This is amazing and always will be, Prodigy are timeless, hard to believe this is nearly 20 years old. People just don't understand what goes into it, all the different layers carefully and deliberately made to sound like nothing else that has or will ever exist. Pure genius. No one will ever compare!
My mum bought me this cd at age of 6... This is what got me into music, it's my favorite album EVER! I am pretty sure it samples bits of the Hotpants break (snares) and a bit of The Shamen - Hyperreal Selector (the chikachika part). Liam also used it in Out Of Space :)
If I ever need a pacemaker, I will convince the doctor that the Break and enter rhythm is the optimal for my well being... The MFTJG album is among the best that has happened to me.
Oh the memories of the 90's...I was around 17 when I heard this band...we were driving around with my friends in my father's car...playing a Prodigy tape on the car stereo, oh those were the days. I'm 34 now I still like to party.
My dads ex womans daughter listened to the prodigy, I was around 11 years old & visiting my dad in Wiltshire, obsessed with UFO's, etc, my dad had arranged for me to see a UFOigist, I was well happy and the prodigy kind of had an alien sound to it, and was being played every day in the house by my step sister. I loved it and knicked her 'Cassette' tape and listened to t throughout my whole stay! That was 18 years ago - AND I STILL FUCKING LOVE EM!!!
@guitarhunter94 There are lots of skill in keeping a sampler/sequencer going while bashing out a synth riff on a neat Korg or Yamaha. I feel sorry for your sons. Rock is just a lot of horrible noise, there are few exceptions. Beleve you me, I have seen what today is real shit, and this isn't. All modern popular music, for example is shit.
I hate rap/hip hop, I don't really like the "hooked on drugs"/"spaced out" DJ rythms that pour out of clubs. But I know this is real, and effort went into it.
@VTS1337 How would you respond to someone saying that Break and Enter was just a load of noise? All modern music for example, is shit? Both very narrow minded opinions. While I love the Prodigy I don't dismiss everything else that music has to offer. Just because you think rock is a load of noise doesn't mean there isn't great skill involved in some of it. Just as much as "keeping a sampler/sequencer going while basing out a synth riff".
I agree with you! In last year nobody knew about The Prodigy (it was 7th class, i was a real fan of The Prodigy). Now I heard that 2 faggots from my class were listening to The Prodigy. I asked them "what is your favourite song?" Or "how long do you hear Prodigy?" They said that IMD is the only song that they know and it rullz (i don't like new prodigy, now they are so commercial). Around 2 weeks after that one of that 2 faggots in english lesson said me "The Prodigy rocks"! I wanted to beat him
@kristapuciitis hahaha, when I was a kid, prodigy was huuuuge. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing breathe or firestarter somewhere. I'm more shocked when people can name newer songs over the old ones.
For me this is their best track, and Smack my Bitch Up comes second .I consider their first 3 albums to be masterpieces of electronic music...AONO and Invaders were good but didn't even come close to the 90s albums!

@Kris28000 I know what ya mean. I deal with it all the time. people who claim to be huge die-hard Prodigy fans that tell me I've put a shit tune on when they don't even realise it's an old Prodigy track like We are the Ruffest or whatever.
But...... I do remember when I first heard all the older stuff after becoming a fan with the Fat of the Land era. I gotta admit.. after hearing tunes like Out of Space, Break & Enter, etc I was confused. cont.......
Though I love all those tracks now. It took me a while to realise that with era of The Prodigy comes a different vibe, though still having the Prodigy energy. Maybe some people just dont understand that. Some ppl I know cant stand the Experience/Jilted stuff. Those eras are as good if not better than the later ones in my opinion.
