOT automatically an indicator of quality or utility. It has more to do with style and the economic situation. Same reason Glock can make quality guns at a low price.
Kershaw and Spyderco both make a line of reasonably priced folders that are well built, sturdy, and hold a good edge. Some are even truly rustproof if they use the right steel like H1.
not vertical, its side to side, and back and forth, vertical, or up and down blade play would be just that, the blade moving towards where the tip points
Might be that I had one when I was 10 yo. but as for as a cheep knife that works. You can get a buck 110 for $25- 35. works well. been around for ever. only big draw back is its thick. but on your belt? who cares? Umm I just got 12 of them for $100.. stocking stuffers this x-mas for a few friends
question: i was going to buy a knife that had a 2 1/2 in blade with 1 in serations but i chose to buy a knife with a 2 1/4 in blade without serations but it was well made but both of the knifes were folding knifes with ones better?
I just bought a Emerson Super CQC 7. and I am quite happy with it, if you do some math, my blade was $200. but a crappy $20 knife is going to break and be unreliable, how many times will you be replacing that $20 knife? and if shit happens 1 day you pull your crappy knife and use it the blade snaps off, or the lockup breaks and the blade comes down on your fingers then your sitting there with a bloody sliced open hand and a very pissed off attacker. not worth it IMO. always pays going w/ quality
In this day and age, price is not necessarily an indication of quality; some knives are quite pricey but really perform poorly. There are many very good knives, but there are many more that are garbage; you really have to know your stuff to avoid getting ripped off.
LOL to those that dont know knives. yes may be more expensive but wait until u actually get to experience with the knife and really know what the material it was made of. i end up buying a 4" it-lite after getting to mess around with one at work. the exact same one he has in the vid. look up cold steel ti-lite video and ull be amaze what that knife can actually do.
well im a knife collector and i have never spent over $100 on one knife and every one of them are good knives yes there are some i rather use then others just for safety like you were talking about i dont like a lot of blade play but i can deal with some now not all cheep knives are bad knives i bought a $1 dollar knife and it out lasted my $50 knife the $1 knife supposed to be a no brad piece of crap but it turned out better then my buck brand knife yes i know buck is also a cheepo but still
I think that a Good benchmade like a griptillian or 58x Is the only folder you would ever need.

@TheDonvinnie Yes, because the knife is actually a phone, and someone was calling him.

@TheDonvinnie 00:46 The knife shivered with excitement because it recieved praise from it's master.

This might be a stupid question, but what's the use of the holes in the hilts of those knives?
EclipseDante 7 months ago
@EclipseDante maybe it makes them more balanced?
AlcestemoliereS 7 months ago
@EclipseDante i would guess that it makes a little more grip than a smooth handle but also it reduces weight by removing material
