The middle class as an entirety fits the description well as those who try to live up to the lifestyles who the rich and powerful. Whether it be someone as simple as what you talk about.
I think the best thing to do is to ignore the media that hypes their lifestyles up to be glamorous, and their images to be flawless. The general public in turn sees this and some feel as if they have to have their image be similar to someone they may have seen in a magazine article or on TV. All of this stems from the bourgeoisie. Karl Marx's theory describes this class of people as those who basically set the trend for what individuals who are easily manipulated seek to imitate.
Totally agree. BTW have you seen the "How to trick people into thinking you're good looking" video? There are some really weird standards of "beauty" nowadays. About Cheryl Cole... I just saw a photo of her today for the first time and I don't get the hype. I mean she's pretty, but I don't find her interesting. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, make-up or no make-up, I find you far more interesting. Oh, and I love your accent.
