where did you buy the equipment for bikejoring? i would like to do this with my husky but i don't know what kind of equipment is it cuz i realized that it's not a regular harness and also the leash is thick too so have any advice to where i can get something like that? j/w
@benfnyn i don't know of anywhere in Toronto either, mail order is your best bet probably. do a google search for skijornow and nooksackracing, both sell great equipment and ship to canada.
Do a google search for "toronto beltline trail". You can access it in several spots, and is a great joring path. I can get from North York (ie glencairn subway) all the way to the brickworks (near sherborne station). It's probably your best joring path in the downtown area. Have fun!
No special bike required, just a harness and a bungee cord (special cord - don't use a normal leash cord). Also, be sure to purchase a harness designed for pulling - don't use any other type of harness.

@Shoua68Mommy google "skijornow" and "nooksack racing" for two very good mail-order sites. That's where we ordered all of our equipment from.

I don't suppose you know of any good joring areas close to downtown Toronto right?
Tsanalretentive 2 years ago
what's your defnition of downtown? there are a few places I can recommend depending on your "limit" re: distance from downtown...
xhumeka 2 years ago
Within TTC distance, or close to college station (max 2 hr walk...)
Dunno if this is specific enough but do list some places you may know outside of that range anyway.
Also, many many thanks.

Do you need a special bike to do joring? or just the harness?

@Tsanalretentive Also , Unlike in this video, Don't do it on a hot day! and when your dog is panting like in THIS video give the dog a rest!!
Also unlike in this video don't take your dog out on such tracks that WILL damage its paws!!!
Not sure about in Canada but here in the UK only Huskies and Malamutes can be used for pulling!!
Any other breed of dog and you would have the RSPCA after you!!
