There is nothing wrong with an artist recording their own version of someone elses' song..it gives praise to that original song and artist and it helps to keep the flame burning on the life of the song as well. This came up in my "recommended" videos today... The sound/image quality is as bad as it gets on YouTube, so it pretty much screams "REUPLOAD ME" (unless the crappy quality is in the source video already?).
Also, wow, the song is *amazingly* boring: for a non-native speaker there is nothing to hold on to beyond, say, half a minute. Looks like a wasted opportunity of a cover: maybe Lily could have delivered on this on a better day, or maybe she just shouldn't be allowed to do that kind of stuff.
i love lily & she can sing anything she fancy's, but this wasnt very good. she's simultaneously unsure of herself, bored in parts & rushed thru the song. also, it has none of the pathos of the original, nor the cocksure brattiness of good lily music.

This came up in my "recommended" videos today... The sound/image quality is as bad as it gets on YouTube, so it pretty much screams "REUPLOAD ME" (unless the crappy quality is in the source video already?).
Also, wow, the song is *amazingly* boring: for a non-native speaker there is nothing to hold on to beyond, say, half a minute. Looks like a wasted opportunity of a cover: maybe Lily could have delivered on this on a better day, or maybe she just shouldn't be allowed to do that kind of stuff.

Couldnt agree more about the quality blowing.
The video was made for yahoo and as you can tell by her ethusism she wasnt to excited about doing it.
Its a fairly decent cover in her style of music.
Btw the source materally barely sounds better than this, I cant believe yahoo has such a shitty sounding version of a song on there offical site.

i love lily & she can sing anything she fancy's, but this wasnt very good. she's simultaneously unsure of herself, bored in parts & rushed thru the song. also, it has none of the pathos of the original, nor the cocksure brattiness of good lily music.

Lily has a great voice and does a great intepretation of this classic, the fact that the song is by definition a story from a man's point of view is problematic. I guess we should just take it as a woman sings the sad lament of a man...love gone wrong...you know...
