Just to be clear, this drug is NOT being pulled from the market. Avastin got FDA approval for breast cancer in 2008. In the followup studies that were a condition of approval the same benefit was not demonstrated. As a result the FDA is considering removing the indication for breast cancer. Even if the FDA withdraws the drug's approval for breast cancer, doctors will still have the option to prescribe the drug "off-label" ...
