SOme argue this isn't a direct sequal...but more of something to prepare the fans for what is going to occur in the ditrect sequal. I have really no graeter opinion on this game or its predesessor. I was unfortunatly unable to locate the original Tales of Symphonia so I couldn't play it.

I like to compare Emil & Ratatosk Mode Emil to Yugi & Atem from Yu-Gi-Oh, it's the same relationship. Wimp of a nice guy starts as a butt monkey, gains a superpowered evil side, goes on various adventures assisted by said evil side, and eventually takes a level in badass so he doesn't need that evil side anymore.

I guess my problems about this game were that they didn't hire back the previous voice actors and the fact that once you have a Ravenous on your side...you win...hands down.

Ravenous + Upgraded Demon Fang = I beat the game in 25 hours. ;_;

Legend of Zelda twilight princess was good. that was about 50 hours or so...

I don't like the map thing that much.... I was sorta looking forward 2 walking thru really nice looking scenery and all that.....

I wish you could choose whether u want 2 walk there or just skip it.... (T_T)

I quite agree with you. While it certainly is not as good as the first game, it's amazing just how good a game it is considering that these direct sequels tend to rather sub-par. I'm honestly quite surprised at how polarizing this game is to the fandom. You'd think that anyone who loved the first ToS will also love DotNW.

The GC version is better but the sequal is so great that I played this over 8 times without getting bored. Best Wii game purchase I've ever played and I got it for only 40 bucks. Also yay you can skip cutscenes you've already seen.

Say I've been a tales of symphonia and other tales games addict and I'd say this one was one of the best I've ever played. Not only that they gave you the option to use monsters they also added some new stuff like the music and the very hilarious skits. Personally I love, and it's not a judge at first 10 minuites game :)

Personaly i really liked ToS1

I mean REALLY liked it ... It didnt do much new but thats one of the main reasons i enjoyed it so much, it was during a time when i was losing interest in Rpgs and it reminded me why i loved them in the first place.

Nowdays it can seem "uncool" to like it the same way liking FF7 is "uncool",

sorry bout the rant, but yes this game looks interesting, It will be nice to revisit the old towns and bask in the nostalgia.

i never played the first TOS game but then i just recently got this game for Christmas and beat it in 5 days after 25 and a half hours of gameplay...best 25 and a half hours of my life EVER!!!! This game is the best, its awesome, and you dont even really have to know the original story line to actually play this game, and this game's storyline is awesome in my opinion. It's definately worth it's cheap price of 40 dollars in the US.

Depends how quick you are with RPGs. It took me 40 hours to finish, but thats still a very long time for me. Is dawn of the new world a good follow up? I wouldn't know yet because I am in a PAL area so the games not even out here till the second half of this year =(

You should get the Homebrew channel so that you can play imported games, and not have to wait for the games to be developed for your region :D

@SilverLance2011 That's true but let me tell you something, If you love this game even the way it is then you will LOVE EVEN MORE the first one on gamecube cause the original is way longer (like 60 hrs without sidequests), has ones of the best cellshading graphics ever, and has some other things that make it more hard and deep. But anyways, this is a very good sequel that is just sweet.

the big thing people have to remember is that the first TOS is great and they actually changed alot in the second so the reason why others may say this isnt that good is because they changed alot so in a way its a bit different than the first. This game is another really good Tales game and I think its just as great as the first but only because its a tales game people expect so much from this because its the sequal but the first is great and so is this one.

I concur, the unique additions like the battle system, Cooking, etc etc Are out, and that's why some people rejected this game. The developers heard their pleas for change in certain areas of the game for the sequel (ie. The battle system), and although they exceeded expectations, they also "Ruined" what was good about the first game
