In the 80s plenty of people had car phones although I'm talking of the later 80s. As for mobile phones, it was 1993 or later that even the very very wealthiest people I know started having them (and they were boat anchors compared to modern phones).
I guess America was more advanced technologically if the rich had mobile phones in 1980.
I would love to be invited round to Erica's for a small glass of sherry .
