Bea Arthur was so funny. We don't have funny ladies in entertainment anymore. I'll take Bea, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and Vicki Lawrence any day over these plastic barbie dolls with no personality.
Bea Arthur was something else. She was the perfect foil to Archie, a perfect casting job. She always gave her parts everything she could. That's why we love her and continue to enjoy her. There may not be another quite like her ever again. She was indeed, something really special on television!
Even thou I am 19, I enjoy this show and shows like M*A*S*H, Sanford & Son and Good Times because this is great televison. I wish people my age would watch shows like these because they are alot better then most of the crap on TV now. Even thou they sometimes touched on touchy issues like Rape, Sexual Preference and Racism you still learned. And Carroll O' Connor, Bea Arthur and Jean Stapleton are three of the best actors ever
@3fan4eva Some shows are still good like Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.Most shows nowadays are crap tho.SNL to me hasnt been funny since 1995
The scene where Archie and Maude are arguing about FDR is a bit edited which I know because of time constraints, but as they continue after Archie talks about Elenore Roosevelt they start to argue about World War 2 and FDR's role in that and eventually Archie says "I don't want to argue with you no more Maude...AND I GOT MY CHAIR BACK!" as he quickly sits down with a smug look on his face...
@Annarocks1969 That quote that Maude made to Archie about the Cream of Wheat with Cheese is Hilarious:
"Archie, you can either get up and eat breakfast, or lie there, feeding off your own fat. And if you choose the latter, you could probably lie there for months."
Hilarious.. I remember watching this episode as a kid... laughing my ass off. I LOVED Maude! This was really a ground-breaking show in the early 70's...talent abounded! What ever happened to tv? It truly blows today..
'70s series like The Jeffersons, Rhoda, Good Times, What's Happening, All in the Family, Maude, and Sanford and Son are the best. TV today sucks. I'm so sick of reality-TV junk.
@atrocchia The 70s series were excellent and the 80s were pretty good too. You had The Facts Of Life, Gimme A Break, Mr.Belvedere, Alf, 227, The Golden Girls, Hill Street Blues, Family Ties, Different Strokes, The Cosby Show and many more.
"Cream of Wheat and cheese???!!! Wrong again MAUDE!" and "I hoid ya...so did every moose up in Canada." Priceless. What if they had made Maude Archie's wife, instead of Edith? Think it would've worked over the long haul? Two Hall of Fame actors going at it, toe to toe, every week? Wow.
Video gems like this one should be testament to how good TV USED to be, instead of the 98% crap the Networks pass off as programming in today's world.
"Now u can ethier come to the table and eat or u could lie there and feed off your own fat"...lmao
Dear Bea, Thank you for being a friend. I still watch The Golden Girls and I will we never for get you. Thank you for the laughs, you was such a wonderful person...I will never forget you...luv ya muahhh
I am SOO sad about Bea Arthur's death!! I'm 19, and I have been religiously watching The Golden Girls since I was at least 5....and Dorothy has always been my favorite Golden Girl!! And she was such a wonderful person, not to mention an extraordinary actress!! We'll all miss you!! Thank you for all the laughs!! And of course, Thank You for Being a Friend!! Love you!!<33 R.I.P Bea Arthur(Pussycat)!!
Gotta love Maude Finlay....she was the only woman who could put Archie Bunker in his place. Thank you Bea, for giving us this funny, intelligent, assertive, innovative character. I can honeslty add another verse to your theme song: Bea Arthur puts feminism on TV/Didn't care what the Man said.......
this is great. bea arthur will surely be missed. does anyone know why the press didnt cover the story of her death as much as that of estelle getty's?
When stars die on the weekend, most shows are not live so on Monday is when you'll see all the tributes. I'll be watching them all for this great comedy icon. R.I.P.
Jeez, Maude you already buried two husbands, ain't that enough killing for ya? LMAO!!!

ARCHIE go ait one more time and then
come to terms with other after EDITH's
passing. If only the made a special one
hour show of MAUDE returning after the
passing away of EDITH.
