@TheQneb i know its like that in a regular car, but f1 cars in the 80s had a turbo button that acted in a similar way to kers does in todays f1 ie: more speed.. i know its not the same thing but its similar so called 'easy passing', sorry, should have explained slightly more :P
This was the year when real overtakes happened. Not like now. But then I said the same thing in 2009, and 2007, and I could go on, I could complain about how shit modern F1 is, but there is a reason why I and lots of us are here on this video, - because we still enjoy it, and we will realize how good these years of f1 are in the future.
kobayashi really knows how to drive and handle through the corners, but he just isn't blessed with a faster car. and i think that is what keeps him in the position he is in.
This is another example of what makes Kobayashi such fun to watch. Not only is he aggressive and willing to pass where others won't, but he's also a gentleman on the track. He doesn't run other drivers off the road (his passes at Suzuka, his pass of Alonso in Brazil, etc.). And against Raikkonen in this video, KK gives RK enough room to get by in every corner and straight - even when he doesn't have to.
It makes you wish more drivers behaved the same way.
With the departure of Petrov from the grid, which of these chaps will be Kobayashi's new buddy/buddies in the paddock/on driver's parade truck? Perez prefers to be around the Spanish speaking hombres and you know it.
great video really hoping kimi comes back to F1 where he belongs shame about the dropout when kimi dived to the inside at the start but top vid shame its not a bit longer :)
Kimi made a mistake at 0:03, should have gone for the inside (left). And again at 0:18 (although there initially was no room on the left). It was obvious that the Toyota's straightline speed was too high - no passing possible from the outside. Still, if this was a Hamilton video, we'd see a "nice" crash and "someone" getting sad he disappointed the team... :-) EXCELLENT GENTLEMAN DRIVING FROM MR. KIMI RAIKKONEN!!! Being a good guy was his weakest point. But he gets my total respect for that!
@kimi450 Both could save up KERS and use them. If DRS was allowed on all straights during the race then DRS wouldn't be fake racing. Used whenever the driver was able.
Then F1 would be useful as it would be testing DRS opening and closing every few seconds for 70 laps.
@nagasako7 not really, the drs still requires the driver to get up close to the one in front within a second plus the other driver can defend with kers, i will admit though that there were a couple of tracks where drs took the piss
@nagasako7 I blame the xbox generation for getting bored with there being no overtaking. They changed the look of the cars from true beautiful looking cars to todays ugly looking things and then when that doesn't work well enough they had push to pass button 1 and push to pass button 2.
Take me back to the "boring" 2007's and 2008's with proper looking F1 cars please
@atomicR4GER Passing buttons are ridiclouse, even a slow dumb fuck will overtake with them.. I dont see how it makes drivers have a skill fight when other 1 has huge advantage
@TheQneb You realise back in the 80's when everything was apparently amazing in F1 and it was real skill and everyone overtook, that there was turbo buttons that basically did what KERS does now?
@MaNiAcOwNeR Turbo isnt actviated by a button. Its "allways on", you can just choose what RPM it stars on.. Got one.. What same there is in turbo and kers? basicly? No theres nothing same if you have turbo-engine or kers in your car?
@jeanclaude780 No, Kimi drove well, but Kobayashi just outsmarted the Finn on this occasion...Appreciate the novice's phenomenal defending instead of making it look like it was all the car's fault.
