  • Why keep the head up during the pushup? Some would say that's bad form

  • lol, I can do the rope climb with no legs at all...

  • budeget cuts? so they have make fitness dvds to fund the seals. the army sucks without war

  • That's not a workout. That's like a warm-up and a little bit.

  • Climbing a 20ft rope is not the same as doing 15 pullups. Not even close.

Second, doing 250 air squats is going to destroy you if you've never done this. You are better off doing weight lunges. Your hips will thank you.

  • Isn't this the guy from the PS2 SOCOM 1 documentary?

  • @BrandonSaldana Yes he is

  • Surely they MUST mean elite warrior or weekend athlete... :P

  • i don't think that short rope equals 15 pull ups.

  • @atromos I agree with you. The rope uses mainly your legs with a tiny bit of shoulders, the pull-ups are ALOT harder Haha

  • Instrutor Otten is well spoken and all right to look at too!

  • I'd really love to see the reactions of the Navy people who manage these videos when the read the top comments.

  • Why is the camera keep going to the butt?

  • @bastian1010 what? why a penis?

  • @drastaify Like a massive erection? Thats what I need.

  • I'm definitely going to do this next time I'm at the Gym.

  • I just realised how useless all other workout, training and weight loss vids on Youtube are. This is the real deal, You'll FEEL it on Day 1!

  • @playsbba018

shut up you haven't been to BUDS and if you have you failed.

  • @JayPull85 jealous?

  • @playsbba018 Not that I could do that... but you do realise 110 in 2 minutes is a lesser rate than 70 in 1? Maybe you could have done 110 in 2 all along :)

  • @DynastyLang I love the 472 earth downs :) LOL

  • Its funny how they make the instructors look so nice and surfer cool like...Not the case when you get there thats for sure.

  • he seems to be nice on television but in fact he is an ass. what do you know he is an SEAL instructor after all !!!!

  • where the hell do you find a rope like that?

  • the scary part about this work out is that it is "basic 101", if 5 rounds of that are basic then what does advanced look like?

  • @snamone you gotta climb a mountain do 300 pushups&200 air squats for one lol

  • this kid is a beast...nice work

  • Hoo-yah!

  • this is nothing every morning when i wake up i benchpress my bed 600 times then do 5, 30 mile sprints and then do 300 squats lifting a full grown black angus steer. then when im done i eat the steer.

  • @DynastyLang yeah thats a pretty good warm up. i sprint around the earth 7 times then do 50 jump squats to the sun followed by 472 earth downs all while holding my breath and being mauled by 4 black bears. then i flap my arms fast enough to become airborne and then fly around until i find an airplane. i then grab the airplane and stay aibone by blinking faster than the speed of light. hold the airplane for three minutes and rest twenty seconds for five reps. then do everything three more times.

  • @DynastyLang I hope medium rare or ground into delicious breakfast sausages. You must have a LOT of cattle!

  • @DynastyLang if you could DEADLIFT 600 times I'd be impressed.

  • @DynastyLang --is that it? That is almost as much as my warm up!

  • Respond to this video... Excellent vid.

  • @DynastyLang But you never operate an m14 whilst quietly ascending from 60 feet underwater after 24 hours of being dehydrated and under miserable conditions. Bearing in mind the tactical assault which you will execute within 15 minutes considering the flanking capabilities of a militia a few yards away. Trying to suppress the idea of having to organize your youngest daughter's bday the next day.

Dude, just keep you jock muscles to yourself, nobody here wants to know.

  • is it safe to say that atleast 80,000 views of this video are just repeats?

  • 50 pushups i can't even do 35 i can only do 25! im 13 and im an athlete! for highjump so don't call me fat!

  • @animecollector5555 13 year olds aren;t suppose to be doing 30 push ups lol

  • @animecollector5555 when i was 12 i could do 45 pushups now i cant XD got lazy....

  • @animecollector5555 hey fatso

  • this is not the real Navy life this is for fat americans

  • nice, gonna start doing that

  • he was kipping them pullups

  • @idealano in the SEAL pullup you go up untill your upper cheast touches the bar, instead of just the chin

  • 2:07 halo anyone?

  • Id rather do the rope than the pull ups thats for damn sure

  • @BlackOpsStevo haha nooo....

  • Is very important the physical condition because if you have this you're a machine the war

  • Does anyone know if Navy Seals approve/disapprove of doing reps till muscle failure?

  • this is a pretty funny series becuase you watch these videos ad theyre all nice, and then you actually go join the seals an theyre like "GET DOWN BITCH!" hahaha

  • @bastian1010 thats the funniest line i've heard all year! HA HA HAHA ++HA HA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, Lock and pull

  • there is no specific exercise that focuses just on stabilizer muscles. stabilizer muscles are every muscle in your body that stabilize a joint. every one of your delt heads are stabilizer muscles. whether you use dbs, bbs, machines... everything works stabilizer muscles.. no swiss ball or stupid shit is going to work them more than anything else... all that shit down is work your coordination but also makes you reduce workload so in turn your actually working the muscle less harder than normal

  • The seals sure are hangin in there with the old woodland pattern. Its a wonder all the branches didn't keep it. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

  • @ArmoredSheepdog this video is from 08, pre blue digi cams.

  • breaking the plane of your knees is the absolute worst thing you can do for your knees....The S.E.A.Ls know this so do all the other branches. I've blown my right knee out doing it that way....doing it this way isn't tuff it's stupid.

  • @Greenmarine6 maybe you did it wrong?

  • whatever they do in this video is probably 1000x harder for the real thing lol

  • i dont need the lock

  • @Curlyfunksta How are pushups on your palms bad for you? thousands of Navy SEALs, rangers, green berets, and casual joe's have been doing them that way for decades! If it was bad for you I don't think people would still be doing them. How is doing them on your knuckles any safer?

  • @hollowichi7 don't know if the're bad for you, but i really prefer using the perfect pushup handles for pushups. much more comfortable than regular pushup and you get a better range. they were invented by a navy seal too and no, i dont work for the company; just like em

  • @hollowichi7 They put strain on the wrists, it's better to make a fist and do push ups or grip a dumbbell with each hand. Your knuckles won't take near as much wear and tear compared to your wrists, they'll probably just callus over. Isn't this obvious?

  • @MoveOnDotOrgg What are you on about?

  • I noticed you doing push-ups on the palm of your hands. it can lead to wrist injuries doing it like that, on your knuckles is better

  • @Curlyfunksta You don't know anything do you?

  • why dont the marines do pullups? they call them pull ups but their actualy chin ups

  • @BustaMonkey1234

We do both. A chin-up is done with a supinated grip towards the body. A pull-up is with a pronated grip away from the body. The official order on United States Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test: Marine Corps Order (MCO) 6100.12 Chapter 2 Section 2101.1.a.(4) "The bar must be grasped with both palms facing either forward or to the rear."

  • @BustaMonkey1234

However, the order does require that only the chin has to be raised over the bar for it the repetition to count; maybe this is what you are referring to. In which case I must ask: can you do a full set of 20 pull-ups/chin-ups as outlined in the order above?

  • @MojaveViper no i can do about 13 pullups, fingers faceing away from the body, :P

  • seal pull ups go up to the chest. reg pull ups only go to just above the chin

  • now that is a simple great workout!

  • I would add that since pullups are difficult for most people beginning a workout routine you can either 1) use a chair (or other stabilizer) to get yourself over the bar and lower yourself as "slowly" as possible, or 2) do wide grip pulldowns. Try to do at least one pullup a day though for improvement:)

  • Anyone ever notice guys who mess with weights and all that look like shit half the time but guys who climb ropes are always in great shape?

  • @hrhadam yeah cuz those guys who mess with weights eat fast food thinking it gives them protein (which is does but along with mass amounts of fat) and forget about being lean.

  • How high is the rope climb?

  • wtf what´s the point in using the lock while climbing the rope ? -.-

  • @Odium1002 He's pulling himself higher and he doesnt go so far down as to lock his elbows.

  • @Odium1002 Have you ever climbed a rope?

  • @hrhadam Do you realy think i would search for rope climbing videos if i haven´t :D.

I buyed one a while ago and hung it up at a tree in my garden. And climbing it with the footlock is not as much of a training than doing it just with the arms.

    Although i can´t do a rope climb and 30 pushups afterwards :D

  • I don't see what the difference between the SEAL pull up and the gym pull up. Can anyone fill me in?

  • hes a man of steel! i got tired just watching lol

  • I just did this workout for time. It took me a little less then 10 min. with a 15ft rope.

  • it looked like the "seal pullups" were kipping pull ups, nice!

  • is it me or did it seem like he was worn out after he got done with those squats? lol

  • i dont see a difference between "seal" and normal pull up =S

  • @00Avenger17 The SEAL pull-up had a "kipping" motion to it....Note the excessive swining

  • kipping motion? =S

  • I don't understand what =S means dude

  • =S that is the symbol many pple like to use for the emotion "confused" it stems from other smiley emotions such as =P.

  • @00Avenger17 My bad, Kipping is a swinging motion used when do pull-ups.

throw your hips back and swing your legs forward as you execute the pull motion.......It makes it easier cuz your cheating

  • It's also called a kip pullup, it's more momentum-based then just the straight up-and-down motion of a normal pull up.

  • thx im only doing navy seal pull ups now =P

  • @00Avenger17 pull up to your nipple line

  • oky =) will do xD

  • solid workout. Wish I had a rope! LOL

  • @tylercaie who the narrator?

  • isn't this the same SEAL as in the SOCOM 1 documentary?

  • I'm confused, what is the difference between the regular pull-up and the seal pull-up. It just seems like hes doing the seal ones in quicker succession.

  • They raise higher. Theres no other difference.

  • a seal pull up he doesn't extend all the way down and holds himself from extending all the way down as the regular pull up does

  • @ThePresident150 It looks like more of a lean-away chin

  • 5 sets of this are good

  • @Spawn223311 yeah dude right now i can only do like 3 sets. It's no lie this is a raw tough workout. I'll eventually be able to do 5 though.

  • hey dipshits go to buds and some them or shut up!!!

  • why are the navy seal pull ups given a fancey name they are just poorly executed jerked pull ups the full lock pull ups are mutch harder and will get you in better shape

  • Not to be rude but watch carefully. Its like the difference between doing a regular pushup and an "incorrect form" clap pushup. No matter how much you cheat its still much harder. You can see he pulls himself 6 inches above the bar. Much harder.

  • he gos the same height with the normal pull ups because he goes untill his chest touches the bar like youre supposed to

but i tried the other ones before and they are harder so i take it back :)

  • Pause at 2:23 then at 2:33. I you do it at the apex you can tell there is a good 4 or 5 inch difference. This is not a shot against you so please don't get personal.

  • not really any need for that comment as i agreed that they wher harder in my last comment but ther is no difference in height

  • I agree!

  • Yeah, I'm sure a random guy on the internet knows more about functional strength conditioning than the navy seals.

  • i did a national diploma in sports science and im hoping to become a pt instructer in the british army

  • Congratulations. It doesn't seem so from your comments though. Back to school.

  • @quathar lol

  • @quathar this is a really, really simple version of all the stuff they really do. GO NAVY!

  • @quathar The Channel belongs to the US navy

  • Uh, he does lock out when he does the second set.

  • i dont see a difference in pullups

  • im not going on looks, when hes doing the pull ups it l;ooks like hes having a hard time, I know seals are on a whole different level both phsically and mentally than 95 percent of people in the world, i dont have any illusions or delusion that I am better than a seal

  • lol -.- stop showing off and try diss a navy seal

  • Comment removed

  • Lmao are you a Navy Seal?

  • LOL. get off the internet

  • i didnt see a difference between a seal pull up and a gym pull up anyone see the difference?

  • doesnt look like that guy could get 15 pull up

  • Do you have any knowledge whatsoever about SEALs?

  • Geobros.... do not go on looks. its all in the head. the difference between you and Steve is .....steve would party all night with double Jack/cokes and would still do the routine without a problem , while couldn't do it even when you are sober.

Go watch SEALclass 234 and you will be surprised what they have to go thru. and if you have 6/6 eye vison you may even sopt Steven :)

  • his voice + bgm makes me feel like Billy Mays is selling me something

  • Im in the Army and my advice to kids going into any branch in the military is this... Run. Thats all im gonna say. hahaha

  • This is funny! watch all the youngsters do this and think they are ready for the service and sign up! boy r they in for a surprise hahaha!

  • very true

  • im trying to increase my push up max, i can do 120 but i wanna do more!! any tips on that?

  • 300MUSIC - Buy a product called "Perfect Pushup" - you can get it at Walmart for about 20-25 bucks.

  • I can do 40 and can't do any more either

  • @300MUSIC

    yep, get a life

  • I do have a life, a high school life where I get smart as well as in JROTC where my physical fitness is important. And after that, my life will hopefully be SEALs if I'm lucky.

  • @300MUSIC how old are you? unless your in senior year, quit worrying about making the seals

  • @BlinkElement well i'm 17 in junior year. and why should I stop worrying? are you saying I won't make the seals?

  • that would take me all day...

  • Damn I need to get off my fat lazy ass and go grunt it out.

  • OOOOKAY... that's unbelievable... That guy is some mad fitness dude!

  • GOD that must burn. I totally want to build up to this one day!!! Awesome!

  • That was a fun course we did ARC there and that O course was a blast.

  • hahaha o lord

  • These videos only claim to make you a better athlete, not a SEAL. There's no real way to train for the psychological rigors of BUD/s. Think before you speak, Ricky dick.

  • Been to Bud/s champ. "psychological rigors" lol. There's two people who speak like that.

    1) Civilians who's only perception of buds is what they hear on the discovery channel.

    2) someone who's been, and is overexaggerating to make it sound like the igogi.

there are absolutely ways to train. it is tough mentally, but proper training will make the difference between having a body that's strong enough, or letting your body make your mental strength irrelevant.

Don't speak til you've been there.

  • I know that there are physical ways to train, but my point was that video training on Youtube is not gonna get you through BUD/s. These videos don't claim to make you a SEAL (a fact that you conveniently left out). The team guys I know (one my baseball coach, another an Academy friend of mine) said that BUD/s makes you ask yourself why you want it. If that's not "psychological rigor" then nothing is.

  • I'm just sayin...leave it to the navy to make a video of blindingly obvious exercises to do. and the rope climb...come on. who has a rope??

  • Lol maybe the Navy just wants to show off those hot SEAL bodies...

  • ha, I wouldn't put it past them.

  • Squats are for ?? Thighs?

  • squats are for your glutes or in other words your "butt" but they are a very good workout especially if you run cross country and for running up hill

  • is it bad to do more than say... 50 pushups? I heard from someone that anywhere more than a certain amount of reps engages you in aerobics training and causes cortisol and possibly a set of different hormones in your body that prevents you from gaining muscle? is that true?

  • Hard to say about the cortisol. You may be able to find some university studies. From my personal experience, I think think pushups train you more in endurance than strength. You reach a point with pullups, dips and pushups, then after that you need heavy weights to increase strength.

  • NO!!!

  • I cant understand why they would have guys wearing out their knees doing all these squats when they could just sub flutter kicks... These guys are unreliable anyways because they change the damn routines every few years.Flavor of the moment stuff.

  • It's not all that bad because trust me, most of the people on this Earth can't even do 20 push ups without struggling. Some can't do one. Squats aren't all that bad for you. Yes it is bad for the knees when you're a beginner. But it's pretty good. You have to do a lot more than this stuff if you want to be in SEAL shape though.

  • flutter kicks have nothing to do with the muscles you workout with squats.

squats when performed correctly are great for your knees. people were made to squat.

  • "Great for your knees"! Hahaha People are made to "Be able to do" squats would be more accurate no? Explain the science behind "squats are great for your knees". Doing a certain amount wont damage you, but over time, they absolutely wear and tear on your knees more than most other exercises.

  • its exercising your full range of motion on the knee and strengthening the tendons and the joint. which equals a safer knee. Going only to parallel hurts the shit out of your knee though.

  • Interesting to be sure. After reading up on it the past couple of days, it seems that what you are saying is true for some people and squats actually help your knees. For other people they do damage your knees. It seems to depend on an individuals body and how they are built.

  • yea it depends of the individuals body because the mechanics of the squat are different for almost everyone, that's why its so hard to learn correctly.

  • You are 18 years old telling me?! HAHAHAHA Talk to me in 10-15 years kid.

  • care

  • @ChillMB , do you have scientific proof that squats absolutely wear and tear your knees more than most other exercises? Don't believe the hype or myths. If so, why do physical therapist who've gone through PT certification recommend squats?

  • @MMAbadboy i agree, with you. there is not really a better exercise for your legs than squats. most people's problem is that their technique is terrible (knees coming too far forward, coming up on toes, etc..). I am a CSCS, i work with PTs ATs and fitness trainers and they will all say the same. if you have knee problems when doing squats talk with a trainer and learn proper form first

  • @ChillMB that is the biggest misconception that was generated by ONE dr during the 80's. Squats are EXCELLENT for the knees as it builds the stabilizer muscles surrounding the knee. Just don't over extend past the toes and you're fine. My physical therapist had me do one legged squats which were claimed by him to be the best for leg strengthening.

  • The 2 kinds of pullups were exactly the same..... And on the real that workout is pussy. The guy I train with we do 20 pullups with a bit wider grip, 20 dips, 50 situps, 25 flutter kicks and 20 pushups with our feet elevated at 45 degrees.

I dont see how doing 15 pullups, 30 pushups and 50 NO WEIGHT squats 5 sets is going to help you much at all with strength. It sounds like a decent cardio workout for a prerun warmup or heavy lifting. Thats it.

    Honestly I dont see how
