  • kickass flawless songwriter ~ shes fierce why shes not blaring outta radio is a goddamn travesty

  • Long live Canadian music!!!!

With the exception of Mr. Bieber.

  • This one amazing artist and she is getting better

  • What an incredible voice she has!

  • i love her sooo much (L) i'm a teenager and i wish i could get other teenagers to like her! she's amazing ! :)

  • this song is amazing. she has some real talent (:

oh and stop at 3:03. she makes a funny face. just a lil humour ;)

  • love this

  • supporting bon iver.. that'll do nicely :)

  • Amazing song, superb video. God-damn Kathleen is good, and should be a bigger name, but God knows it would ruin her if she was. Damned if you do...

  • i love this song...

  • She's like a female Tom Petty. She reminds me of Matt Mayes.

  • even though she wont get noticed for her brilliance, its good that we get something out of her music :)

  • One reason why a lot of these talented artists don't make it south of the border is because they don't act like promiscuous sluts. Kathleen doesn't show enough of her "junk".

  • No entiendo porque no projectan mas a esta mujercita si posese una voz maravillosa.Solo le dan publicidad a un monton de artistas que solo cantan basuras.

  • I love this song. It shouldve ben a bigger hit

  • hey cip- Many videos dont' match our notions of the song! Big dea! Close your eyes and listen... Seems you thought long and hard disecting the Vid. So, is it about the Video or THE SONG!!??!

  • Great song but I don't get the video. She shows up to the same place four times? Each time with different hair? And an awful lot of people inside and no cars in the parking lot. Keep on rocking, Kathleen. This is how it's done!

  • @cjp371

I think the video is made to be as haunting as the song. She shows up four times, but never leaves... feeling trapped? Feeling like she's repeating her mistakes?

  • and shes hot too!

  • She is amazing!

Is it me or does she look like a younger Cate Blanchett?!

  • @sugarhorse7

And I thought it was just me. We are both right. I heard this song many years ago while driving. Never forgot it!!

  • It's not just you. ;)

  • this song is amazing!...but i can't stop listening to copied keys. can someone please post a video for that song.

  • @bosgrl333 just read your review of 'in state' video and i too am obsessed with 'copied keys' - the perfectly written song

  • Great song and video...She reminds me of a girl I dated after high school

    Hi Jan

  • can't believe it's been since 2005 i've seen her live at a festival in Ghent (Belgium) celebrating female voices ... She was in a line up with Martha Wainwright, A Girl Called Eddy and Marike Jager ... one of the best festival days ever in my oppinion...

    Miss you in Belgium, Kathleen

  • She's talented and original. She writes her own songs. The odds are stacked against her.

  • I'm seeing her play in Buffalo in two weeks...Ihad to see what she was about. I'm digging her sound!!

  • YEA!! saw her at that hip show too in london. was so sick. she didnt even care she was comical and cool. i gained lots of respect for her she seemed like a sweetheart

  • I just saw her open for the Tragically Hip last night, had no idea who she was.....I was wowed! Great Live show, will defintely keep my eyes open for her return, lucky Im in Ontario close to her home town!

  • Thanks for a wonderful post! KE is the next big female artist. I love this because it is an intelligently written, rarely talked about fact in so many lives, KE's voice drives me wild!, her husband's guitar part is so well crafted, the B3 is CLASSIC, the drums and bass are in "the pocket". Kathleen Seeing you play is on my must do list ahead of nearly everything else. Thanks again - I've never seen this video!

  • As an American I can attest to the fact that our terrestial radio is a sewer of Idol wanna be's who neither write songs or play an insturment. If it weren't for SIRIUS sat. radio I may never have heard of Kathleen Edwards, Great Big Sea, Metric, City and Color and many other talented Canadian artists. It is the rare station down here that plays Lucinda Williams these days and you can forget about any less than mainstream Canadian acts with the exception of Nickelback (enough already!)

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • Very "Brownesque": and I mean that in the best possible way, since I think JB is one of the most thoughtful wordsmiths in pop history. The congruous melding of free-flowing music and insightful lyrics is often lost on the public at large. But the beautiful sounds, melodious voice, and the few catch phrases are sufficient to make this "ready for radio." Unfortunately, few will "get it"... but more than you'd think don't need an amp pointed at them out of a window (awesome statement) ;7) *****

  • love kathleen edwards! love the old volvo!

  • AWESOME WRITE.. Someones thinkin.

  • She's so Gothic and otherworldly, I just love her.

  • Haunting, sad, pensive and absolutely wonderful, gives me chills.

  • Brilliant Beautiful Bodacious Bitter Brilliant Brilliant Babe

  • Absolutely Accurate Ample Alliteration

  • If it's any consolation (which I know it isn't) other talented performers like her in the States don't get radio play. They do play her songs on the radio station I listen to in Austin. A station that plays as much of the great, under-appreciated music as the corporation that owns them will allow.

  • Why don't american record execs get it ? There is some great talent up here, but they can't catch a break because the can't get a serious push on radio. This woman can sing, play an instrument, and writes her own songs, yet people like Brittany and Ashley Simpson can be heard all day long. Long live Canadian music.

  • The reason American record Execs "don't get it" is because they are only supplying the public with what they want. Most of the American music buying public (mainly teens) just want light depthless pop music that doesn't have any serious weight to it. They don't care for music that needs to be payed attention to or rewards the listener with intricate arrangements or insightful lyrics. Supply and demand....Britney and Ashley are in demand so that's what gets supplied.

  • That isn't legitimate demand, though. It's an industrial complex like any other; the demand for oil for instance is an industrial construct. The first internal combustion engines ran on oxygen and hydrogen - then what? All the same, there is no choice in the radio industry. Soon enough, another medium will come along and Clear Channel will be f*cked, just like the record companies.

  • another medium????like???? the internet =]

hmmm only 35k views so far...

  • Of course, that was implied - but there isn't yet an internet radio equivalent to iTunes in terms of volume or scope.

  • i was just beating around the masses are asses bush

  • @freeloader97 Why do you need the approval of big american labels to enjoy good music? Personally I'd rather see Kathleen Edwards play in a bar rather than the ACC.

  • @freeloader97 canadian content laws have a lot to do with it. and thank goodness....a lot of otherwise great talent would slip thru the cracks. and there is some that i wish would do just that, but that's another discussion.

  • She ROCKS!!!!

  • I just happened upon this video. I had to replay it at least 30x! KE got some kind of hold on me. She's got that "Elizabeth Shue" innocence and vulnerability, sexy.( Yeah, I know I'm blushing) I went through all her videos for hours. Great lyrics and guitar accompaniment this should've been top ten in US. I'm just hearing it??? I'd love to see her act live.

  • I just saw Kathleen in Pittsburgh on Saturday...talked to her...shook her hand...she's amazing!

  • I think this woman is amazing and yes I think the comparisons to Lucinda Williams are appropriate, they are both awesome. I'm glad I have Sirius radio, I heard her on the Canadian channel, there is a lot of great music up north.

  • Kathleen is awesome and beautiful..love it.

  • Great seeing you on Bravo's "Rehersal Hall"...Well done...Great band!

  • GREAT VOICE , But who's the band?

  • Promising up-and-comer - if she isn't here already.

  • She's a modern-day Lucinda Williams.

Not like Lucinda's lost her touch either, but damn this is some good music.

  • I'm American. YES!!! we would benefit from more of Kathleen's muzik!!! YEA! Buddha bless ROCKIN Canadian muzik!!!!

  • i a Lao American. i've been hearing this song at my work for years and have not been able to pinpoint the singer since then, UNTIL NOW! I LOVE KATHLEEN EDWARDS' MUZIK! yea, ur right 'jax', America would benefit from more of Kathleen's muzik! as a Buddhist, YES! BLESS CANADIAN MUZIK!!!!

  • Buddha bless Canadian artists.

  • She is awesome not mainstream enough for good ole hammerheaded us of a. Oh speaking of hammerheads this gilrs husband is a huge low self esteem dickhead

  • great song, too bad she does't get much air time in america

  • Do not tell me that she does not have a great voice! That is not true

  • This song has Collin Cripps all over it. No doubt his guitar work makes this song work.

  • If you get a chance, check her out on Austin City Limits. She appears in an episode with Allison Krause.(sp?) This was the first time I had seen Kathleen and was hooked form that point on. Pretty basic rock, but extremely catchy and full of hooks.

  • She's one of my faves.

  • Thank your very much

for posting this song - never knew who sang it - one of my favorites.

  • I heard this song on the radio years ago. I have been searching for this song for all these years. Thank you so much for putting this video up.

  • very good.

  • Gorgeous...and the song is great too. Keep rockin KE!

  • She is amazing! I hope I get to see her live someday...is it just me or does she look like that elf princess in lord of the rings Lyve Tyler?

  • She is AMAZING live. You won't be disappointed.

  • She looks a bit more like Cate Blanchett. 8)

I simply adore her. Great video.

  • kathleen is amazing. she's a great singer and songwriter, an excellent performer and a really beautiful person.

  • Brilliantly written song...just begs to be sang with more emotion though, IMO. I just don't see how the character in the song would deliver this sentiment in the dry, matter-of-fact way that Kathleen sings it. She's like a female Kris Kristofferson...a superlative songwriter whose vocals don't always do her songs justice. From the video it seems like she can act a bit as well.

  • kathleen has a raw beautiful voice. Any other artist would never be able to give Kathleens song justice. And she is giving emotion. She almost has a longing in her voice.

  • I disagree. It is sung with just the right edge. The tone is not that of an angry and wounded woman, but of one who has had enough and is moving on. It is the tone of love that has died.

  • My Goodness... I love this song so much. I love the guitar playing in it the most. Kathleen Edwards is a great singer too.:)

  • Incredible song...

  • In no uncertain terms, I *fucking* love this song. Awesome.

  • see you at Irving Plaza

  • This girl is the Real Thing.

  • Love Child prodigal of

    Neil Young and Linda Ronstadt.

  • great song - too bad the video is so bitchy and petty - i blame the director - she has to take the blame too i guess - treating her fans like idiots - hey where poets too kid - we might just not write songs

  • Great song!!!

  • Nice Country-Rock song,from a Beautiful woman from Ottawa!Kathleen is Hot!!!
